So for those of you who don't believe in religion, God, the Bible, Jesus etc. if you say you don't care, or don't follow a certain religion then why do you seem on the offense and seem angry when religious threads pop here on Bungie?
I'm a Christian, I don't really care. I don't care about Muslims and Islam, Judaism, Sikh or the rest of them either. But I certainly do not criticise them, yet a lot of you seem to do although it doesn't affect you in no way. Some of you act like everyone should be an Atheist just because you are.

Really? Because we like to troll. That's it, really. The only time most of us are serious is when it's "creationism should be taught in school" or other such rubbish. Pretty much every other time we just like to troll.

Well in a way, religious belief systems do hurt me, at least indirectly. Think about things like stem cell research and invitrofertlization, two things religious people have opposed in the past because both present problems in the question of life. With embryonic stem cells, a human embryo is made to harvest the embryonic stem cells. Now it isn't always the religious who object to it, but for the most part it seems to be. The argument is that the embryo has a potential for life. I do not believe so, unless it could live outside the womb it would not live. Trying to ban this practice, to me, is unethical as it could lead to procedures that could save and heal already existing lives. Same goes for invitro. I remember controversies about "test tube babies" leading to the cheapening of human life and that many potential children are destroyed at the earliest stages of life to create one. Once again, I find that a majority of arguments against it come from the religious. Nevermind the fact that this procedure has given many parents, both gay and straight, the chance of having children and starting families when they otherwise couldn't. Religion keeps us behind as a species towards the future. If you have a faith, that is fine and all, I think we can do just fine without them. Our primitive ancestors managed to live without it hundreds of thousands of years ago.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't Atheist, but I do follow a system of beliefs. ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY HARUHI!

Then I read this and realized that you aren't.

Obvious generalization is obvious.

2 RepliesMost religious people are not like you are. Most religious people see fit to support legislation that forces the rest of us to follow their religious rules. It's not offense at all - it's defense entirely.
-
If you make a religious thread, obviously you want to talk about it. There is something wrong with you.
-
I believe in no deity and religious threads don't bother me at all. It could be a thread about a billion feces gods or Satan for all I care.

I'd imagine it's the same reason the vocal minority in Christians are on the attack in America. "NORTH CAROLINA MUST HAVE A STATE RELIGION"

why do you seem on the offense and seem angry when religious threads pop here on Bungie?
Sampling bias.
Some of you act like everyone should be an Atheist just because you are.
Whereas no Christians act like that?

I find it's mainly Americans that get offended by it, more than likely because they get religion forced upon them by their culture. As a Brit I don't care what people believe but, then again, religion isn't such a dominant part of our culture as it is in the States.
-
I don't. But I know that, in America at least, religion is treated more as something you should practice rather than something you might practice, and a lot of non-religious Americans get pissed off with that. So they vent. If they can't do it in the real world, I guess they do it here.

1 ReplyI don't get offended by it. I just get annoyed by how both sides are making religious threads on a daily bases. I mean, to be honest, nobody really gives a -blam!- what you believe in. Just keep it to yourself, and don't make threads like these that are just looking for an argument.

6 RepliesI'm an atheist, and I don't get on the offense on the internet. What now?
