Whats the deal with fireteams?
According to Bungie you can only have three people on a fire team. Which is sad because some people have more than three friends. so if u have a limited amount of people in your fire team can you have a larger group of fire teams? If you can what would they be called? post in the comments and let me know

3 is good for me, don't have a lot of friends but also it stops the team becoming too big and unwieldy.

If there were more people, it would throw off the gameplay mechanics and it would be too easy. Idk. That seems the most logical explanation to me. All the sudden they add fireteams. Why? Why do you need them? How does it benefit you to be in a fireteam other than maybe a way to chat? Chatting [i]wont[/i] be the only plus, we know there is magic, and I personally believe that you can't cause amazing amounts of damage all the time and you need some sort of gauge. You can probably fill it by yourself, but I bet getting a fireteam will assist in you filling that gauge, ultimately encouraging fireteams, AKA cooperative play.

Honestly. I think the fire team should be a number of six. But im not sure if this is right but. There is 3 classes. So maybe they thought. Hmmmm 1 titan 1 hunter 1 warlock = 3 guardians Lol. (Doubt it) But even if that was true. I dont think a squad of just 3 people is fare. COM ON MANNN (espn)

1 ReplyI found it strange. Typically console games allow 4 players at least in multiplayer. The only reason I can think of is because there are 3 classes (which also makes me think that there will only be the 3 classes mentioned included in the final game). Which doesn't make much sense because they could all be the same class if they want.

Having a fireteam of three people is fine, especially since Bungie explained why. Dungeon-type levels are linear and are best with limited number of enemies and limited number of players. Increasing the number of enemies doesn't work because then that just breaks your AI code and creates havoc among players where they just rush everything. Outside , in the open world, fireteams can be with other fireteams to fight enemies.

1 Replyi believe you can have two fire teams join forces to form a squad of six . notice the top right of the picture above ,it has Deej , halcyon and another guy on there , and on the side of that box is 3/6 , which suggest you can have two teams together , which I think is both a reasonable number and logical , i don't think bungie will force you to choose which friends you hang out with in the game.

well I heard you can have two fireteams with you in a campaign private zone so I would just separate my friends into 2 fireteams

2 RepliesActually, I'm having my "Friends" on Xbox have a fight to the death (maces and battle axes) and the two surviving "Friends" will then be able to join my fire team. Since the rest of them will be dead or so badly maimed they can't hold a controller, there will be no hard feelings over losing. Have a surreal day..

1 ReplyThe open world stuff will have tons of people playing together as we've seen. The private areas are more of the indoor themed places where having a dozen people rushing hallways with only enough room for one person and small rooms would just be silly. I think 3 is the perfect size for private areas. Big enough for team synergy, small enough for every person to matter.

In a lot of interviews the developers stated they want the game to be challenging. More than three gentlemen in a team would be more like a massacre than an epic battle. And the players wouldn't see as much action individually. There are clans in the game, and also factions. I'm sure Bungie has plans for the ones who love large battles.

They took 3 because the fire teams are made for going through the story together. Tell me, how much of the story would you understand with 7 of your friends in the same lobby, talking and laughing. It would not be the same. But some sort of raids are confirmed, that's a better place to have alot of friends in the lobby.

Well 3 people in a fireteam does not have to be a bad thing right away. If I look at other games and how they did this like for example World of Warcraft "not comparable as a game tough" I would say you have your team were you are in, in wow it is 5 people, and all those teams can join a bigger group "Raiding group" That can excist out of 6 or 8 teams or something that iw was So in destiny I suppose it will be that in your screen you see the two people you are with in a fire team, but if you open the interface you can see all the other people and thee level of the joined fireteams. (Raid group/public event group etc) Still it is not sure what they will do here for sure, but will be probaly something like that

The Fireteams are for co-op campaign missions, up to 3 members for a Fireteam.

2 RepliesI think they will allow fire teams to partner up instead raising the max amount of members in a single fire team. Kind of like real life were a platoon is made up of various squads with individual soldiers.
