Why do you people say Halo 4 is a bad game?

The game lost a good chunk of its population shortly after launch. Can you guys name a game that has that accomplishment? The game is not even a year old yet and it lost the majority of its population. Can you guys name a game that has that accomplishment? Instead of making a game that keeps a good chunk of its population for sometime after launch and is remembered for the good things it did. They made a game that lost the majority of its population and the game is not just remembered for that, but also for having more bads than goods. I think 343 really out did themselves with this game.

  • I'm firmly convinced lack of competitive gameplay, no visible ranks, instant and broken spawns, random ordinance drops, personal ordinance and JIP ruined that game. Blending Halo with popular FPSs of the day alienated an entire fan base that played Halo because it was something different. While some of those problems have been addressed, and Halo 4 plays better now than it did at launch, the inaction of 343 for months to make any changes killed it. I picked up Halo 4 for the fourth time in a year and got a killtrocity today in TS with no power weapons. The lack of map awareness I was witnessing was astounding. My KDR went from 1.2 to 1.3 in like 3 hours. I was a 25 in TS in Halo 3 and 65% gold Season 8 in Arena in Reach with a negative KDR. I'm not what you call good at Halo and I shit all over the thumbless Cretans still left in that shell of a game. The community has forsaken Halo and it's newfound gimmicks from 343i. I really wonder if they'll come back for Halo 5 after this, and it's a shame.

  • I mostly stopped playing it because black ops 2 surprised mean and turned out to be amazing fun. But I liked halo 4 and think the problems with Halo 4 will be gone in halo 5.

    • Oh my god, is this still a thing? There's possibly nothing more that we can complain or compliment about Halo 4. We definitely needed a new release to renew our hate/love for 343 Industries and talk about how the people over there are plotting to kill all of us here.

So much crap was taken away (vehicles and weapons). Forge sucked major ass. Theater was limited. MP was basically a beta at launch. Shit campaign. Only good thing is how the game looked, but the glare made your -blam!-ing eyes hurt.

There's just no replayability in there. The Campaign is boring and lackluster with no Scarab battles or Hog Run moments, just a lot of the same repeated over and over. The multiplayer is simply not complete. There are too many missing things, and big things too like Assault and Elites, and too many unnecessarily changed things like CTF and too many new things that don't work like Ordinance drops and instant respawn. This all comes together to create a multiplayer game that has no drama and no tension. Dying is no problem, not even a mild inconvenience, and winning lacks triumph or reward. Winning just makes you think "Oh, we won" and nothing more. So the population has been hemorrhaging since the game launched because people have better things to do with their time. The game doesn't have that addictive quality that the older Halo games have, so you don't long to play Relic or Lockout or Terminal on H2, or play Avalanche or 1 Flag on H3, or Invasion or Firefight on Reach. Halo 4 is a hollow and twisted shell, and the hollow twisted shell just goes to show what is missing and what was changed.

          • I personally do not think its bad. I think it's just franchise fatigue. If halo 3 came out after a certain number games like 4, more people would think its more boring. You can only do so much stuff in each game that it gets a little tiresome. But that's just my opinion. Each game has its pros an cons

          • Because it sucks. Aside from the obvious (people having issues with the multiplayer and gameplay), most of the people who hate or otherwise dislike Halo 4 hate it because of the campaign. It was a drastic step down in quality from the rest of the trilogy, both in terms of story, and in replayability. None of the missions were really all that fun or memorable and there's no real reason to go back and play any of it again. Even if it wasn't a Halo game it wouldn't be all that great of a story. Halo had plenty of generic sci-fi elements before Halo 4 and 343i, but it was always more than the sum of its parts and the story had a lot of depth and was far from generic despite some of the elements being common cliches or tropes of sci-fi series. Now though, the story is about as generic as you can get, the story has pretty much devolved into your stereotypical "humans, -blam!- yeah!" drivel and every single alien race out there having it out for humanity and not doing anything by fighting them and/or wanting to exterminate the whole entire species. Oh it's certainly much better taken on its own than compared to the rest of the Halo series, definitely, but even regarded as its own game or the start of a brand new series and IP...it really isn't all that great. Now, taking the rest of the Halo series into account and comparing Halo 4 to the other games and the lore in the series....it's an absolute piece of rubbish shit. The game either introduces NEW breaches of canon and ways it -blam!-s up and contradicts the established lore, or continues off of violations and breaches that 343i had already introduced. The only reason I hate it is because of the many ways that it contradicts previously established facts and canon in both the books and the games that were published while Halo was under Bungie's control. As long as 343i is in charge I'm not going to be buying anymore Halo stuff and I'm going to have very little overall to do with the series. All 343i does is continue to come out with even more garbage that keeps -blam!-ing up canon. The last piece of Halo canon as far as I'm concerned in Halo: Reach and the last bit of canon in the series chronology is Halo 3....343i's bullshit can go rot in a -blam!-ing hole for all I care.

          • Multiplayer game modes were literally just team deathmatches with objective. The multiplayer experience was just bland and the campaign was boring and had no replayability. I've played the halo 3 campaign about 5 times now and it still doesn't get old.

            • Because many of them had sky high expectations which were stomped to the ground and feel the need to use hyperbole to get their point across. Game is good. Just not anywhere near as good as prior Halo titles.

            • My Shortest and simplest point to this topic is they made the game short and simple. I cannot tell you how many people I I've spoken to saying "Oh hey remember this part in campaign when you rip that guys head off?!" With utter excitement and glee, Only to hear them retort "OH i haven't/won't play the campaign." Not to mention the Campaign was only six hours tops for me. There were levels in Halo 3 that took me that long on legendary. 343 fumbled the ball on this one, the only redeeming factor for me was the wicked armors we were given.

                • I don't consider Halo 4 to be a bad game. It looked pretty enough for an Xbox title, it had great gameplay and from time to time that magical "thirty seconds of fun". But the story was bogus and the characters were not credible, which made it a terrible Halo game.
