Rift can be fun and spicy, I think it's a cool game mode.
But in its current form it's broken and frustrating. Spawning at the point farthest from where you died is a completely broken mechanic. How are you supposed to engage in the match when you have to spend about 15 seconds traversing the map to even get line of sight on an active player.
Fix the spawns, or remove rift from comp. I figure the latter is easier since y'all like to overcomplicate things. Keep it simple. Make it fun. Kill the mode.

Nooooo it’s a perfect, love it

Bungie has commented on this and plan on removing it sometime

2 RepliesI agree 100% 3v3 rift is a horrible mode to have in comp, idk what Bungie is thinking. Comp would be perfect if this mode was removed. Rift is the only reason I haven't tried comp because it would mess with my potential win stats. Literally every other competitive game with a comp mode just has the core modes included, not experimental side bs like rift. I did LOVE rift in iron banner though, it's a good 6v6 objective mode. 1000x better than fortress. But that's 6v6, 3v3 is a totally different and horrible story, especially when wins actually matter. Terrible decision. Bungie: please remove it from comp and replace fortress with rift in IB. If anything, just remove rift from comp and fortress from IB both modes suck for different reasons. I hate fortress so much, put it in a side PvP mode or something instead. Just alternate between Eruption and zone control. Eruption is the best PvP mode destiny has ever had, period.
Spawning at the point farthest from where you died is a completely broken mechanic.
Just don't die. Spawning so far away is LITERALLY meant to be the tie-breaker for snowballing. Have you ever played Destiny 1? It was either stomp or teams constant picking up and dying with the spark at the same spot. At least D2 version is more fluent and ends round consistently.

1 ReplyRift is hot garbage, every time I see it in the intro I just want to eat the comp point loss, but I don't want to leave them body down. Remove this trash gametype.

Rift needs to be removed 100% and the sooner; the better.
-
12 RepliesRemove pvp. No skill game type anyway. Nothing but special ammo usage. Would love for it to go to special ammo drops.
-
Wish granted I guess

1 ReplyThe secret to making comp rift fun is grabbing the spark and running to the back of the map and dying to drop the spark there. Then have your teammates rez you and just defend the spark for as long as you can.

Last season, Rift was my favorite mode. This season, Rift is absolutely horrible

1 ReplyIt's being removed, when exactly I forget what he said in the video.

the spawns are so bad it takes all the skill out of the game mode.

2 RepliesBest PvP mode ever invented I want Trials Rift!!

I love how Blackburn acknowledged that most players hate Rift in comp yet it’s still there for some reason. Like if you know it’s bad and you know you’re going to remove it, what are we waiting for?!

4 RepliesBeen wondering why is it still here? Didn’t bungie announced the removal of Rift from comp? Crucibles need a new game mode called Objective game mode. They need to separate tdm from objective.

1 ReplyReddit was talking today about how spawns got worse… I’m scared for my placement matches lol

Noooooo!

Nah Rift fits well with comp. /s

naah keep it, its good now, easy win for strand warlocks

I love 3v3 Rift. Fair enough if people don’t like it, but I’ve never understood the complaints about spawns. I’d say 99 times out of 100, I spawn where I think I should spawn (based on what’s happening with the spark, where the enemy is and where my teammates are). If the enemy is contesting the spark or pushing close to your Rift, of course you shouldn’t be able to spawn in and immediately join the fight. If an opponent kills you, they’ve earned the right to get you out of the way for a bit. Yes, when the enemy moves quickly, you can end up far away from them, but that’s a problem for your team to solve. It’s up to your teammates to slow them down (not necessarily get kills) so you have time to get back to the action. It also stops teams spawn trapping their opponents and endlessly killing them.

I like rift with 6 players . I don’t think it works very well with 3.
