It just feels unnatural. The amount of enemies, the almost nonstop respawn of enemies, the amount of damage it takes to kill and how quickly you can get erased is just abnormal feeling compared to every other location in the game.
Yes, I know, combat difficulty level 3, but why is it level 3? Even the Pale Heart is a 2.
Is there a rotation of locations in the game that turn locations into level 3? Why would you do that when there isn’t an apparent loot benefit to it?
Why do you do this Bungie, why?

6 RepliesEdited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 6/23/2024 10:14:34 AMIt's the same combat difficulty as the campaign of The Pale Heart on Legendary. Right now, Neptune is my favorite location. I also like The Pale Heart, but I take a break from it. I use Neptune since quite some time for testing of gear. If it works there, it works everywhere else too. But I also like its music, colors, weather and architecture. From my perspective, a little more attention does the trick. And sniper rifles really come in handy there. Edit: Someone in my clan once said, you do not owe an explanation to anyone. I keep that advice, but I'm also interested in a constructive dialogue. I know the location isn't easy to play, and I also complained about it at the start of Lightfall. But I also have my distance (because it's just a game), and I see "obstacles" as something to get done to progress. That's my mindset. Bungie paid a price with Lightfall. Not that I wish them anything bad, but their future as independent game developers is at stake. What could be worse? After over one and a half years, Neptune is harmless; I enjoy the location, and I know how to progress even if it's a little excessive. I can forgive them that.

Once I finished my Strand, got the sidearm, glaive, and MG, I left Neptune and never looked back. -blam!- that place.
-
4 RepliesI don't think Neptune was even supposed to exist. I just went back and replayed WitchQueen to help out a clan mante and it is VERY clear that this is where Bungie intended to introduce strand. It wasn't done in time so Bungie cut their losses and shoehorned it into their next expansion and then overturned everything because they had no idea how to balance everything around the new movement.
-
No one knows why, and I play there as little as possible because instead of being fun it sucks
-
I had to finish all the post campaign stuff, an absolutely miserable experience just wave after wave…. It’s crazy to have that …. Sometimes we need to reload or heal, I found the ships that shoot at you the most annoying
-
I haven't been back to Neptune since TFS and thank God for that. It was the worst expansion IMO, for all sid reasons and more. So happy to have never set foot back into that area. I really hope Bungie do not require us to return there for any other "missions" or "episodes". It's actually a slightly worse place than PvP LOL! Seriously.
-
7 RepliesRemember too that Lightfall was a resounding fail overall and that Bungie was afraid of what would happen if TFS didn't live up tp expectations. I have no opinion on TFS as I am not buying it and the intro mission on my characters wasn't that impressive to me. With the changes they made they were not thinking about casual players.

1 ReplyDid the campaign once on my hunter . Never again ! I never use strand on my hunter and i don't mind having no strand on my warlock and titan because i can still do whatever i want without strand . I gilded conquerer 9 times already and have 22 seals ... All without strand . 😉

3 RepliesEdited by Obi-Juan: 6/23/2024 4:39:43 PMOne of life's biggest mysteries. Tuned the patrol zone to be harder than the new raid (root of nightmares). Still can't wrap my head around the thought process
-
Because it sucked -blam!- so hard that they had to things hard
-
1 ReplyThe enemys use be be twice as tanky and deal twice as much damage when neomuna initially released. Then people complained & it got nerf'd. I say revert that change, as I miss it. The only time I felt like I could die was on neomuna(before the nerfs) or day one challenge mode raids. Now days we are insanely power crept. I also happen to agree with salta about nerfing divinity and other difficulty curve changes, you may proceed to crucify me now.

1 ReplyStreamers whine because they play 24/7 and want more of a challenge. Screw the rest of us. Plus the harder the content the more the people need to flock to streamers to figure out things. Case in point a certain hammer used this season (err supposed to be used, few still know how to use it. Heck I did not the first two times I ran till I saw someone else use it!
-
Neomuna feels easier than it did last year.Guns actually do some damage now and lost sectors were pretty easy at -20 compared to a struggle at power last year
-
1 ReplyThis community can't handle slightly stronger enemies which is why pale heart patrol is easy. It should have been the same as lightfall tbh.
-
It’s to do with the power fantasy. Basically how it works is to feel powerful first you need to feel weak so once you’ve become powerful you know it. To make us feel weak rather than nerf everything they make the current patrol zone OP so when you first play it you feel weak and useless. Usually though once we’ve levelled up and become powerful again those patrol zones become easy again. I can’t say why Neptune hasn’t become easy again, Bungie have probably forgot to flick a switch or something.
-
I thought they would've scaled it down post TFS, Pale Heart should've been what Neomuna was at launch, but the weak bunch of the players cried about ads being hard to plink down with their assault rifles and Bungie toned it down for TFS.
-
Bungie said they wanted the game to feel much harder as they got closer to the ending including the new patrol areas. The backlash on Lightfall stopped them from making enemies I think it's -10 or -15 in the Pale Heart.
-
They cant even debug things correctly and youre expecting reasonable decisions 🤣
-
This was their first attempt at “bringing challenge back to Destiny”. I don’t mind going over there but only when I have to
-
5 RepliesThat's a real easy answer: People complained the game was too easy back then and that's what Bungie did.
-
1 ReplyIt was an experiment that I'm guessing could eventually lead to higher level patrol options to repurpose all that unused play space with these planets.
-
Its reminds me of the Destiny 1 DLC of Rise of Iron. Its the forgotten DLC that Bungie doesn't wanna talk about it.

1 ReplyEdited by an engram full of bees: 6/22/2024 9:51:28 PMI know this is a hot take, but it’s still one of my favorite destinations. Not having NPCs is the main issue IMO (it should actually feel like a city). I also like going to a destination and feeling like I actually need to pay attention. Keeps it fresh, and it’s also a great place to test gear for harder endgame content. I definitely understand the frustration though. And it’s strange that the enemies are still levelled at CD3 despite Pale Heart being CD2
-
2 RepliesI think the reason is to "feel the siege" or something like that
-
I really thought they would decrease the handicap after the new DLC launched, but it remained the same as before
-
Bungie wanted to see what would happen if open world was tougher. The responce was negative and they decided not to do that again. However, this has left Neptune in a limbo of being the "hard mode" of open worlds in destiny. Perhaps a future update will take it down to a tier one or two like the others.
