Do you like the like button?

For years I replied to threads/posts just saying "I like this", or "I agree". Now with the simple click of a button, I can just like someones post without having to... well, post! Maybe i should put a ring on it.

It's the antidote for empty chatter that communicates approval. "This"

    • Since it won't let me reply to DeeJ without crashing my mobile browser, consider this to be @DeeJ: If you think that the current Like System solves the "This" problem, you don't understand the "This" problem. If it werent for my distinctive avatar, people still wouldn't know it was me expressing my nonverbal agreement for a post. Also, nobody else knows that I'm expressing my nonverbal agreement for a post, so I still have I say "This" to express it. The current system is better than nothing, but t could stand to be improved.

    • I don't put likes on peoples post, only on Facebook when I use to have an account there.

    • I was going to say there's no point in it because it doesn't tell you when people like your posts, then I saw people in this thread saying it does. Which means nobody has liked any of my posts once. Right in the self-esteem.

    • I like when people like my posts. Other than that, I tend not to click like buttons on forums. Just a holdover, I guess. I never trained myself to use it, so I don't.
For years I replied to threads/posts just saying "I like this", or "I agree". Now with the simple click of a button, I can just like someones post without having to... well, post!.
I admit that it gets rid of annoying "I agree" posts, but from what I can tell, you can't see the number of likes that a post gets, or who has liked it. Does this not sort of defeat the point? You post "I agree" to show your support for something to the world, but when you "like" something you are only telling the OP, and anyone that views your profile.

      • We have a like button? Oh. Look at that. Yeah, I guess it's alright.

      • I suppose it beats the quote/post annoyance, but what surprises me is the "dislike" option at the OP (which I just noticed 30 seconds ago). I honestly feel that if someone doesn't like something someone else posts, then they should either ignore it or respond appropriately on why they disagree. The negative vibes of this button give me the impression of "hate" being acceptable and spead throughout the community as a whole by the means of a button. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go around disliking all of Deej's topics

        • I do, I try to like threads I find interesting and the more likes, the more recognition people get. It lets people know how they feel.

        • I've not used it once, so I have no preference on it. Although, the empty "someone liked your post" notification is slightly annoying.
