Those PvP streamers who are complaining about SBMM are whining because with it, they can't jump into a quick play map and easily own it and then post videos about how dominant they are against players, like me, who are far less skilled at PvP. I've seen many videos where they claim that's not the case. That's BS. Awhile back I saw one of these PvP gods showing a pre SBMM quick play match where he went something like 50-0 and got some super rare medal for it. Would he have been able to do that if the players he was up against were at or near his same level? Not an efffin chance. There was another vid from a PvP god showing his first match with Vex Mythoclast where he shredded the opposing team and got nearly 50 kills. Would he have been able to do that against players at or near his skill level? Not an effin chance. No effin way.
For players like that, connection base matchmaking is a little like me dropping down to the Cosmodrome to farm kills to get a deepsight weapon done. Practically everything is a one shot kill. That's what the PvP god streamers want from quickplay. They want to own the map against far less skilled players than they are. They don't want to work for their kills. They just want to dominate with ease.
When SBMM was changed to connection based MM, half the matches were mercied and there was almost always one or two players who were way better than everyone else who would routinely finish with 40+ kills. Everyone else on the map was just cannon fodder. That may be great for that one guy, but hardly fun for everyone else.
SBMM has its problems, sure. Creating Crucible is like herding cats, an always chaotic work in progress. But even with SBMM's problems, it's working and I'm playing Crucible again and I can hold my own with the other players on it who are at or near my skill level. Matches are finishing closer. They're not being mercied anywhere near as often. I'm having fun in Crucible again. I hated the connection MM Crucible where all I was was cannon fodder for PvP junkies.
Streamers speak with much louder voices than we do. Their whines get noticed by the devs more than the average players. They have more influence. This whining about SBMM from streamers is likely being heard by you, Bungie.
You get rid of it, I'll be done with Crucible again. I'm not at all interested in being a bullet sponge for some streamer who wants to own every quick play map and make videos about how effing wonderful they are.
And fine, troll me if ya want with some insipid "git gud" BS. I don't give a rat's a__.

13 RepliesTotally agree, the first Iron Banner this season was the best experience I ever had in PvP, it was so much fun because I - as a pretty mediocre PvP player - had an impact nd was not only a victim. SBMM works, it will never be perfect, but what a fantastic improvement to PvP! Keep it going Bungie!

8 Replieshttps://trials.report/report/2/4611686018428811047 Shut the front door.. Your hardly even play pvp, and you want to be a voice of decision. No thanks. Sbmm has made game’s laggy and UNBEARABLE, I’d rather a mix of good and bad players with a better connection! At least if I hit my shots they will land.

Mad cuz bad. Get gud, pvp is in a terrible state because of it so it’s pretty obvious you only do your 9 games a dip for the week. Go cry about pve

Edited by Kuzie: 1/13/2023 11:35:22 AMPvP now plays like complete trash it's laggy as hell Movement is capped to a ridiculous level AE is nowhere to be found Ability spam especially with titans is childish at best. Another pulse rifle meta.. Bungie are catering to casuals and its killed the mode It needs to stop I really can't run QuickPay it's painful having no-thumbs bumping into your character 24/7 because they can't read the radar or don't have map awareness. The entire PvP team should get the boot They're just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks while trying to please those that don't want to invest any amount of effort into improving their game skill. Bums on seats won't save a game franchise from dying

Edited by Dmitri: 1/12/2023 8:01:22 PMno mate, they just want to have matches where there isn't 18024ms latency. I'm not even high skilled pvp player and the lag is awful.

Bungie doesn't listen to streamers, they listen to numbers. If SBMM brings more numbers, more player engagement to the table it's gonna stay, if not we gonna go back to CBMM. I'm just curious how bungo calculates player engagement. I mean like are 10 players with 1k/d playing 10 matches per week more valuable, than one 3k/d player playing 100 matches per week?
-
3 RepliesI honestly didn’t mind the previous matchmaking, but the PVPers in this thread are such dillholes that I hope SBMM is here to stay. If you want to be a jerk, be a jerk, but belittling others and being generally unpleasant isn’t going to win any support for your cause.

1 ReplyNot sure why people haven't thought about getting a seperate playlist in the top right corner (akin to freelance, but change the icon or something) that's called "Skill-Based Quickplay", or "Casual Quickplay" and have the big icon be whatever the vice versa is. I really do not understand why we are forced into a single lobby and cannot opt out of it. BTW, get good private account.

2 RepliesI’ll keep my response short and sweet. I hate SBMM simply because I’m tired of laying a whole mag into someone then losing that gun fight. Only to have that same player walk 3 feet after killing me then dying to my shots.

