They announced the Halo TV show on the Xbox One reveal, and while I'm super excited for it, I couldn't help but think: "You can make a Halo TV show, but you can't make a freaking Halo movie? WTF?" Like I said, I'm grateful that they are doing something on the TV screen, but seriously?

Edited by Circadian Wolf: 5/21/2013 7:41:02 PMPersonally I'd rather they don't make a tv show than make a bad one but since it's going to be made I hope to -blam!- it's good.
-
I'd rather have a Halo TV show than a movie, its more hours of entertainment and more time to establish a more compelling story.
-
5 RepliesOP, it makes sense from 343i's perspective. They can't butcher the Halo Universe and sexually abuse it to death as much with a movie. While they certainly can ruin Halo by a crap load through making a movie (And they've shown they don't even need Media outside the games to butcher Halo), Halo reaches a new low when the story is Ass Blasted on a weekly run with shitty TNT like Drama and Sci-Fi Original like characters.

its called doing a TV series and if that turns out great then the movie comes along
-
Ah shit. I just thought of something. They're probably going to make it within 343's universe, which means bullshit extensions of Spartan Ops episodes.
-
1 ReplyHopefully the acting is better than Forward Unto Dawn.
-
Hopefully they put some of the classic Halo themes in the show.

I am not impressed with the Xbox one. I am not a sports fan, but it seems the system is made for the NFL. Gaming seems to be a side note while TV is the dominant force behind it....

It makes more sense to make a series than a movie. A movie you get 2-3 hours at best to cram all the content of a book (assumming the books are used as a source). A tv series you can spread out all of the details and make the great moments count. And lets not assume movies automatically make things great.

3 RepliesBack when Halo was good I would have been excited. No real reason to care about the crap churned out with the Halo brand slapped on it these days.
-
If they can rope Spielberg in to make the movie, then I'll be impressed.

TV shows sometimes signal movies.

Edited by Madman Mordo: 5/21/2013 6:24:31 PMWhat I want to see: -Different non linear story lines from different perspectives. E.g. An episode on an ODSTs perspective, then an episode for a SPARTAN II's story perhaps. -An episode revolved around the Great Schism and the impact it had on the Elites. -Moar ODST-ness -An episode unveiling some of the Forerunner and Ancient Human's culture. -An episode based on the Insurrectionist's perspective. -An episode based on the early days of the Covenant and the relationship between the Prophets and Elites. Just ideas of course. Would be awesome if I got to see at least one or two of these points appearing in the finished product, but I can only hope.

You can make a TV show, but you can't make a good Halo game?
-
I really enjoyed FUD and with a bit more money, and an amazing exec, a Halo Series could be awesome.
-
A movie is way more risky and requires far more funding. Hope it doesn't blow.
-
I just hope this pulls through unlike how the Halo movie went down in flames because Microsoft is a bitch.
-
The only way I could see a Halo TV show or movie work and be successful is if it is completely CGI like a cutscene in Halo 4
-
3 RepliesSo you're saying you want less Halo?
-
A TV show would be better than a movie. I would LOVE it if they had Joss Whedon or Ronald D Moore to run it. (Joss if you want it to feel like an adventure, or Ronald if you want a grittier military drama) A movie you only get at most 3.5 hours. A TV show you could get 18 hours a season, and that's per year. There is at least enough material for 6 seasons. I'd like to see it follow the down time between the books, with vignette shows about the games. So, everything from the Spartan program for the normal show, but then do it from Jenkin's or an ODST's perspective for Combat Evolved, 2, 3 Reach etc... You know you would tune in to watch it.

5 RepliesEdited by Psycho: 5/21/2013 6:01:09 PMThats true. I don't think I like the sound of a Halo TV show.

Get ready Crimson, we got more episodes of Spartan Ops.

1 Reply.... The firefly series was better than the movie...
