Before you jump to conclusions I want to first ask you a question. What does a community manager do? Is it a figurehead used soley to market a game? No, but that is surely what it seems like.
Here's a definition if you need one:
"An executive in the company who acts as the ambassador of a company or brand on the web. The community manager builds and monitors multiple communities generated in blogs, forums, social networks, etc. S/he becomes the authorised voice of the company.
Besides requiring a thorough knowledge of rules and netiquette used in various media, the role of the community manager requires common sense, the right aptitude and the ability to make decisions regarding the company's image or brand. For example, the community manager has to be able to knock on the CEO’s door and ask him or her to intervene in an online forum."
Let's take a look at what Bungie's community manager has contributed for the past year.
-Weekly updates with no clear answers. (Defininive announcements/answers are usually posted on the Bungie blog or at the beggining of an update, not the mail sack.)
-Forum posts that belittle concerned users and are almost never serious.
-Forum Ninjas have essentially become useless.
-Any questions that a user PMs are ignored unless they directly praise the game.
-Little to no moderation. (Think about all the trolling you see in #Destiny)
-July 7th, 2014 was a marketing ploy
Now I bet you are thinking to yourself, "Gee if I was the community manager I wouldn't deal with these spoiled users either."
Now imagine being the President and saying, "Gee I really don't think the American people deserve a stable economy because all they do is complain."
See what I am getting at? If you have a JOB you should do that job. This petition's goal is to have David Dague be removed from his position so that we can get a competent and qualified individual. This man is NOT qualified to be in this position. He was hired only because he created a small gaming website a few years ago.
We want someone who actually INTERACTS with the community and takes their job seriously.
We deserve better so please sign this petition if you want the community the way it was instead of the way it is now.
