If edge of fate flops gets poor reception like lightfall like the rest of the gaming industry what will happen if game or expansion flops if bungie does layoffs due ro edge of fates flops I wouldn’t be suprised it’s what the gaming industry has been doing

If it fails we will wake up to find Bobby in the shower and all changes being out back to what they are now.

Layoffs or annouce they are closing the servers like anthem

More layoffs, they probably pull more people off the team to just focus on marathon as their last ditch effort. Or, if they stop dragging -blam!- they fully cancel marathon and get everyone back on deck to salvage D2. But I don't see the latter happening, I see both games dying. Or at least D2 continuing to be an afterthought and dying slowly like it already has been.

It can't flop any harder than your English teacher did at teaching you proper punctuation or sentence structure.

If it doesn't do well, Sony won't support D2 anymore Look how fast they bailed on Concord, didn't even try to improve it, 400 million dollars, flushed after just 2 weeks This year might be the last year of new content for D2, if year of prophecy isn't canceled and refunded -
Dude they’ve already had like two waves of job cuts in just the last couple of years. We all know when eof flops they’ll be more. That’s why people like me said they should have made a 3 years ago because 2 would eventually play out and Bungie wouldnt be in a good spot to recover.

10 Replies1) Only Bungie can know if they consider it a “flop” because only they know how much they have invested in it. If they were smart (I know I know… 🤦♂️)… they would have considered that some people would leave after Final Shape just because it was a natural ending and factored that into their projections for Edge of Fate. The 50% fewer preorders number floating around is actually not that surprising to me considering how much less marketing Edge of Fate has received. 2) I put very little value in the hate watch and negativity engagement farming from some content creators. I think people consider Aztecross as the frontman/leader of that group (just in exposure I guess) and he has a very even handed opinion on the games needs and what he’s seen (and he’s the most entertaining of that group to me)… but at the end of the day, the way they play the game and the reasons they play the game clash with what the majority of players are ever going to do

12 RepliesIf edge of fate flops depending on how badly it does I wouldn't expect future support past renegades at that point. As much as I like destiny for its story and lore if it continues to miss financial targets than bungie just need to stop putting money into it and put it on life support.

When it flops I don’t think we can expect much more new content for d2 beyond this year

Edited by Jatmahl: 7/7/2025 10:11:38 PMIt can't flop because they didn't invest too much into it. The expansion is far less than what you would normally get out of one. The major thing about EOF is the reworking of systems.

This just in!!!!

2 RepliesI have thought about that too. However, just to be fair, I still can wait a week longer and then at least two additional weeks to see how this is going.
