Lap dogs are normally ugly and annoying as hell. If you want to get a small inside animal, just get a freaking cat. At least they won't bark or gnaw on everything and just be a nuisance in general. No matter where I go, when I walk into someone's house and they have annoying ass little ankle biters, they're jumping all over me, barking at me, or they're just being little -blam!- in general.
WHAT THE HELL IS THE APPEAL OF A LAP DOG?
Option A: Get a real dog instead and not some little shit that looks like this
Option B: Get a -blam!-ing cat instead. They're much less maintenance and far less annoying.
Moral of the story; if you have a lap dog, I hate you.

4 RepliesEdited by Recon Number 54: 2/6/2013 4:40:42 PMRanging from just under 10 lbs to over 110 lbs. None of which are anything like a cat or would be easily replaced by a cat. I like dogs. I am a dog person. My wife is a dog person. We're dog people. She prefers smaller ones, I like "wrasslin' sized". But they each are fiercely loyal, smart, affectionate, and a part of our pack. Each has determined their place in the heirarchy, each makes sure the others keep in line. I wouldn't want to be without any of them. Sadly, I am without 1. The largest and first in this pack. Mace, the lab/rottie mix in the top center. I recently had to put him down and we all miss him terribly. If you consider any of my smaller ones to be lap dogs simply because they are capable of fitting in our lap? Then you don't know how willingly they will go nose-to-nose with a larger breed and are neither afraid nor intimidated by simple size. That little black one? She's a huntress and is a fearsome little thing when aroused/enraged.

Cats are disgusting animals. In my experience people buy small dogs because they can't control a big dog and still want the companionship. For instance old people.

2 RepliesI don't dislike small dogs, I just really dislike untrained, badly behaved small dogs. The same way people have badly trained, misbehaving large dogs.

Edited by FoMan123: 2/6/2013 7:46:02 PMThat's mine. She's an 8 lb. poodle-maltese mix and both the smallest and the best dog out of the 5 I've owned. Only people who have never owned a small dog would make a stupid statement like big dogs are categorically "better." Poorly behaved dogs are the result of poor training and lazy owners, and that's absolutely regardless of the dog's size. My dog has been through two obedience schools and is more well-behaved than the vast majority of dogs, big or small, that you have ever seen. You want to know the appeal? She's small enough that most apartment communities well let me move in. She's small enough that you can carry her into most stores (except restaurants of course) and we've even had hotels allow her to stay with us. When we fly with her, we just bring her as carry-on luggage and don't have to pay a fee to stick her in a crate in the cargo section. She doesn't need a lot of space, nor does she need to walk 10 miles a day just to get enough exercise. She's quiet, she's easy to control, doesn't shed, and nobody complains when she jumps on the furniture. Little kids aren't scared of her, she doesn't slobber on anything or anybody, and she's easy to clean in the kitchen sink when she gets dirty. Oh yeah, and by the way, she eats and drinks a tenth of the amount of food and water as a big dog, thus making her only a tenth as expensive to feed. She's also less expensive to groom, That means that I can afford to put her on a raw diet, which is far healthier for dogs. Add that to the generally longer lifespan of small dogs, and it means I'll be able to enjoy her company for many more years than I have any of the big dogs I've owned. Hope this answers your ignorantly phrased question.

I -blam!-ing hate lap dogs too. Real dogs are mans best friend, little ass dogs are so -blam!-ing annoying. My mom ALMOST bought a pocket puppy. I would of been so pissed.

All mah bitches need love. OT: Bullmastiff master race.

My dog thinks he is a lap dog, as he expresses by laying on top of you. However, he is a fully grown Staffy/Lurcher cross and weighs a lot.

I agree that most lap dogs are annoying but Pomeranians can be cool as long as they can see. Otherwise they sleep all day and bark at anything like mine.
-
I just dislike big dogs. Take up too much space.
-
Because dog is man's best friend. Because it makes us feel less lonely if we have no one else over. Because they're fun.
-
Why have anything with you at all, ever? Why not be a lonely old man that has no love in his heart because it serves no purpose. Dog is man's best friend, I love dogs. They don't have to serve us a purpose, we can just want to care for them. I love dogs, I have had in my life, 4 Small Dogs and my Lab Mixer. Don't worry OP, I don't hate you. Neither does my first [small] dog which is up in the sky dancing and laughing at the grumpiness you have right now. Seriously though, that dog was awesome, whenever music was on he would actually get up and dance with us, best dog ever.

Dogs are awesome, no matter what the size. Infinitely better than cats. Large dogs have their own set of problems. I have three large dogs. They can break down gates, haul garbage cans around the house, eat xbox controllers, and My German Shepard for some reason chewed the leg off of a table.

11 RepliesTeh puma prefers "Real dogs" as you'd put it, however some small dogs are still excellent choices. Pomeranians come to mind. Jack Russells (if you want to count these in,) are excellent dogs for a variety of reasons.

9 RepliesIt's still about preference. Some people just prefer them and think they're cuter. Honestly, I'm not particularly fond of them myself. I enjoy dogs like collies and receivers, but some people rather have a smaller dog.

You will fear my porkie! Fear all 16 pounds of him!

they like the feel of the animals body resting on their genitals

3 RepliesSituation: You're a dog person, but your apartment complex doesn't let people have dogs over 35lbs. Thus, lapdog.

Cats are evil. I don't see much use for lap dogs, then again My family has one. Darn Pomeranian, and it's as dumb as a bag o' hammers... but, on the upside, it's a cheap(ish) alarm system. It can be entertaining every now and again, so we keep them around.

1 Replybut corgis... and beagles.
