I really recommend those who are avid gamers to pick up a surround sound headset, playing in the alpha has just left me speechless with the amazing depth of sound and graphics mixed together, i really think the headset made the game 300x better since you really feel everything around you... So if you have a few extra bucks get that surround sound headset!

4 RepliesHi Sora, I'd recommend you look at Mad Lust Headphone Gaming guide. He's listed A LOT of headphones with the only focus being on what they are like for gaming. A lot of the can's that are 'top of the range' gaming headphones (turtle beach / astro etc.) are actually quite poor sonically when stacked against a pair of quality cans such as Beyerdynamics or AKG's. http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-update-7-9-2014-ultrasone-hfi-15g-added The sound out of a pair of Beyer DT990 for example will be far superior to anything by Turtle Beach / ASTRO / Beats / Skull. Your dilemma however will be if you are on PS4 - it can't output voice chat through your TV / home theatre amp. PS4 can only output voice chat through the 3.5mm jack in the DS4 controller. So it leaves you with either putting a pair of awesome headphones through the DS4 controller, which won't have enough power drive your headphones properly where its sounds incredible, or getting a headphone amp like the astro mixamp pro, which means more money. In short, if you want to listen to everything the game has to offer, get a pair of proper headphones, plug 'em in to a home A/V or headphone amp. If you want to chat also, couple the headphones with a mic like the Zalman (£7). It does unfortunately leave you with cables hanging around the place, but its worth it. Here is what I have done as I am in a similar situation, about to shell out a load of cash on cans, and was looking for the best way forward: 1) Use my Shure SE215's (which I already own), buy a Zalman mic and y splitter for £10, plug in to DS4 controller and get pretty decent audio. Also happens to be relatively cable free and only costs £10 to get going (as I already own the Shures). 2) When the funds have been saved, buy the Sony Golds - easy to set-up, wireless, audio is pretty flat but with some tweaks you can improve it a little with the companion app. Use this setup when I want to chat and still appreciate half decent audio. From a value perspective, beats any of the Turtles etc out there. 3) Save up again for the Beyerdynamics DT990, so I can appreciate awesome sound when I want to play solo / lone ranger style. Stay away from the over hyped 'gaming headphones'.

6 RepliesPolk 4-shot. Feels great/Sounds great, but people are telling me they can barely hear me all the time. Polk's aware of the problem and sent me and other 4-Shot owners a new boom.. but I'm told by friends that it really hasn't made a difference =(

3 RepliesI use the Tritton Kama. It's not very comfortable for long gaming situations but it does have awesome sound quality. It was 30$ and I wasn't going to get one of the larger 100+$ headsets. Also I'm 13 so my head isn't too big. Anywhere 3 1/2 hours + is where it starts too hurt.

So those are designed for PC use? Can I use a PC headset on my xbox one?

I use turtle beach PX22's.
