How do you get red border guns?

I've been grinding dates forever and not a single red border Wastelander. I've beaten the witch queen campaign. I'd there a way to make them less impossibly rare?

I believe you’re guaranteed one per week from the final chest on legend. That’s the only guaranteed as far as I know. Others are just cashing in keys and grinding.

Wastelander is Dares of Eternity. Does Bungie really not give any hint of these things or tutorials anymore?
