Exhibit A: Deathproof Bounty Removal (Petra Venj)

UPDATE >> Deathproof is now there thx for the attention forumites! For years now I’ve had this small ritual in Destiny 2… every week I open DIM, go to the vendor tab, scroll to Petra, and check if she has the “Deathproof” bounty. It takes maybe two seconds. That’s it. Why? Because it has a chance to drop Vouchsafe. (its the easiest quickest bounty.. maybe in the game to drop a weapon) Yeah… I know it’s Dreaming City loot. I know most of the pool is outdated, the armor is useless, and most of the weapons aren’t worth chasing… but I like the scout. Destab / Repulsor for PvE… and honestly some PvP rolls are still remarkably useful, imo. It gives me a reason to run patrols, public events, Blind Well… just move around the system with a purpose. Grab some glimmer along the way. A side adventure. I’m fine with that. I’ve been doing this off and on for years. The last three weeks though… I’ve been checking DIM every day. My PC is always up with multiple screens, so I glance at Banshee, check Xur, scroll to Petra… and nothing. The bounty just doesn’t show up anymore. It’s gone. A few weeks back I even posted on the forum...twice > talking about how I use that bounty as a way to chase Dreaming City weapons, especially Vouchsafe. Then suddenly… it disappears from rotation entirely. Maybe it’s coincidence. Maybe someone else noticed. Maybe nobody did. But to me it feels symbolic. It’s not just that development feels slow or misdirected at times… it’s that things quietly get removed. Small player loops. Small incentives. Reasons to revisit older spaces. We’ve heard before that economic changes are “for our benefit”… engram adjustments, vaulting, sunsetting, system reworks… but this wasn’t hurting anything. It wasn’t meta-defining. It was just a simple bounty that kept a destination relevant for players who still cared. It’s a small thing… sure. But it’s one more subtraction. No explanation. No note. Just gone. And moments like that make it harder to see a long-term future for the game under Bungie’s current direction. The IP still has value. The player base is still sizable. Under Sony, I genuinely think another studio could take the foundation and do something meaningful with it — if Bungie handed off the code and let a new team embrace what players actually enjoy. Because even something as minor as a weekly Dreaming City bounty… mattered. And removing it… says more than they probably realize.
