Wong "Active" Platform in Cross-Save?

I play on both Xbox and Steam. I tend to play more on console, so have Witch Queen only on Xbox for the time being. I then logged into the game on my Steam account for the first time in a long time and now the Cross-Save page says it's showing characters "from your steam account" and the "Steam" column shows "active" in the grid below. Similarly, the Previous Season rewards page shows my "Active Platform" as Steam, with no other option in the drop down. The Cross-Save setup page shows both platforms. I am logged into the game on Xbox as I type this. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Everything seems normal, but I'm pretty sure I had cross-save set up before, it was showing my Xbox account as "active," and that was as it should be.

  • Your Xbox account shows no Destiny 2 data of its own. As your cross-save setup is showing, you are using your Steam account’s save data when playing the game, regardless of which platform you are playing on. Given that your characters and progress are tied to your Steam account, that is the account that you want to have as your active save. If you made your Xbox account data the active save, you would lose access to the characters you have been playing all this time. Cross-save allows players to use the save data from one single account, across multiple platforms. The data will always remain permanently tied to that original platform, and it cannot be transferred. So while you may play more on your Xbox console these days, your Destiny 2 characters and progress will always be tied to your Steam account. The Xbox account is merely borrowing that save data, while cross-save remains active.
