Game crashes before character select
When I start Destiny up it keeps crashing at a very specific time: during the checking updates screen right before character selection during the second swirling animation of the icon in the bottom right. This happens very frequently and I'll have to try restarting my game a few dozen times before I can actually play. I have tried the following fixes so far but it keeps happening:
1. Restarting Destiny/Steam/my computer
2. Uninstalling/reinstalling Destiny
3. Checking for Steam updates
4. Verifying the local files
5. Deleting app data
6. Uninstalling/reinstalling drivers (this seemed to work for an evening but then it came back)
7. Changing my antivirus protections for the game
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

3 RepliesEdited by JoostAScroob: 7/5/2022 1:12:42 AMAre you using a nVidia GPU? If you have not already done so, roll back drivers to 512.95. It is being widely reported that later drivers are having severe issues with Destiny 2. If you have already done this, try disabling the shader cache in the nVidia control panel - this worked for me as I was still have hangs/crashes on startup even though I was on the 512.95 drivers.

Same issue, trying to play Destiny 2 on my laptop. I tried 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 (updating) of the troubleshooting above and still seem to run into the issue. Wondering if it's related to the anticheat software that needs to be running. Are there any troubleshooting steps for that to make sure it's working?
