It really feels like every single change this dev team brings to the game should be a massive improvement on paper and they manage to turn it into a downgrade within a slight upgrade.
I mean reading through this build crafting essay, all i was thinking was "why remove wells and why remove warmind cells". Isn't this an evolving live service game? Why does this company desperately need to limit our personal choices with every single update.
Also players have been asking for less limitations on champion mods forever. Your answer to that request by hundreds of thousands of players is only to remove energy and mod slot cost. Yet you will still dictate our playstyle because you refuse to provide general mods to deal with champs. I don't want to run stasis or arc. I do not want to run a pulse rifle. I want to run my frickin smg or handcannon with a sniper or a gl on a void sub, let me stun unstoppables ffs. Stop telling me what to use. How hard is it to give champion stuns a mechanic or something. Be creative for once. Other mmo's did it better for 20 years.
Sunsetting, the destiny content vault, deprecated mods, deprecated vendors, weapons constantly being vaulted. Why are they trying so hard to limit us? I just don't get it at all. If you want to upkeep an MMO, let it grow. Every MMO i played before grew. With every single aspect of the game.
This game on the other hand keeps shrinking. I just can't get excited about anything these devs present to us anymore cause theres literally always a "but" attached to supposedly positive changes. And that "but" is mostly a drastic one.

43 RepliesHere we go again. The functionality of Wells was shifted over to the Subclasses with the addition of Void Breaches and Firesprites for Void and Solar, with Strand getting its own spawned objects in Lightfall. This obviously means new Fragments to allow those to spawn (if current ones aren't updated) since the Blog post confirmed they're coming. As such, I believe converting the old Elemental Well mods to Orbs of Power is a fair trade-off with its own benefits for new builds. It is a shame that Warmind Cells are gone, but those only worked Seasonal Weapons from over two years ago and the Ikelos weapons, and weapons dealing explosive damage with a specific mod. If your main complaint about Anti-Champion perks being added to Subclass abilities comes down to simply not wanting to play two specific Subclasses, then that's just hypocrisy. You can't say Bungie is "limiting personal choices" when you go out of your way to limit yourself by refusing to play specific subclasses, or deciding you only want to use specific weapon types because that's what it comes off as. Sunsetting was bad for the game, yes. But they realized that and stopped doing it after Season of the Chosen came out, and said they were not going to sunset anything anymore. Since then, they've brought back old raids from Destiny 1; they've transitioned all the Light Subclasses over to the same system Stasis started with in Beyond Light; they've introduced Weapon Crafting; they've rolled out perks on weapons that finally synergize with the Element Subclasses. Now, in the upcoming year, Armor Mods are getting revamped; Artifact Mods will become passive; the Subclasses are getting Anti-Champion properties; Strand will become the fifth Subclass, and with it, Strand-synergistic weapon perks; Solar and Void are getting element-specific objects like Stasis Shards and Ionic Traces, and they are also adding new mods. All that growth, all that change, but that's apparently not enough for you?

5 RepliesThey are removing warmind Cells! With the new system it'd be exciting to create new builds without armor elements ruining anything. And yet... what use are Seraph and Ikleos weapons without Cells? My creativity and uniqueness is being usurped to simplify things for players. So much for Guardians being unique. All this will do is push players into what is meta. Wells near replaced Cells. But I still find Vells far more useful than wells would ever be! I denounce these changes, so long as it stops me from enjoying the game.

1 ReplyLike, they're literally taking away 2 out of the three build options we currently have (Warmind Cells - going away completely, and Elemental Wells - which won't be in the mods per se anymore). So, as far as we know, we're all going to run the same "Charged" build and a few utility mods like scavenger mods and the likes. Wow, so much for buildcrafting eh
-
maybe, we lose wormind cell to get a lot better system

4 RepliesBungie: new season, you can now craft Ikelos weapons or get Seraph weapons in Spire Also Bungie: in the next season we are making these weapons we JUST PREVIOUSLY brought back obsolete and pointless to use because WE don't want YOU using Warmind Cells

