I want to play Destiny, genuinely. But I haven't in at least a month, and it's because I refuse to deal with the laughably bad system. I'm using laughably literally, not as rhetoric. When I told a friend less involved in the game that the highest tier of nightfall is playtime gated, he genuinely laughed. He thought I was telling a joke.
I've thought about running trials, but I then get reminded that unless I do the prerequisite grinding of activities I have zero interest in until I get lucky enough to hit a high enough pinnacle light, most of my loadouts would wind up unusable. Having to 4 tap with Polaris Lance, or triple melee because I haven't done my weekly 3 matches of gambit enough times is insulting.
I've been told in the past that I'm just not grinding in the right order, that it'd be fast if I did things correctly. I don't care. I enjoy grinding most of the time, and in other games, but with Destiny if I do the activities I like and don't get what I want, I either have to do bad activities or just deal with it for a real world week.
I'd just rather play a game that will actually let me play how I choose to.
I'll probably be back for Light Fall, but for the first time ever in Destiny's lifespan, I'm not sure if I'll even be bothered to purchase the expansion.

1 Replygood thing bungie announced they're doing away with the LL grind, and going to focus on the artifact, which avoids the randomness of hoping the one piece of armor you need to upgrade to hit max drops in a pinnacle activity
-
8 RepliesSo your crying because you have grind to do end game content sounds like to me you want stuff handed to u every mmo out there u have to reach max lvl to do end game content you can’t just jump to it destiny might not be for u or mmos
-
1 ReplyNot to mention that when you do get to endgame, you just find the same mission but stuffed full of champions, that force you to use a restricted range of weapons to counter them through mods…
-
The Problem is the "Artifact", the sweats in the game are already 1690+ who plays 6-8hr vs the average gamer who play about 4hr. I get it's for "End Game" player but to me it's just a "narcissistic" outlook.
-
1 ReplyI'm not interested in end game content that's just a bunch of champions and gear restrictions for a shard or something that I already have max of or a weapon I won't use. I'm to the point now of just playing whatever I feel like. Once I hit 100 on the pass I'm done and I go play something else until the next season.

3 RepliesSo you're dejected because you can't do the activities specifically intended for people that strive towards the most difficult or competitive of endgame content? Iron Banner, Trials, Grandmaster. Those are the only areas I can think of that require high light level to not be painful to play. So the remaining 90% of the game is unappealing to you?
-
4 RepliesI get my light from raids and some pínchale activities. I once skipped gambit for two seasons on pinnacle grind, and I was still able to do trials week one, grandmaster day one, and master raids day one. The light level grind is terrible without raid pinnacles. There are pinnacles and raid pinnacles, put your time into raid pinnacles.

3 RepliesTime to find new friends then huh?

Pretty much exactly how I feel about power level and the way Bungie arranges it for you to unlock a difficulty level or get access to not being clapped easier than normal. Power level doesn’t matter and it’s confusing for people who don’t understand that it doesn’t matter and they throw away god rolls cause it’s not higher like every other game that has stat sticks. People would care more about perks on their loot if it didn’t need to have a useless number on it.
-
3 RepliesTrials and GMs are pretty much the only things when light levels matter and as far as adept weapons go the normal versions are just as good if you dont want to midmax

Edited by Dark Knighten89: 9/9/2022 1:46:08 AMI don't think I have ever hit MAX rank in any season and I have never had an issue with any activity difficultly wise.
-
3 RepliesThe game needs to get rid of light at this point. Let players level up through the artifacts and call it a day.
-
I don't fully agree...But I empathize. I think the grind killed it for my friends...I used to play multiple days a week...Even all day some days...Now no one in my clan plays except me. And occasionally once or twice a season, one of them hops on for a few minutes maybe.

When I told a friend less involved in the game that the highest tier of nightfall is playtime gated, he genuinely laughed. He thought I was telling a joke.
This is like someone saying they should be able to do end-game raids in World of Warcraft wearing blues.

5 RepliesLight level is why my 13 year old son quit playing 3 years ago. He grinded his warlock to 750 The season ended days later He actually likes Gambit! he had 27 guardian kills in one game I informed him that he needed to reach light level 1050 now He said “no way!” He never played again

9 RepliesYep. Bungie obviously has rng levelling to artificially drive play time up, but I bet if they turned it off for a season they would see playtime go up even more. I would play the crap out of master/grand master/trials if I didn’t have to spend 6 weeks grinding to power cap. I honestly can’t be bothered. Such a waste of time. Not an option for people who live in the real world
I know, I know…you work 167 hours per week, spend 4 hours a the gym every day, have 3 wives, 17 kids and still hit cap in two weeks 🙄
I agree to a certain extent. There should be some arbitrary number that gives player an idea of where the other player is at in their d2 experience but power level has definitely overstayed its welcome. Other than my power level, my guns, my armor, my builds basically everything but my power level is ready for master/end game content. So why are gms still locked until October? Why wasn’t master mode released day 1 for kings fall? Removing power level would simply put everyone (in pve) essentially on the same playing field.

Inbound the “you just want everything handed to you crowd”. Boomer moment

Imo if you reach seasonpass lvl 100(110 if you bought the 10lvls) you should be able to do all the end game master content while being on power. The fact you need season lvl 230+ to be on par with master lvl content is dumb and takes too far long to have it just reset every season. Imo lvl 100 at a point that if you do all your challanges you should be above 100 or close to 100 by the time gm's come out. Pinnicle grind needs bad luck protection. Or a rotating pinnicle pool on some activities that tell you "if you do strikes today, the pinnicle will be a headpiece"
-
If it meant something it'd be fine but it doesnt.
-
I really haven’t cared about my light lvl in yrs. Soon as you get over the need to have everything in the game, things like raids and trials don’t really matter too much.
-
Edited by BulbaSmasher: 9/8/2022 12:17:25 AMIt kind of seem like you are overthinking it.. outside of like 2 things your level doesn't matter lol

I haven't given a #### about pinnacles or light level for like a year? Wtf
-
1 ReplyLet’s be honest if leveling ten light is too difficult than maybe destiny isint the game for you. Destiny is a really easy game that’s mostly mindless grinding and the few and far between difficulty spiked activity that’s actually fun. If the leveling part is what has you stumped maybe Minecraft is a better option. If nothing else light level is a perfect filter for players basic competence and to a lesser extent commitment to the game. Giving up on meeting the bare minimum speaks volumes and it’s refreshing to see someone accepting the reality of their inability to handle a fairly simple game. Keep it up!

They literally just had an event where you catch up to max light level from last season…..

Edited by TheShadow: 9/7/2022 11:04:57 PMI use to play a lot back when Activision was around, when they left my time was cut way back to playing once in a while. Still to this day, Bungie hasn't really done anything to improve the experience of playing the game and it's been what, over 2 years now? I miss the original Bungie, at least they were actually trying to improve things, unlike the Bungie today.
