Because of a deal Nvidia made with Ubisoft.
Now about 40% of PC gamers (the AMD users) are in the dark about why their PCs are chugging when trying to run Watch Dogs.
There's a difference between trying to give gamers the best experience possible on their hardware and trying to smother the competition by being shady.
Nvidia are doing the latter.

An R9 290X should not be struggling to keep up with a GTX 770.
The 290X is AMD's flagship GPU, and is the competitor to Nvidia's GTX 780Ti.
AMD have said they have driver updates that should roll out sometime this week that helps improve performance in Watch Dogs.

Speaking of Ubisoft anybody else remember the hype for I am Alive?
-
Ubisoft is really not a game company I respected with their yearly mill of Assassins creed games being churned out, their stupid DRM, and now this. I don't know how anyone could support a 'gaming' company like them. As for watch dogs, never was interested in it. Boring to me. As for Nvidia I have always used Nvidia cards, they suit my preference but that doesn't mean I'd want to see AMD go away. The competition is good. Makes both sides offer better deals for the consumer.

1 ReplyHow can PC be master race when this is going on? Checkmate Lemon.

59 RepliesBut... PC master race! How could there ever be issues when you have a PC? That's impossible!

14 RepliesAll you butthurt pc users need to stfu. This won't affect consoles. Why? Because, consoles run amd. This means if it does happen, it will push console gamers away from the products of the game developers. The console gamers make up a large amount of gamers and this means it will affect the game developers sales negatively. This means that these deals are most likely to only happen on pc. Want evidence? Well this thread tells you, why do you think they only did it on pc, not on consoles? For the reason I stated. You pc gamers need to stop trying to make us console gamers care because most of you pc gamers *looks at OP* troll and negatively contribute in console related and don't care about us "plebby" console gamers and don't care about our issues or threads. We DON'T care about your issues, you deal with it (like you always say to us). I'm not the only one, look at this thread. Burrito doesn't care, he's one of the few examples. "Lol, cry about it" - typical pc gamer response to console gamer threads. Now i'm using this against you.

2 RepliesIt runs fine on my MacBook

I agree OP. Ubisoft has made deals with Nvidia. Whenever I install a new driver for Nvidia I get these weird ubisoft ads.
-
I am a console player, but I hope they update it sooner for you PC guys.

6 RepliesEdited by Bistromathics: 5/30/2014 12:06:29 AMAll I see here is AMD being mad that developers are buying middleware from a competitor, rather than them. Using GameWorks doesn't stop the developer from also optimizing for AMD hardware, and that's the only part of this that could be considered shady. To that point:
To put this particular argument to bed, I told Cebenoyan I wanted crystal clear clarification, asking “If AMD approached Ubisoft and said ‘We have ideas to make Watch Dogs run better on our hardware,’ then Ubisoft is free to do that?” “Yes,” he answered. “They’re absolutely free to.” And there’s nothing built in to GameWorks that disables AMD performance? “No, never.”
If AMD wants to compete, let them offer a better product.

3 Replies>People still use AMD cards.

9 RepliesNvidia are superior GPU manufactures and businessmen it seems. Nothing wrong with decimating the competition who are supply inferior products.

3 RepliesI guess it's the way it's meant to be played?

It runs just fine on my OUYA

This is pretty sickening stuff.

1 ReplySo why is this not affecting consoles since both use AMD gpus?

Major publishers like Ubisoft and EA are the reason I don't like PC gaming as much as I should. I still love playing Battlefield in glorious ultra settings because it looks sexy as -blam!-, but I hate Origin and what EA are trying to force on people. Thank god for Bohemia and small devs making kickass titles.
-
Ubisoft is terrible enough at optimization as it is, do they really need to make it even worse?
-
2 RepliesThat's pretty bad. That being said, my game still runs like shit on SLI 760s.
-
Well this f*cking sucks. I hate where not only the gaming industry is heading, but a lot of different industries are heading as well. Winter is coming
-
5 Repliestime to say -blam!- you to Nvidia and stop buying their shit.

Why is it that these people can get away with there schemes.
