Title says it all. I had several of the original Ikelos hand cannons that I had manually changed the affinity from void over to arc and solar. I have enjoyed using them over the years for fun builds in the crucible or simply running around on the EDZ to kill time since you cannot infuse them to current light level.
I log in today and notice that Bungie has changed all of my hand cannons in my vault to be void. I cannot conceive of any reason to do this. A game should be fun. By taking away choices, you take away fun.
Yes, I understand this is just one individual complaining, but really.....what on earth was the reason for this?
Has anyone else noticed this?
*edit update* it is clear after reading several of your posts that this is a real thing. Whereas I hope that it is a glitch that will fix itself, I doubt that is the case. Our favorite loot from years gone by is likely gone forever. To everyone who understands the feeling of loss and the general bummed out anger that comes with it, I'm right there with ya. In my personal opinion, for whatever it is worth, Bungie should undo/fix this. It is a very not cool change that seems completely pointless and only caused people to enjoy the game less.
*final update* I doubt it'll ever happen but it would at least be nice if Bungie would acknowledge the change to our weapons. Even if it's a bug. A reply by a Bungie employee would be great.

1 ReplyProbably has to do with their commitment to sunsetting fomo. Since none of these old alternate affinities could be acquired, they chose to normalize them, just like they did when rolling back armor affinities. Sad to no longer have these little trophies in the vault, but time to clear some space now that the novelty is gone.

I had the hand cannons and sub machine guns. Bungie has destroyed my love for this game. I even let my ps subscription expire. You hear me, Sony? It’s just fine now.

3 RepliesEdited by Codykins: 8/29/2023 10:22:51 AMI noticed this yesterday. I had a Void Darkest Before with 18,182 Crucible kills, tied to my void Crucible loadout, that synergized with my mods, and would have synergized with some of the seasonal artifact mods as well, and noticed it had changed to Arc-- it still has the Purple/Void scope, though. I literally about teared up. Was one of my last OG pieces of gear that people could recognize by it's affinity in the kill feed. Literally turned the game off for almost 2 days out of feeling mopey / down. First thread I've upvoted in probably 4-5 years. Hopefully have a good (or better) rest of your day / night.

2 RepliesIt's just a continuation of sunsetting under a different guise. Something Bungie said they would stop. This is one reason I've completely lost interest in Destiny. I hardly log on anymore, but if I do, I just use the gear that I have. Most new loot is behind the paywall, the weapons are re skinned and re named, so I have absolutely no reason to grind anything for new gear. After spending 9 years of collecting great weapons, only to see them taken away, or made redundant through perk changes, it's finally hit home what a waste of time it was.

2 RepliesThis just made me delete 20 weapons out of my vault. I kept an alt affinity version of all the year 1 endgame weapons. RIP.
-
It's weird that they didn't do this years ago when they took away the ability to get multiple burns on a weapon, and weird that they didn't mention this in the patch notes.
-
1 ReplyI mean I get it…. There’s just no reason to use it over what we have now. Even if this didn’t happen, chances of you using old stuff over the hundreds of new weapons we have is slim to none.

Edited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 8/29/2023 12:49:26 PMThanks for posting this... Now I can tell my hoarder buddy to finally delete his 😂 man hasn't had vault space for years

Who cares it's outdated and there are 2 newer versions😅

No point in grinding when this happens. I’ve seen quests for weapons that I’ve already got, only to find out there gone. Fed up with this game.

4 RepliesEdited by TractorCannonGuy: 8/29/2023 4:49:39 AMThere's literally no reason to keep old weapons, who cares what element it is? Shit painted gold is still shit

10 RepliesOh no you can't use your useless weapons with their useless affinity anymore whatever will we do?
-
2 RepliesI just checked my old A Single Clap that I had switched to Arc back in y1 and kept on my Hunter. It's Solar now, which entirely messes up my Arc subclass build bc I don't have any other Arc special weapons on that character. Ugh, this sucks
I know it's pretty silly of me to main a sunset weapon, but I've grown really attached to it and don't want to replace it
1 ReplyYeah, what the hell, my void ikelos smg is arc now, what the hell?
-
Gotta get you hoarders to start deleting weapons somehow.
-
2 RepliesYou this change happened years ago when affinity was removed
-
7 RepliesYeah especially during the time of sunsetting years ago. If I pull them from collection, it’s different.
-
4 RepliesI’d imagine this is a bug, really no upside to it. But how do they even make that right? Maybe let classic weapons swap affinities again or something?
-
4 RepliesSo I have not checked yet but I had several if not many burn variant weapons. Most of OG Leviathan weapons, quickfangs.... This is a sh!t move, there are reasons we keep things, to each there own but we all have reasons that keep us engaged. Some of us like our old relics because of nostalgia and that is ok. Has anyone checked if our 0 power gear from Red War is still 0?

I just noticed this too on the two guns I had. Wth Bungie?!?
-
Sadge.
-
Bungie: We want you to play your way. We want you to bond with your weapons. Players: Great. Here's these guns I really like, so I've made where I can use them to get kills/break shields for any Light energy type. Bungie: Well... no... not like this. You can only use them for void. Look... it is Bungie's game. They can do what they want. And there is probably a server data reason why they did this. But, they need to stop with the "play your way" and "form attachments with your guns" if they aren't going to actually let us do it.

I just noticed that a Null Calamity that I had set as Solar is now Void..
