lost characters on disable cross save
Hi,
A few years ago, I migrated to PC.
Our child now plays Playstation 4, wich he inhereted from me.
He also wanted to play Destiny 2, so I told him he had to wait some time.
I had bought silver to purchase add ons a while back.
The time finally passed and I've finally had the option to disable cross save.
You guessed it... All of my progress is gone and all of my characters are now on the playstation account...
Relinking the accounts does not solve any problems in this case, since the kid wants to play too.
If I relink the account, I'd have to make a new PS account. He would lose all of his games and progress. (also for some bs reason, I can't link them for 90 days...)
Is there anyone to contact regarding this issue?
Or do I just quit playing Destiny?

In your case it sounds like they were created using your PSN. Cross save allows you to use that progress and character set on on other linked platforms but it is still owned by the originating platform account, it does not transfer or merge that data to other accounts. Disabling cross save makes it so that the characters are only playable on the original platform. The only way to use them on other platforms is to reactivate cross save after the mandatory 90 day cooldown. This would mean your child would need their own PSN file if they wish to play Destiny 2 on PS4. 2 RepliesAccount progress is always permanently tied to the active platform account - to be able to access your characters/gear again on Steam you will need to wait out the timer and set the PS account as the active platform. Bungie wont transfer it to your Steam account and they wont get involved to reduce the cooldown timer/override it

Edited by EckyThump: 3/17/2024 3:00:01 PMHey there. This is the right place for queries such as this. You set cross-save up with PSN as your Active account, sharing your PSN characters to Steam. Characters are tied to the account on which they were created, there is no 'migration' from one account to another. The whole time you've been playing on Steam, you've been playing on these PSN characters. By cancelling cross-save, the characters reverted back to being PS-only. What you see on Steam now is whatever you had when you first set cross-save up, which looks like nothing. There is no way to move those characters from that PSN account. Unfortunately as per the cross-save FAQ, there is a 90-day cooldown once you cancel cross-save, before it can be set up again.
