1. The casual game-hopper
You aren’t “bad” at the game, but you really don’t know what’s going on in the story. You understand the general mechanics of the game, so you can hold your own in the content you decide to play. You don’t play a whole lot, but you check in every once in a while when your group of friends says something like “hey let’s hop on destiny”. You aren’t too concerned with going “hardcore”.
2. The newbie
You have no idea what’s going on. You don’t get destiny, but your buddies are playing so you’ll give it a shot. Probably not paying for any DLC any time soon.
3. The Disgruntled “back in my day” player
You are a seasoned veteran, but Destiny just ain’t what it once was. You miss the old days of D1 and you wish D2 would go back to its roots. You just can’t quit coming back to the game though. You aren’t necessarily elite, but you have thousands and thousands of hours under your belt so you’re top 10% when you feel like it. You log on every season only to be pissed about what the game has become. You’re “gone after the final shape”, but we’ll probably still see you online sometime during the episodes.
4. The Self proclaimed “Sherpa” and Title Hoarder
You’re guardian rank 11 at all times. You have all the seals and you want everybody to know it. You’ve run more raids than there are people on the planet. You introduce yourself as [name, “Destiny Sherpa”] just so people know you’re elite. You have an oddly passive aggressive tone to your voice, as if every sentence ended with a question mark? You’re aiming to stream full time as soon as your viewership takes off.
5. The grinder
You’re here for loot. Nobody got time for titles, you’re here for the RNG drops. You want god rolls. You believe you built the foundation of this franchise because you stuck it out with the game since the beginning. You’re here to catch ‘em all.
6. The forum warrior
You don’t actually play much destiny. You’re here to stir the pot. You’re anti Bungie just for the sake of being anti Bungie. You’ll regurgitate whatever the trendy Bungie insult is, and you get your kicks by throwing shade and instigating forum arguments at every opportunity.
7. The PvP Chad
You have no time for PvE. You don’t want rift or any stupid objective mode anywhere near your comp playlist. You speak exclusively in “streamer lingo”. You have your K/D tattooed on your arm next to that tribal tattoo (or Chinese star). You have (or once had) a chinstrap beard.
8. The content creator
You are very careful about what you say. You have to be; your channel is at stake. You’re good at the game, but you’re more focused on getting content out. You can’t afford to have a real opinion about hot topics, but you have to capitalize on key moments to keep steady revenue. You’re trying to be unique, but you have no choice but to release the same content the other creators because your channel depends on it. You’re willing to embrace whatever the popular task is at any time, lest you lose viewership immediately.
9. The lore/RPG guy
You’ve always got some wacky build on, but you’re playing this like an RPG. You’re invested in the story, and that’s what matters most. You know exactly what’s going on in the story. You talk about caiatl as if she was your next door neighbor. You’re most likely super into anime. You’ll dress up for gaming conventions, no question. You’d give anything for a night with Mara Sov.
10. MATCHMAKING SUCKS
Matchmaking, SBMM, spawns, connections, it’s all trash. You’re losing matches because “Bungie can’t fix their game”. You’re convinced you’re a god, but Bungie’s ineptitude is ruining your gaming sessions. Why are you still here?

I'm a more Mid core player i'll do raids, GMs,dungeons even trials if the weapon is worth it but I don't care enough to take any of it seriously because my time isn't rewarded 99% of the time.

Honestly I do not know which category I fit in maybe it’s one of the above or none at all.

2 Replies11. Mercernary: get in, get out, & get paid.

I am none of those players in that I am a combination of most of those players. Sherpas, grinding, garbage pvp matchmaking. Why restrict myself to one meme when I can be a memelord?
-
I’m a grinder!

1 ReplyEdited by Chucky: 12/10/2023 8:02:52 PMLiterally nobody wants destiny to go back to destiny 2 roots. Maybe D1 but no one thought changing to double primary ( even in PvE) and static rolls were good. In my opinion the worst decisions made yet

I am the 9 and 5. Sometimes I make silly loadouts to parody game characters or other sci-fi characters, I do also like to grind for loot that I know I want, but without really getting into hard stuff. I am that guy that sometimes dresses as Boba Fett the Warlock that went to the moon and ended up reading a lore book instead of testing his build for PVE.

11. None of the above.

1 ReplyI pretty much fit the bill for 3, except I’m not certain whether or not I’ll be gone after TFS. I’ve never once considered leaving this game until this year, which says a lot.
So many people here are number 6, whether they know it or not. A certain fish being one of them.
2 RepliesI'm #11: The Loner The player who acknowledges that the game is multiplayer but still plays mostly solo anyway, with voice and text chat always disabled.

999. I don’t know I just play.

1 ReplyEdited by crcookie05: 12/11/2023 5:34:39 AM11. The Cute Nerd You're invested in the game and make up side-narratives when the actual content disappoints you. You've been playing for years, but you still don't feel like you're very good at it. That's okay, though, it's still fun and you can always find a fireteam to help you through the parts you struggle with. You might also feel like some of the NPCs are your friends.

Edited by Punisher of Porcelain™: 12/11/2023 4:50:50 PMNone Actually,
12. Gears Veteran You find this game and start playing a little D1 Then the new gears comes out and you start playing it THEN D2 comes out and you come back to one giant cluster -blam!-
I do what I want when the whim hits me lol.

I dig the creativity of the categories, but I'm none of those lol.

Edited by CannyJack: 12/11/2023 4:52:45 AMI think “Lifer Casual” is the best description for me; it’s not in your list, but nothing there fully fits. I’ve got thousands of hours and like, 6 titles. I could not explain the story if my life depended on it. I rarely do master content or enjoy difficult stuff. I don’t have every exotic and only a few god-rolls, and I half--blam!- builds. My lifetime k/d is “potato.” I sometimes would like the game to just give me handouts.

Where's the option to select multiple?

1 ReplyThis one time, I had a dream where I had to headbutt a guy for making too much noise as I was hiding out in a windmill. Pulled my head back and caved his face in like my life depended on it. Woke up as I rammed my head into the wall. I got a mild concussion.

4 RepliesIs there the "Back in my day" but for last year instead of D1? Because that's how I feel

3,5,7, and 10. If you combined those you'd get #11 True PvP No-Life. "When other players with the same amount of time still think that you must have to suffer from some sort of mental issues."
