So my Destiny 1 players, remember when you first played Kings Fall and got the ToM quest, how fun and rewarding it was for doing the very simple yet standard quest line to earn said weapon?
Yeah well Bungie just gave you the metaphorical middle finger by tying another raid exotic to RNG, the same RNG that gives some people Vex Mythoclast on their first completion, but other have completed VoG over 100+ times and they still DONT have it.
GG Bungie thank you for repeating your same mistakes in an effort to “innovate” in the distant future with a way to somehow put a bandaid on the rng issue.

okay so i got it first time, and i still dont have collective obligation after like 50 runs. however, tom is not nearly as necessary for raiding as it was in d1
-
Honestly, it was a little cumbersome tbh for me back in D1. I don't mind final boss exotic raid drops...I don't like waiting forever to get the weapon though. I'd rather get lucky and have it drop than collect a billion shards or get 1M kills...That's just me.
-
1 ReplyYet all streamers were lucky to drop day 1 not that RNG. lol
-
3 RepliesL opinion. The quest was bs, and felt more like busy work just to make sure people knew how to actually do the raid after their second completion. They couldn't even integrate the same quest from d1 to d2. Dreadnaught isn't explorable anymore. RNG makes getting touch of malice more fun, because it gives you more incentive to run this raid more than twice like the d1 quest.
-
6 RepliesWell 90% of the quest wouldn't even be doable as there's no Dreadnought zone. You had to collect calcified fragments (45), grind Court of Oryx and then complete the raid. I'm sure I missed a step or 2..
-
13 RepliesNah, what’s a “spit in the face” is recycling the same boring trash from D1, month after month. Per usual, Bungie hamster wheel of selling you back the same garbage you already paid for in D1. Yet, everyone keeps gagging on Bungie D every month, to obtain the same trash you already earned in D1.

3 RepliesEdited by Hendo: 8/31/2022 3:55:06 AMGood thing I got it day 1 and finished my Catalyst Edit- I just got my second one get rekt
-
3 Repliesa spit in the face really? wow this is a loot and shooter that has been built around rng if u don’t like grinding maybe this game isn’t for u. to say it’s a spit in the face make u sound like a drama queen
-
1 ReplyIt's all about anytime for bungie They need to force people to do -blam!- in this boring -blam!- game
-
2 RepliesEh, I'm kinda glad I don't gotta run around and find 45 more fragments. But that's just me
-
Edited by Scratch: 8/30/2022 7:06:30 AMOoooooh Touch. Of. Malice. Here I am thinking all this time, why would Bungie name a gun "Touch 'em, Alice"? OK that makes sense now Duh 🤦♂️
-
13 RepliesI don't disagree, but Touch of Malice was only viable in D1 vs Oryx.. it had no use outside of that.. I don't see it being any different now. And since you'll already have beaten Oryx to actually get ToM, you don't really need it.. so.. don't worry about it too much
-
I hate random drops, especially since it took me 60 lootable for the vex and 45 for CO. Tired of doing the raid 10 times more then my friends to get the same weapon. If I’m willing to do it 60 times, don’t ya think I will also have the desire to do other things? 30 raids is way more then plenty to get a raid weapon.
-
The bullshit quest for ToM was neither fun nor rewarding. It was a relief to finish.
-
1 ReplyEhh the quest was boring and the gun is mid. Was only good for the raid with titan bubble till they nerfed that strat. And it’s pretty much the same gun it was in d1 it’s mid.
-
Why tf is anyone still surprised? It's Bungie at the end of the day. All that counts for them is $. They never gave a flying f about player enjoyment or respecting players time. Players who don't get the drop will keep running the hamster wheel, leading to more free playtime out of their loyal playerbase which results in satisfied investors and more mtx sales. Greed one o one.
-
9 RepliesIf this is a spit in the face from Bungie. Same can be said for check point farming. Can't wait for posts. I cleared Oryx 97 times and no ToM! (Only 3 full looted clears)
-
7 RepliesRaid exotics being random drops is so attrociously bad and is an absolute embarrasment for Bungie. The problem is, they've already admitted it was a problem multiple times. In D1 they started tying it to quests. In D2, they tried drop protection in DSC. Now they have reverted back to it being purely random?? Absolute -blam!- bullshit. Took me an entire season of running VoG 3x/week to get Vex. I never got whatever the stupid exotic was from Vow, and I have long since stopped trying. Just won't ever have that exotic I guess. Bungie 100% needs to have drop protection or quest based exotics from the raids. Pure RNG is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
-
ITs time bungie swing the loot pendulum the other way for a while. the rewards need to be sought after and worked towards not gifted to every player. Its sure nice to have it that way but, lets put some effort into obtaining premium rewards.
-
Waiting for weeks and even months to get all the fragments wasnt different than taking weeks to get a lucly drop tbh.
-
“Spit to the face” might be a little much.
-
1 ReplyHere’s the thing, they can’t Implement the quest because we are only able to have access to such a little part of the dreadnaught, so the calcified fragments we need for that quest is not obtainable. And no they can not change the quest, the quest goes with the lore
-
18 RepliesI want someone to explain to me why so many people are against exotic quests. What is the reasoning behind the... Malice... What is the logic? I see guaranteed exotic quests as a net win, with the gun not being tied behind pure RNG more people will be able to have access to the weapon. Another thing I keep coming back to, these people complaining are raiders. They will raid now, still be raiding in the future for content drops, they will have the same amount of opportunity to complete the quests and acquire the loot. Where is the downside in exotic quests, logically speaking? (Compared to RNG)

remember when you first played Kings Fall and got the ToM quest, how fun and rewarding it was for doing the very simple yet standard quest line to earn said weapon?
Nope. I remember doing a bunch of dumb, grindy bullshit.
-
2 RepliesIf you acquired it in D1 it should automatically be added to your collection.

Raid is free. So this time, you need to run the hamster wheel. It’s a numbers game for them. Classic strategy to keep you guys as a statistic and pad their player numbers so they could say their game has high numbers. Lol, fake! It’s fake numbers cuz you don’t really wanna be there. But you have to cuz your grinding their hamster wheel.
