Honestly I do not. Crafting was a short term solution to a long term game issue. The issue: Too much RNG from Too many perks in the pool. Any given weapon can have more than a hundred variations with one and only one being what everyone wants. This also causes issues with balancing, and unexpected interactions that player figure out. Leading to never ending nerf train of whatever is the most popular at this moment. Whatever is OP, FUN, or just over used in Bungie's limited view. Crafting pretends to address this issue by letting players get the roll they want without the endless hours of grinding. But it just feeds the Nerf train, because when everyone has the best roll, everyone uses the best roll, and it becomes over used in Bungie's eyes and therefor gets nerfed. The real solution is to simplify, reduce the perk slots form 4 to 2, reduce the total number of perks form 30+ to 10 ish. Make it so the weapon is easy to balance, easy to adjust, limit the unexpected interactions by controlling variables. Make it so a reasonable amount of grind get a drop. ALSO make every possible combination viable, not the best but effective so that you can in fact use it. Reduce the garbage redundant weapons released so that you have one, 2 or 3 in each slot, not one one every type and sub type of weapon. Balance those few weapons so they ALL work well. Make it simple!

RNG on top of RNG, wow amazing. Wonder if those other games that have you make your gear are successful IPs..... Oh wait..

Imo, it's better to have a god roll that I crafted for a while and get to use it before it's nerfed, than spend many more times the hours grinding for the one I want. Playing the game is way more fun than grinding, and it always will be to a gamer. If you disagree you're not a gamer, it's as simple as that.

  • Oh, I agree playing the game is supposed to be fun and engaging. Absolutely the truth. If in fact a better system for gear was implemented, there would not be grinding like there is now. The Game would be easier to balance making playing activities more fun and more rewarding. Crafting could go away because gear and weapons you do earn would be worth using until you got that best roll and it would more often then not never need to be nerfed. With a small tweak weapons could be kept viable in any new content. Crafting takes away form the experience of playing, chasing weapons for red boarders, materials for crafting all add to grind, not take away from it. Meanwhile reducing total number of weapon variations means less grind overall to get that best roll. Again crafting does not FIX the issue of too many variables in drops. Weapons with with more than a hundred possible combinations on a 3% drop chance and you need thousands to get lucky and get that natural roll. Yes, crafting may address the symptom, but does not fix the issue.

I just think crafting should be in the game, all exotics and armour AND weapons including old should be featured, but without being able to have upgraded barrels etc on old weapons, if they so badly want to keep some control over us I mean. Its so irritating that they make this game to please their own personal fantasies of us struggling to do their rubbish puzzles and raid mechanic, yet ignore the people they're trying to sell it to. It completely baffles me.

Double Edged idea. With crafting & everyone having that same perk pool wouldn’t it be easier to narrowing down which perk or combo breaks the game 🤨 (Exotic loot feel rewarding)
