So I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff everywhere about how D2 players are flocking to Warframe (I think the numbers are a bit over exaggerated tho) and I wanted to give my opinion and hear from others. :)
Pros:
- Warframe is better F2P. Largely due to the trade system and being able to trade for premium currency. Content drops are also generally free.
- Lots of stuff to do. 10+ years of content and a significant portion is still in the game.
Cons:
- The game is significantly more grindy than Destiny. With a large portion of the game re-running the same missions over and over in reskinned environments.
- New player experience is basically non-existent for the first 30+ hours.
- Difficulty is rarely ever about skill and more about equipment checks.
- Multiplayer is just unfun for a long while as experienced players just speedrun and massacre everything. Leading to making especially the opening content even more boring.
Neutral:
- Not a real “looter shooter”. If boarderlands is extreme loot variety, Destiny in the middle, WF is waaay on the other side. Great because you don’t have to re-grind for specific rolls, but not the same.
- Movement and gunplay is alright. It’s excellent on MnK, but feels very clunky on Controller
- Clans are very hit or miss and a bunch of important stuff is locked behind them.
Just my thoughts tho :)

Warframe is a good game, but it's not comparable to D2 in terms of gunplay.

1 ReplyI'm still on earth lol. Spent something called Platinum on an Archwing segment cause it sounds cool, and I had the mats to build it. It doesn't work.

1 ReplyFun. Different than Destiny. Not better. Full F2P is more inviting. That being said: Has a more tedious grind than Destiny. Alot of time gating, specifically on crafting. No real endgame. No, Steel path is not endgame. D.E. has a habbit of being creative with new ideas for the game...on paper, but they fall short in game. Things like Railjack/Arcwing, Kdrives, seasonal events, Zaws/Kitguns, companions, Riven mods, etc. Having to deal with people in trade chat is the single worst RNG you will experience in WF. Relic crackjng can get monotonous extremely quickly, specially if you're just looking to speedrun Capture missions. At that point you're just on auto pilot.

In my opinion Warframe has a better fashion system and feels a bit more rewarding than destiny I mean I do feel a big amount of satisfaction when I get a weapon with the perks I want but Warframe when I finally get that prime part I’ve been looking for 10 years I feel so much satisfaction

It's trash and I only play it 'cause I'm clinically depressed. Were it not for that (and I guess a few other factors) I would have never got back into a game that so frequently shows major lack of respect for my time.

Love the game. 1200hrs, 400 of which were probably fashionframing, ikeaframing, or idling. Fashion-frame is my endgame, and I may have a few purchased cosmetic items… It’s weird hearing about clan experiences cause my friend and I usually make our own clans and then never invite anyone except other friends. He’s less active so I’ve essentially brought a solo clan to MR 9. I have no resources and I must research.
so close to getting that Ignis Wraith too.
Right now I usually do Survival Omnia Fissures with my Valkyr Prime for Prime junk for ducats. (Or to accidentally be able to craft another prime warframe…) Just until the next quest drops. So long as I kill and use her melee, I can’t be hurt. Love modding. But that also means I can’t really walk around and explore for too long or I run outta energy and get one shot from high leveled enemies, which sucks. However, spin to win is pretty satisfying so not too bad. I find controller to be pretty simple, pretty sure I gotta stretch my hands for keyboard if I wanna do the same things I do now.
man I had a lot typed out originally. The game is fun, but breaks are definitely good and recommend. I took two big ones from 2020-2023 where I mainly just played FromSoftware games and BG3. Still had the game downloaded though. Always.
2 RepliesEdited by Agent Vulpes: 8/21/2024 6:38:25 PMAs someone who played Warframe with a controller and was a Volt main, I would say the movement felt fine on controller. I mention Volt because his main thing is “haha go fast”.

I stopped when I realized that getting one actually cool character could take weeks or months for a piece and another week to make it and you had to build everything and everything was outclassed easy and that the things I can do out probably outside what I have access to and also that the same environments are used to commonly

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
I played Warframe for a while. Got to MR20, I think and enjoyed my time with it. I stopped playing around the time that Ember’s world on fire was nerfed hard. I didn’t like plains of eidolon very much, and really disliked the archwing missions. That said, I still do a quick log on each day for the freebie, lol. -
2 RepliesIt’s a cool game and many of the things you listed are on point. The gunplay in D2 is head and shoulders better than any other game so it’s one of my favorites. It’s a FPS, MMO and Looter so I get all the things I like. I love Diablo games too etc. It’s tuff to compare games to D2 or expect them to compete seeing D2 is so unique.
