Overcharge Weapons and Surge will Limit build crafting hard

Having to use certain elements and weapons to be viable for content completely counter act the changes you made for no more match game, and the “leaning into build crafting” that you are adding. Having to use certain elements and weapons isn’t fun and dictates your player identity, I love using auto rifles I have pvp and pve auto rifles but having to switch off of them to deal with a champion or now just to be optimal in game, sucks. Every weapon type should have a path towards victory in different ways that reward certain play styles, but having a definitive “this weapon” and “this element” all the time, gets rid of the point of build crafting. I was very excited for builds and I still am hopeful, I just hope these changes don’t negate one of the best features being added to the game.

  • The funny thing is, we never complained about the original version of this in D1. These modified used to be things like Small Arms, massively beneficial and actually made this ridiculously fun to engage with. Enemies weren't tuned to expect that we were engaging with them so you didn't HAVE to change anything if you didn't want to. I can't be the only one -blam!- being stoked to play the game when the stars aligned and we got a combo like "Specialist, Airborne, Arc burn", me and my buds would spend the evenings hopping through the playlist with 4th horseman, just deleting everything we came across. Bosses would topple in literal seconds. It was fun! Now however, Bungie is buffing the enemies to counter the modifiers, making it so it's more a necessity to run matching equipment, instead of a fun choice. Even beyond that they are limiting the choices on a season by season basis, because, that makes sense, only having access to half of our elemental repertoire for an entire season...
