Verison: 2.2 (Bolded stuff is new)
NOTE: My posts about being a 'genius' are pure jokes. If you can't take a joke, then that's fine by me. Just don't spam my thread with it.
SECOND NOTE: Okay, there is NO way this is a Seven theory. It just has to DO with sevens, because Bungie loves them. It’s not ACTUALY a Seven theory.
I found it. I am a total freaking genius.
Bungie is obsessed with the number seven. There are seven Halos, seven Moniters, seven is the holy number of God, and a whole other mess of sevens.
So, naturally, I was staring off to space one Wednesday morning in my second period class (Spanish) in High School. Normally, I use the easy-to-ignore Spanish voice of my teacher to stare off into space and think about Halo, and to dream up ideas for my fic.(Flood Uprising). That day I was considering the marvels of the ‘Bungie Seven’ and was thinking about ways that I could incorporate it into my fic. I was going through every possible biblical reference that I could, and I stopped on a rainbow. I though ‘Huh… what was that retarded thing we learned in eighth grade… ROY G BIV… HOLY SHNIZZLE SEVEN COLORS!’. At this point I was saying ‘holdup holdup holdup, I don’t know anything about this.’. Then I contradicted myself… the monitors are assigned colors. Seven colors. Seven monitors. Seven Halos. A promise from God that the Flood will never be released again. Jackpot.
So, if we assume that the Halos and the moniters are color-coordinated, this would be the way it goes…
Red: Monitor- 2401 Pertinent Tangent. Halo- Delta. Coming in at- 1st. Instalation: 05
Orange: Monitor- Unknown. Halo- Unknown. Coming in at 2nd. Instalation: Unknown
Yellow: Monitor- Unknown. Halo- Unknown. Coming in at 3rd. Instalation: Unknown
Green: Monitor- Unknown. Halo- Unknown. Coming in at 4th. Instalation: Unknown
Here we run into a bit of a snag. I’m not sure if 343 is used as indigo or blue, so I will fill them both out as though they are his halo, although I am not sure. (Also, as far as I know the first Halo has never been confirmed as Alpha, although I will fill it out that way)
Blue: Monitor- 343 Guilty Spark. Halo- Alpha/Unknown. Coming in at 5th. Instalation: 04/Unknown
Indigo: Monitor- 343 Guilty Spark. Halo- Alpha/Unknown. Coming in at 6th. Instalation: 04/Unknown
Violate: Monitor- Unknown. Halo- Unknown. Coming in at 7th. Instalation: Unknown.
So, now we can devise some new information about the way the Halo system works…
The installation numbers are obviously different from the numbers given in the 'Halo rainbow'. My guess is that there are other 'installations' that were not the Halos. It makes sense- the overhead platform upon Threshold could have been called an 'installation', and it wasn't a Halo. I suggest that the Halos were built in this order, but there were other Forerunner objects that were called 'installations' and threw the Halo/Rainbow/Delta-Alpha/Installation system off. (Similar to- Threshold Mining Facility, Installation 3, Alpha Halo, Instalation 04)
Now, you might be asking, what is the big idea, Delta Halo is a bigger installation than Alpha Halo! Well yes, but it makes sense that the rainbows may be assigned also by their location in the galaxy. It would make sense that way also, the colors assigned from a central point could give us the colors. It could also be that the Delta Halo wasn’t completed until later, since Gravemind was put onto that Halo and it wasn’t considered complete until he was on there. What does the central color theory do for us? IT GIVES US THE LOCATION OF ALL THE HALOS.
Delta Halo, although it is called ‘Delta’ would have been built/used first. It is coordinated as the ‘red’ Halo and is the ‘first’. Housing Gravemind and being the first Halo comes in at some new possibilities.
Alpha Halo could be considered as two different Halos, would be coordinated as ‘blue’ or ‘indigo’ and would have been the 5th or 6th, so unfortunately, it appears to not have been as important.
Okay, with that information, we must think on the fact that one of the Halos has been destroyed. Going off of the color-based theory, it would have been indigo because indigo is an OPTIONAL color addition (since indigo is now on shaky ground, it still fits into my theory since Alpha Halo *could have been considered indigo* was destroyed). Now, with that said, there are six Halos left. And there are six Spartans left. What does this mean? Are Bungie’s sevens turning into sixes?
And we must also note that the rainbow was the promise of ‘God’ to never release the Flood again. But they were released. What does this mean? Did the ‘God’ give us a hollow promise? And what caused them to be ABLE to break out and live instead of dieing out like they should have? Was one race re-created too soon and they sustained the Flood? WHAT HAPPENED?
So, what does this whole ‘color-rainbow’ thing bring us down to? A bit of new information, but a bit closer to what I like to call the ‘Bungie code’, and definitely the information that the Halos could have been called ‘The Promise’, or something similar. Also, the side theories give us an in-depth look on how the Halos could have worked, plus the possibility of being able to find the location of each Halo. What will this do for us in the end? I’m not sure, but it will be useful to anybody willing to consider the possibilities.
NOTE: If you have any really good suggestions, post them and your name and theory could come up here. These do not neccesarily have to do with the rainbow theory- a new topic we are discussing in particular right now is the End of Days
pilesofnoodles-

