I mean really?
I focus resil and get a minimum of 10 resilience but I get like 30+ some other stat, and most stats are 5 or less.
I focus mobility and get a minimum of 10 Mobility but get 25+ some other stat and again most stats are low values with some being just 2.
The system of focusing is just another RNG fest that leaves me with more unusable gear with the wrong stats and the need to grind for hours in the hope that at some point I get a drop that gives me the stats I want. It makes me waste resources and has yet to give me a single usable piece of gear.
I understand the need for some RNG but to focus one stat and get 2 times + that stats value in another stat that you do not need is frustrating and makes it seem pointless.
Totally broken. And Bungie wonders why revenue stream is off by 45%. They have no clue what they are doing or how to make the game fun!

It allows you to get high stat gear easy 68+. cause for most players they will never get good artifice.

Edited by Olórin: 11/6/2023 8:16:31 AMFrom the top of my head, i can recall there was a way to tactfully grind stats on gear and i believe its something to do with two different groups all the stats... I could be wrong but from my understanding - Top three and bottom three stats are a collection of two groups.
Mobility, Resilience and Recovery are Group 1. Discipline, Intellect and Strength are Group 2.
If you focus a stat from Group 1 then yes you get a Guarantee 10+ Stat points in that focused Stat pool, the next priority the games armour stat distribution would administer into, would be a stat within Group 2. This is why 2 100 Stats from either groups are easier to farm for stat builds but 3-4 100 stats take a ton of grinding and luck for you to gain the right amount of stat points in either column. This being said it didnt take long for me to grind out triple 100 stats i wanted in the desired slots but thats with help from the Artifice + Subclass 3.0 stat boosts. TLDR - So for example; Focusing Recovering will give a guaranted 10+ stats in that stat pool, next it would prioritise any stat from Group 2 (Discipline, Intellect and Strength).

The top three stats are considered a group as are the bottom three. So…If you want Resilience then you should use the mod that works on a stat you want in the bottom three. Example. You want Resil. Focus with the Discipline Mod on. Google it. It works beautifully and has helped me get the stats I want.

I got some decent numbers from last season. Minimum double hundreds. It’s a great use of those seasonal engrams and an alternative to hunting down artifice armor

The top 3 stats are a RNG group and the last 3 are a separate group. If you want resilience, use a ghost mod that manipulates a bottom 3 stat that you would also like to have. (Discipline, Intellect, or Strength) The game will then distribute at least the 10 points of your mod (oftentimes more), and will distribute another large portion to one of the top 3. There is a chance to get a high bump in a stat you don't want, and some smaller sprinkles in all of them. I guess it's their way of keeping people from getting end game stats with little investment. I focus several hundred over a season. If I had to give a number, I'd say I get a good piece about 1 in 10. (And by good I mean at least 65 that can hit 20+ in 3 categories with a mod)

1 ReplyMost drops have very low stats these days. I always thought they could do something to allow you to improve armor stats over time to build up the total, then have some way to keep re-rolling them until you are happy.

I don’t even bother

I focused warlock legs yesterday for discipline. Got 3 legs, all transversives which I wanted, 10 disc, 11 disc, 13 disc, barely anything in resil or recov either. Deffo manipulated or broken. Then xur sells them, even worse roll than the 3 I rolled lol. Games a sham

It works in some activities and not really elsewhere. Past seasonal activities are notoriously good places to focus engrams into high rolled pieces. But if you are expecting it to work on world drops, that's not how it works.

exotics have intrinsic stat spikes (which is really annoying) so even if you focus a particular stat, the armor might not be disposed to a big spike where you want it, so you get trash. that said, things seem heavily weighted towards mobility in my experience, and bungie manipulating the grind is something they def do.

Keep the mods on while focusing with Eris, you'll get higher stat drops and its a good way to get 63+ armor (I've seen up to 67) without doing Dungeons or Raids.
