Eh, not really. You're already making a conscious decision on whether you should buy something expensive or decide to save that money for something else. You either go through with it or you don't. Like in the case of the Xbox One and PS4, people aren't going to buy the PS4 JUST because it's cheaper but because they actually want a PS4. Same for the Xbox One.
