Since when does Nova Bomb not affect Nova Warp?

I recently have been noticing that Nova Warp supers are not killed... by much of anything. But a Nova Bomb today was too much. The guy was going back and forth thru it not caring. Has this always been the case? And also why... are Nova Warp absolutely invincible?
