The drill was scheduled to happen 9am to 4pm, the exact time that the shooting occured.

Pretty sure the "controlled explosion" bit isn't right. I read on CBC that the police undertook a controlled explosion on a home filled with explosive materials AFTER the bombings and during the investigation of the attack. And a College of MEDICINE holding a seminar on how to respond to natural disasters or acts of violence isn't unusual. EMTs and other first responders train for this all the time.

That tweet from the Boston Globe was [i]after[/i] the initial explosions, and was in reference to the bomb squad detonating a suspicious device they found near the library during their search, not in reference to some training exercise. They had tweeted about the two initial explosions about an hour before that.

4 RepliesThe "controlled explosion" seems to clearly be a part of the then-ongoing effort to figure out if other devices were in the city. It does seem a bit quick, but I'm not in a position to really judge that. Maybe Boston PD has an exceptional EOD team, I don't know. Re: Newtown, that appears to be a class, not a drill. Huge difference. Also, since when did a 7-hour range = "exact time"? Just sayin'.

I hope people realize the amount of these types of exercises and drills take place an obscene amount of times during a month.

Also, if it really was a conspiracy, surely it would hold more ground if they all given a holiday that day, rather than actually doing their jobs?