29 RepliesEdited by Grim: 1/19/2023 12:38:21 PMI was all for it till I saw the first "but" in the twab then it just started going downhill from there, removing the capability of having all mods unlocked again because of it being too op, wtf bungie that's just another excuse and you know it!?!? Limiting us by removing wells and warmind cells and returning to orbs of power, f*cking why? Every f*cking time there's any new ideas with bungie its always 2 steps forward 12 steps back. You finally listened about champion mods but destroyed everything else for no reason whatsoever and did more pointless crap that no one asked for. This is bs nobody wanted wells to go away people where just getting use to them. I personally believe that bungie has a vendetta again us they don't like it when we get set in our ways and final have a way to out do their stupidity. They do this every time, they try their hardest to turn the game on its head every couple of expansions and ruin any sort of setup we had that made the game manageable and fun. I'm so sick of it, theres no point in trying when everything you do is micromanaged by a team of clowns whose only goal is to limit your fun and make everything a tedious chore to do.

Tl;dr some of us will never be happy

It isn’t limiting (except for warmind cells), wells and orbs are just now consolidated. It should work the same way as before but now your orbs will benefit others even if they aren’t running your specific build (wells or traditional orbs). Removing element on armor only removes a pretty arbitrary barrier to build crafting. Should encourage diversity if anything

1 ReplyI think people are glossing over a very important detail, Orbs of Power. Did everyone forget how powerful our builds were when we were able to create Orbs of Power on demand? We adapted to using Wells of Light, but I think there is going to be incredible potential with the new builds in Lightfall. In any case, the community will come up with the new meta within a week of Lightfall that everyone will use anyway. Even with that said, I'm very excited about the following: 1. Removed elemental affinity: Not only is this going to remove how tedious it is to swap between different elemental armor, but it will make it SIGNIFICANTLY easier to make builds with just one or two sets of armor. Also for any DIM users, it is going to allow you complete customizability over builds now that this is going away. 2. Permanent Artifact Mod unlocks: Most people are talking about this being a nerf when it couldn't be further from that. Let's look at this season's Artifact for example. You could use the following mods at the same time without using ANY energy on your armor: - Lucent Finisher - Weakened Clear - Unstoppable Grenade Launcher - The entire first column of anti-champion weapons - Counter Charge - Energy Diffusion Substrate - Plus any other 2 you want outside of the final column. That's insane. On top of that, you can change your artifact at any time at no cost to truly optimize your build at any point. This is going to be a MASSIVE buff. 3. Removing Match Game: Easily the most annoying part of End Game content is changing your loadout just to ensure you have each element on you. This is going to allow us so much more flexibility in builds. 4. Anti-Champion ability stuns: Again, going to further allow us to make more creative builds without feeling like you need to run double primary in order to be effective. Sure, will it be sad to see Warmind Cells go? Yes, it was truly fun while it lasted, but this is a massive positive change.

2 RepliesMost of the changes seem good till you realise... A. The artifact mods being passive unlocks means we have to constantly reset the artifact just to change a single mod. B. The "new" mod system isn't new and is just CWL with a different name and they just merged all other mods into it and made Taking Charge the defacto mod for gaining stacks besides the other CWL ones. C. With Cells and Wells being removed there is no longer "combat styles" all of the mods are going to function the exact same way being "x thing takes x armor charges" or "x takes x charges over time". They are literally saying "we are increasing build diversity by removing build diversity" lol.

1 ReplyOh, they'll 'Bungo' it for sure. Incompetence, baffling decisions, it's what they do. And that's without considering... Changes don't really happen to the game unless they are easy, and benefit Bungo. I'm certain the 'minimum effort for maximum reward' test has been applied to these changes, as well as every bit of recycled dress sim crap that Lightfall will be bringing for its inflated price.
-
2 RepliesI don't trust Bungie to do anything the right way. It will be a huge mess full of bugs just like everything else they do.
-
1 Reply
I just can't get excited about anything these devs present to us anymore cause theres literally always a "but" attached to supposedly positive changes. And that "but" is mostly a drastic one.
It's kind of funny how some try to downplay this business actions. Their track record literally proves what you said, yet some will ignore it or try to get others to ignore the truth so they don't have to face the truth. This business is known to always change something or multiple things no one asked for when they "improve" anything in this game. So in all, the game ends up staying stagnant, never really going anywhere.

