How are connections in PvP STILL this bad????
Seriously Bungie (Sony)?!
Connections keep getting worse, and you still refuse to show players connections in the roster! Stop protecting this poor attempt at a hybrid server P2P system and give us regional matchmaking and show EVERYONES connection strengths in the roster.
So sick of ghost bullets, shot thru walls, and stuttered firing. It's so clear that I'm dead before the enemy is even visible on screen.
This game has so much potential, yet you seem to focus on stupid crap like shoving a massive focused quest tab in our faces that no one wanted.
Make Destiny great again.

If you're STILL having issues it's beyond time for you to grow up and admit the issue is actually on your end amd actually fixing the issue instead of pointing fingers.

Very simple. Their infrastructure and net code is pitiful. Always has been. No reason to upgrade if thousands of people will still play it. That is unless your company has integrity. In that case, youll fix it as a manner of pride and customer satisfaction. But as we all know, Bungo does not give two wet farts about that. Youll just have to wait for marathon if theyll implement modern technology.

For certain games modes its CBMM for simple game modes its SBMM while the end game game modes its CBMM and SBMM which players know how to abuse both of the Matchmaking Systems. Its super easy to mess with them, and even by accident it does ruin the game entirely. I can't say if Regional Matchmaking can fix this mess but knowing everyone's Connection Strengths will at least let everyone know who to fight, and how well the connections will be. Plus reporting will be easier since you can see their connection none the less.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) networking, instead of dedicated servers, still do the heavy lifting in PVP connections. It's complicated tech but that's the core reason for poor performance in 2023. There's a reason you don't hear about "connection-based matchmaking" in other games: literally no other modern PVP game uses it. Because it's bad, and presents a host of vulnerabilities. For a number of reasons that I don't know and definitely don't care about, Bungie has chosen not to invest in modern network structure.. despite PVP players investing in them. For nearly ten years.

Because it brings no money to a 7year old game they will totally abandon in 1 year, to have better connections.

Just finished playing pvp and I think I’ll change my name to “contacting servers”. Horrible lag experience and barely playable.

Cross play is partially to blame. I noticed when people aren't on the same platform they seem to skip around a bit for me and vice versa.

Freelance offers better connection quality by allowing to evaluate each player instead taking a guess on a team. Ask them to bring back freelance.

They tried before D2 released, and failed. Point is, port destiny to dedicated servers, and you will end up with 20k players per day on the game, leaving you with hardcore try hards that will make you break your console/pc. So you won’t have any excuse anymore, you will rage and go back to competitive pvp games where you will rage even more without anyone to blame. Sure connections are not the best always, but they’re generally good enough for an engine that was built in 1995.