I don't give a rat's a__.
Unfortunately Bungie is in a circular back scratching relationship with streamers Here’s my theory: Streamers promote the game through their content creation of them playing the game. Bungies back is scratched Bungie creates parts of the game that will allow the streamers (who all have the best gear BTW ) appear to look like gamer Gods in their content. They get more views more subs more $$$. Streamers backs are screatched The minute that Bungie invited streamers to attend a summit where they were allowed to give their input on the design and the future of the game it was over for the rest of us

2 RepliesI would be happy to go back to CBMM. If they change how weekly bright-dust is earned, something like 80% from first vendor you do the bounty for 15% from 2nd and 5% from 3rd. So I wouldn't feel like I needed to suffer through PvP at all. Then they can make pvp for the people that want the best pvp experience and stop trying to make it better for those of us that only do it because 1/3 of our weekly cosmetic currency is locked behind it. As long as I'm compelled to do pvp I want to stick with the system where I don't average 1 kill a match like I did in CBMM
-
1 ReplyNope it needs to hit the road and don’t come back

Yawn muted

81 RepliesNo need to straw man, just tell it like it is. You want Bungo to say F actual PvP players let them have terrible laggy lobbies for the sake of you getting lobbies that make you feel like you aren't as bad at the game as ypu actually are.
-
Have you seen True Vanguard's video? He says he likes not having bot walkers in his lobbies throwing, but prefers connection based matchmaking because his shots register and melee is less laggy. Look at my stats. I'm the type of player that Skill Based Matchmaking is intended for, and I prefer CBMM. I'd take getting curb-stomped everyday to the game being borderline unplayable. I can't relax and unwind anymore additionally because the casual playlist is full of people my skill level, making the only winning option the meta. I don't even get better faster, having to adjust my play to higher leveled players. I actually liked matching people who out skilled me just so I could see what a really good player looked like, and learn to counter certain plays. SBMM benefits no one really. It's a surface-level change with good intentions that hurt the game rather than helped it.

6 RepliesYeah sorry but this is a dogshit take. You wanna know how all those PvP sweats got where they are? By -blam!- practicing and getting better, and news flash, they did it when cbmm was in PvP. Sbmm doesn’t encourage you to get better, it actively punishes you for it, because the second you finally get better and have the best performance in a lobby the matchmaking instantly has a knee-jerk reaction and shoves you up into the next skill bracket, where you proceed to get -blam!- on. At least with CBMM, your shots -blam!- register. I don’t have to wonder if a melee will hit air every time I enter a gunfight. I don’t have to worry about getting sniped through walls or my shots straight up whiffing into thin air. Do what every other good player did - stop whining about having to occasionally play people better than you and get -blam!- good.
-
When sbmm eventually goes away I’ll take great pleasure in bagging and shooting yalls ghost. You need to get better if you wanna play pvp that’s the entire point of the game mode. It’s pathetic that you need bungie to protect and shield so your feelings don’t get hurt. Your experience of ending at a .3 is the same in sbmm and cbmm so please instead of whining just get better
-
Sbmm is a joke with people teleporting around. I'd rather be farmed with a fair connection, than fight an invincible unbroken from the other side of the globe.
-
6 RepliesDo you not realize streamers are like 1% of the community? I hardly ever match a streamer and I reset 6+ times a season. It’s pretty ridiculous that you want a good playing experience at the cost of someone else’s. You need to get it through your thick skull that there are going to be players better than you.
-
Again, I much rather lose to a better player than to one lagging all over the map. I've reported more players for their connection since they switched to SBMM. Happens every time. We need a better system overall. Dedicated servers will be a great start but Bungie will never do that.
-
I say dont listen to the whiny .5’s who probably still couldnt counter someone walking straight at them with a shotgun.
-
4 RepliesIt's really weird the obsession bad players have with streamers . And to no surprise, this one hides his profile.
-
5 RepliesAnother clueless SBMM -blam!-. First of all, SBMM is not working as you think it does. Secondly, everyone suffers from this SBMM, regardless of their skill. Lag is real, and it got much worse with SBMM. I'd take being rolled over by unbroken sweat-lords every second match vs. this pathetic lag-fest where I'm killed by unkillable teleporters all the time.
-
22 RepliesThis argument is so BS and tiresome. SBMM equates to extremely laggy games. It has nothing to do with streamers or wanting to stomp lesser skill players, and I think you know that.
-
Posts like this are so braindead and I miss haunter deconstructing them every time.
-
2 RepliesSpmm is trash because now people can't play with their friends or clan mates as someone is always getting farmed because either you are in a higher skill bracket and your friend is suffering or they are in a higher one and you're suffering
