Concept Ideas for a Heavy Submachine Gun
A "Heavy SMG" would likely bridge the gap between the high fire rate of an SMG and the sustained suppressive power of a Machine Gun. Here are three concepts based on current game mechanics:
1. The "Centripetal Force" (Stasis)
Functionality: As you hold the trigger, the gun's fire rate accelerates to 1200+ RPM (similar to a specialized SMG), but it generates a localized "Slow" field around the user.
Exotic Perk: Kills while inside the slow field refund ammo from reserves and create a Stasis burst that freezes nearby targets. It turns the user into a mobile, high-speed freezing turret.
2. "Lead Hailstorm" (Kinetic/Physical)
Functionality: This weapon has no magazine and draws directly from a massive "belt" (your heavy reserves). It features extreme recoil that becomes more stable the longer it is fired.
Exotic Perk: Continuous fire builds up "Kinetic Tremors" on the target. Once enough stacks are built, the target emits a massive shockwave that damages and knocks back all nearby enemies, solving the "close-range" danger of using a heavy SMG.
3. "Singularity Engine" (Void)
Functionality: A short-range, incredibly high-impact SMG. Instead of traditional bullets, it fires micro-singularities.
Exotic Perk: Every 10th hit creates a "Gravity Well" that pulls nearby enemies toward the target. Killing a target trapped in a well causes it to explode into Volatile seekers that track other targets, rewarding aggressive, up-close playstyles typical of SMGs but with Heavy-tier payoff.