7
49
343
2401
16807
117649
I started squaring numbers in my calculator. As soon as I did this with the number seven, I noticed that 343 and 2401 were not only multiples in the series, but that, in the correct order, this makes perfect sense for the numbering of the monitors.
Greek Letters:
Α α Alpha
Β β Beta
Γ γ Gamma
Δ δ Delta
Ε ε Epsilon
Ζ ζ Zeta
(First Six)
Go to page 16 and look at the post by weesham, about halfway down the page. It explains a very interesting link from Onyx-Bible, and is very interesting.
Del Beano- If you see a rainbow in its entirety, it forms a halo shape. You can usually only see half of it though, hence the "bow" shape.
Spartan624- There are seven layers of Heaven and Hell, all seperate. The Highest layer of Heaven holds the 'Almighty Being' while the lowest level of Hell holds the ULTIMATE 'Demon of Darkness'. If the Halos, in the Prophet's sense are the Heavens, and the Chief's sense they are hell, then what if the Ark is the in-between?
MalocanthPrefect- The Prophet of Truth could be concidered the Antichrist. It makes sense, seeing as the Antichrist is supposed to hold power and be respected by his followers, and then change everything up for the worst *AKA BRUTES* and then lead a war agains the people of God, eventualy bringing around the end of the world *IE: Activation of the Halos*
HeadSlaveDave- and instead of the Greek letter, maybe it is military designation letters
A: Alpha
B: Bravo
C: Charlie
D: Delta
E: Echo
F: Foxtrot
G: Golf
H: Hotel
SIDE THEORIES:
These are side-theories that have sprung up off the topic, the only two right now donated to me by very loyal fans. MLG Chewawa came up with the white monitor theory, and --SuckMyGuts-- helped me to come up with the 666 theory.
Six-Six-Six theory: The Six-Six-Six theory is that, by H3, the 'Holy number of God' (seven) will turn into three sixes. There are-
Six Halos
Six SPARTANS (If you'll notice, the sixth one is the ONE Spartan still reported missing in the Ghosts of Onyx, actualy the only one TRULY missing)
- Unknown -
Noting this, the only MAJOR thing that we have as proof is the Six Halos. They were ALWAYS seven, and they became six after the destruction of Alpha. Still, it is a highly possible theory that sheds a dim outlook on H3- the holy number of God is becoming the sacred symbol of the devil?
White Monitor- (Donated by MLG Chewawa): The White Monitor theory suggests that, since all of the light in a rainbow is combined to form white, the Ark's monitor should be white. The intense white light that was sent out of the Ark when it fired supports this.
Posted by: time maker This stuff is fun to think about in spanish. I sure you made someone at bungie smile. Just to take this one step farther I think it would be really funny if someone found some hidden words in halo 3 when it comes out. Like on top of a level or something that says your name. really nice theory but I don't think indigo is really considered a color in the spectrum.
-
The rainbow theory seems too perfect to not be true. However, the white monitor theory has one gaping loophole. Why would the prophets go through all that trouble to retrieve Guiltyspark if they already had a monitor in the ark inside High Charity? If the white monitor theory is correct, then the prophets would have already found the white monitor, found out how to activate the halos, and "wiped the galaxy of all sentient life." Therefore making it impossible for the halo story to take place. And another interesting thing to consider for future theories would be the Seven Angels With Seven Plagues and the Seven Bowls of God's Wrath, which can be found in chapters 15 and 16 of the book of Revelation in the Bible. Bungie seems to really like their biblical allusions...
-
Best theory yet. I think that most of it is true if not all of it. Nice theory.
-
damn dude that is one intense theory

About how in the bible God sent a rainbow as a promiss not to send another flood again. It actualy sasy that God would never send another flood that would DESTROY THE WORLD again.
Posted by: SF1Medusa i was sitting in church this morning when an interesting term was flashed on the projector, "the cleansing flood". that got me thinking, in GoO, when Ship Master Voro murdered the former ship master, it said something about how he believed that all forerunner related things were sacred including the flood. the following makes no logical sense to the story to me, thats why i'm posting it here, please expound. anyway, what if the forerunner was trying to create a society of eugenics? (a society of perfect "people" without genetic defect and without evil). from a certain point of view, they acheived this goal, the flood live to eat. thats all they think about, they eat and are hungry. there is nothing wrong with this. now if a society of euginics were created, to keep this society perfect, all non eugenic organisms would have to be erradicated. or conformed. this is technically what the flood are trying to do. God CREATED or SENT the flood to cleanse... so maybe the foreunners created the flood in order to allow them to create new life, and actively direct its course. What if all of our history (Eg Atlantis, Olympus) is -at least in the halo universe- evidence of the Foreunners giving us a gentle push in the "right" direction. Which makes me wonder where the covenant races were when the first halo initiation took place.
-
For such a pointless/bizarre/random "theory," this thing sure has a lot of responses.
-
i was thinking about what the oracle says. he says that 'for the flood to survive as a race...blablabla' this makes me think of the biblical references again, and that the forerunners could be 'god', as they were creating a new race, an 'adam and eve' (gravemind?) this made me think of the 7 days of creation. day 1 - god created night/day/light = forerunner - bright lights in the videos? day 2 - created water and land = halos, structures day 3 - created vegitation - lush vegetation on halo day 4 - created sun/moon/stars = simple, exactly that. could also account for earth, onyx etc. day 5 - created birds in sky/sea = birds and fish you see in delta halo? day 6 - created adam, eve, other animals = simple, humans, covenant, animals and...FLOOD day 7 - day off...typical bloke! = forerunners died? thats my theory. also, i think the oracle (343 GS) is blue, because in halo; the flood, he is described as giving off a faint blue glow. thoughts? Sleepy

Halos=forerunner Spartans=human so the remaining six must be covenant (assuming flood were created by the forerunners) So six what??? Elites Hunters Grunts Brutes Jackals Drones Prophets thats seven-elites? Do the grunts and Hunters stay??
