I mean think about it; it sucks. It's a plastic crappy thing. It just isn't worth your time at all. Moreover, if you wanted something like it, you'd get the Xbox One with the Kinect 2. The PS Camera probably wasn't bundled with the PS4 because it couldn't compete with the Kinect 2 and therefore they decided to remove it to provide a niche for people who weren't interested in it to attract them away from the Xbox One.
Does anyone else think that the PS Camera is pretty much completely useless?

The biggest reason as to why the Playstation Camera is going to fail is because it isn't bundled with the system. Because of this, developers aren't going to be willing to take the chance to make features specific for an add-on that, at most, 10% of their potential buyers are going to own. The Kinect 1.0 had this problem.

8 RepliesAt least they aren't forcing us to buy it with the console.

Edited by Derivative : 12/6/2013 9:53:54 AMIt has many uses for many games and OS features. It's far from useless. Based on my experience, it isn't really that different from kinect. But I think excluding the eye from the system bundle was a good idea on Sony'a part. There aren't a lot of games that use it and it isn't vital to OS functionality.

Kinect is uesless too.

3 RepliesWe all knew it was going to be a train wreck like the first Kinect. MS learned from their mistakes and made the 2.0 integrated hardware.

4 RepliesThe kinect 2 is nice, but now, I'll be in the middle of something, my dad will walk by and say, "Xbox, go home." And it will quit whatever I'm doing, thanks dad.

1 ReplyIt sounds funny but the PS4 camera rocks for my little girl. We had a good time with it. Now she's only 8 but it's good for us or for a laugh.

1 ReplyI hate voice commands. I have tried them on my PS4 before. Not very engaging. I feel like an asshole talking to my system. I will never buy a camera for a game console.
-
3 RepliesOf course it sucks. Sony have obviously cut corners dramatically in order to sell their console at such a low price. They may as well have not even bothered with the PS camera.
-
1 ReplyEveryone here says that the Kinect is useless, but I'm gonna have to disagree with them there. The voice commands are pretty good, and the voice recognition can be updated, as it is a software related issue. Not to mention the variety of possible game applications, such as leaning, headtracking, voice recording, facial mapping, and possibly even using your heartbeat to create dynamic situations for the player in survival horror games and such. It's also good to know devs will take it seriously since everyone has one. I used to think it would be a piece of shit like the original Kinect, but man, Microsoft really proved me wrong.

My friend got one. We laughed when it thought a picture was someone's head. Then we screamed when it wouldn't do what we wanted it to do.

2 RepliesEverything is better with a camera. I'm just waiting for when people finally start implanting cameras into their bodies.

4 RepliesEnough with this console war shit! Yeah Xboxes little skybox is great(I have one) but come on. Who gives a flying -blam!- about another consoles camera. Come tell me the Sony pony fanboy who once again made a Xboner cry! Please!

7 RepliesUseless? Except when you play a dance game with it. Or are lazy and want to say playstation battlefield start. Maybe you just feel like broadcasting commentary with a picture of yourself as you steam video. Its extra and its only there if you want it which i like.
-
9 RepliesWhy? It does everything the Kinect does nearly... I'm never touching either though.
-
4 RepliesI wouldn't say it sucks, but it definitely isn't for me. I used to play with the EyeToy in the PS2 days though, and man that was fun. Saying that, however, I also don't really want a Kinect. I would be more inclined to get an Xbox One if there was a version without the Kinect.
-
1 ReplyYea, both items are useless. At least for me, I see myself getting no functionality out of either of them. Which is why I am glad Sony decided not to bundle it with the console. Its one less thing I would have to find a place to store it, or throw it out.

7 RepliesI think both cameras are completely useless.
-
1 ReplyBoth are useless, however the Kinect is WAY better than the PS camera.
-
1 ReplyYou know that niche you were talking about? It done gone shown up 'ere.
-
1 ReplyIt's not entirely useless. It has some of the main voice controls of the Xbox One, like turning on the system, launching games, and launching the browser. The Playroom also seems kind of fun. But it's not as useful as the Kinect, and Sony itself hasn't displayed much confidence in the product. IIRC you can actually use voice commands with just the headset, so you don't have to drop $60 just for that.

1 ReplyIt isn't worth $60 at this point and I'm not sure it ever will be.