There may be an exception or two, but for the most part when I think of big changes from Bungie they've had hidden nerfs that went along with them or changes that made them far from the original concept. I don't expect this to be any different, and after over 8 years I know better than to blindly get excited about anything Bungie does anymore. I'm looking forward to having new content to do, but beyond that I'm not excited about anything until I see it in practice.

9 RepliesOn paper everything sounds as a big W. People are excited and that's OK. However, many things can be read between the lines. Guardian ranks and grind behind them, locked lodouts, locked mods possibly even for people with thousands of hours of playtime if they didn't do raids, nerfed mods, current builds destroyed, artifice armor nerf, warmind cells killed, elemental wells "nerfed"?, etc. They gave us all the good news, but kept all the bad news to themselves. We need to hear the bad news as well, before buying the expansion. No more dirty tricks.
-
1 ReplyYa, however.. They made the Elemental features like Volatile rounds and blinding debuffs.. now stun Champs. So you literally dont need to equip a champ mod if you think about it.

Isn't this an evolving live service game? Warmind cells are useless, they're only usable on a small percentage of weapons and builds and don't really do much more than a weak explosion and a boring status effect. They're clutter. The subclass changes gives everyone a way to stun champs, if you don't want to be pushed to build craft and use different things for once then an MMO isn't for you.
Sunsetting, the destiny content vault, deprecated mods, deprecated vendors, weapons constantly being vaulted. Why are they trying so hard to limit us?
There is no more vaulting or sunsetting. You're complaining about an issue which no longer exists. Also deprecated vendors? Which ones lol? Every vendor is still relevant like they've always been.
I just don't get it at all. If you want to upkeep an MMO, let it grow. Every MMO i played before grew. Quantifying growth by how many useless blues there are isn't a measurement you should use.

The only problem with this TWAB I had was(unless I read it wrong) earning the ability to have load-outs and a maximum of ten.

3 RepliesSometimes. I am speechless. Some(times) people will never be satisfied. To find a fly in the ointment. In every ointment. That's my emotional reply. The scientific reply is: Try it out, experiment with it, collect data (experience) and afterwards come to a conclusion. Come Lightfall we will know more.

Learn to change your loadout up. Stop relying on the same 3 weapons for years at a time

Wow...my comment was deleted by Bungie's fun police 😂.

Edited by JazzyPaladin477: 1/19/2023 3:58:56 PMThere will be a “bungie twist” that will ruin the system. There always is. It won’t be revealed until the last minute. (See armor 2.0 elemental affinity) Some new unobtainable throttling currency is also guaranteed. (See legendary shards, masterwork cores, enhancement cores, enhancement shards, ascendant shards, upgrade modules)
-
I dislike the changes not because they're deleting "build options" but because they're doing it for the sake of build crafting and simplifying it for casuals; Bungie has forgotten the wonders of a simple and good gameplay system
-
everything looked pretty good, but yeah the whole champ thing irked me. imo would have been better to have every weapon type have all champ mods, so you would have auto rifle barrier, overload, and unstoppable mods and same for all other weapons. you would still have to put a little thought into it but you would be able to use whatever you want.
-
1 ReplyUsual Bungo BS. They say they’re making it simpler and easier to use, but we all know how convoluted and restrictive it will really be. Whenever they give us something, they always take twice as much. After a few weeks, everyone will see Lightfall as just the usual garbage, just with a few gimmicks and flashy colours and the promise of many changes…that won’t be introduced for three or four seasons. So get ready for Bungo to continually tell us how excited they are for all these new coming changes…to be added at a later date🤣

I think we should be able to reroll armor stats. I don’t mean reroll the total stats. If you get a total of 50 to drop the total remains the same. But let’s say you use the ghost mod that targets what you want such as high discipline. It gives you what you want but a high stat in mobility on a titan or wherever you don’t want. And then you got 2’s on the rest of the stats. You should imo be able to reallocate those points especially for exotic armor pieces. I don’t see how that could be an issue since we have weapon crafting that gives us the weapon rolls we want. Why not allowing us to reallocate armor stats? This is why I don’t grind out the lost sectors for the exotic armor pieces. Even with a ghost mod you can still get a lot of crappy stats and on top of abysmal drop rates even on master difficulty it’s not even worth it to me.
