Anyone know why Bungie turned from Xbox exclusive to more supportive of Sony?

Bungie didn't switch sides. However yes they are working with Sony now but there still in bed with Microsoft. It's funny because Bungie is the God of video games and if it wasn't for Bungie Microsoft would never of been so big.
-
To reach a wider audience of gamers and bring their epic works to all the little gamers of the world. They didn't switch sides, they don't hate Xbox, they just expanded.
-
Hey look guys, it's this thread again.
-
Well if there was no contract with Microsoft Bungie would've most likely have been multiplatform in the first place. Its good Bungie no longer has to associate exclusively for them.
-
My goodness, why do I see so many posts about this? Bungie is giving PS players exclusive content because Xbox players got Halo!!! This is their way of welcoming PS into their family and gaming community. This has nothing to do with "sides"
-
1 ReplyI'd hardly call it "switching sides." Bungie is a game developer first and foremost. They made Halo for Xbox while under contract, and now (as an independent company) they're able to go in any direction they want. Going multi-platform is a great way to broaden your audience and income. I think that Bungie's making all the right moves right now. Just my thoughts, though.

-
1 ReplyThey didnt "turn" sides. Its multiplatform now because they arent under contract from M$
-
7 RepliesEdited by Steel Assassin: 6/19/2013 8:20:27 PMMicrosoft prevented them from being multi-platform. That contract is expired. Bungie's own words, Microsoft was their "benevolent dictators."
-
2 RepliesBungie has neglected an entire console fanbase for 13 years. They're giving PlayStation some love since we already know they do great things on Xbox. Besides, Activision may have a hand in it. Xbox exclusives for CoD, PS exclusives on Destiny.
-
1 ReplyBungie wanted the new console to be called the Xbox-Seven but MS gave them the middle finger and called it the Xbox-One instead so Bungie got buttmad and ditched MS for the glory of Playstation.

Edited by Andreas17Chief: 6/19/2013 8:18:41 PMFirst, I wouldn't call it "switching sides". They are expanding ... bringing their art to a larger group of players. There is nothing wrong with that. Second, I bet MS did not come to Bungie saying: "Hi lads, we had such a good time over the last decade and our company owes you so much for the great games that made our console popular. Let's celebrate with some special Destiny content for XBone." Surly it was more like: "Bungie, pfff. Is that something edible... Halo belongs to us now. We are the master of the preciousss, yesss! Don't give a f*** about bloody idealists, that's what we do, gollum!"
-
Contract expired.
-
3 RepliesThey never switched sides. They're revealing with Sony because everyone is hating on Xbox right now. Obviously.
-
Well they've cracked the Xbox market haven't they. Marketing needed on the Sony side.
-
1 ReplyThey didn't switch sides. They went neutral.
-
The reason is maybe they r still working hard on the Xbox platform for destiny cause remember xbone will have new servers to work with.
-
11 RepliesEdited by Duardo: 6/17/2013 11:54:19 PMBungie has created a Playstation game before. They probably would have continued doing so if Microsoft hasn't bought them. Perhaps Bungie will release some Xbox exclusives too, but haven't announced them yet?
-
1 ReplyIt's because you touch yourself... You should be very, very, ashamed.
-
Microsoft wouldn't hand the IP over to bungie while they were virtual slave drivers so it's said while they also simply refused to make any concessions to bungie but rather driving them harder and harder for asking and similar stories were told by other developers at the time so I'd say bungie are trying to protect their sanity by giving Microsoft second place with their new IP.
-
2 RepliesEdited by SergeantFlood: 6/17/2013 8:37:04 PMWell, they aren't under contract with Microsoft anymore. And since they're doing multiplatform now, they need to make themselves well known for fans of other platforms that didn't play their xbox exclusives I guess. I would also guess that Sony went well out of their way to get Bungie to "support" the PS4 more in order to bring Halo fans who mostly follow Xbox over and buy their stuff.
-
Because Bungie got out of a toxic relationship and are now in the process of being in an open relationship with all consoles, showing that they can move on and have healed after that rough moment in their life, but still allowing that clinchy girl Microsoft a "friends with benefits" deal.
-
They're just releasing a tiny bit of bonus content for the PS4. All this "abandonment" and "switching sides" melodrama is a bit over the top.
-
2 RepliesThey have never made a game for PS so are trying to garner a larger customer base for their first game on PS. They haven't forgotten about Xbox or their XBox fans. Anyone who thinks they have turned their back on MS is -blam!-ing retarded.
-
They didn't really switch sides. They are just trying to reach out to the playstation community to try to kind of get their foot in the door again and introduce new fans into the bungie universe.
Anyone know why Bungie turned from Xbox exclusive to more supportive of Sony?
Just to clarify, rumors about Bungie quitting on Microsoft are all false. Bungie is, as I call it, being financially strategic, as they are supporting both Sony and Microsoft.
