It's time to allow the use of any weapon type to deal with champions. Stop controlling the game play!

You need to allow people the ability to choose how to play. Quit locking the game play behind mods. Forcing people to run nightfalls with a scout bow pulse or HC to deal with unstoppable and barriers is crazy. There needs to be more option.

  • How about, all seasonal mods previously unlocked are permanently available. That would heavily diversify people's load outs, playstyles, comfort, and strategy. It wouldn't "break" the game, because the concept would be the same. So what if we have Breach and Clear with Particle Deconstruction, or multiple weapon types to deal with champions? Let players play the way they want.

  • Idea: Bungie wants time sink, so that people are busy ingame. That's okay as long as it doesn't drive people crazy and the result corresponds to the time you spent. My suggestion - the user can transform *any* weapon and gets from level X another mod slot to equip the desired weapon with the appropriate weapon MOD. If the user needs a mod for champions, he can insert it, if a user wants to insert another weapon relevant mod (e.g. droping more ammo), he can insert this. The user can level the desired weapon, equip it with the desired mod and no longer have to fill the armor slots with this stuff. Possible benefit: People are happier because crafting gets a meaning after all. The people who cried because of the OrbMods (helmet) can fill the slots more sensibly. The user can experiment much more with their weapons and armor. You can go through 1000 ways of doing what. In my experience, the solution must be as simple as possible to implement. And product management also wants to have their goals met, like "how can we keep people creatively engaged without having to constantly deliver new or renewed content?"

    • Honestly they could just make the champion based mods broader and it would be fine. For example just introduce Kinetic/energy based champion mods like "Unstoppable energy" or "Anti-barrier Kinetic" (etc.). That would blow the gates wide open for players wanting to use whatever they want.

        • Just make so people can put a mod that can change "element" like Hard light, i love that gun! Sooo good. Shredded Birthplace earlier this week! i know when i started to run a couple of raids people commented that dual kinetic was a no no! And here several years later, Bungie forces people to run the big NO NO 🤣

IMO the main reason they do this is because of the content they create, it's copy and paste work, and without controlling players what to use with their artifact players would burn through their content leaving themselves not much to do. That last part is Bungie's fault because they create a lot of cheap throwaway content, and not much content that is engaging let alone replayable. So their solution is to add a -blam!- load of padded playtime, spam champions, and the artifact to control what players use. Then there is Bungie's "RNG" that puts out an absurd amount of duplicates.

              • For the life of me idk why they don't tie champions to ammo type 3 champs 3 ammo types.... White - barrier Green - overload Purple - unstoppable - give all purple ammo the Leviathan change delayed damage after stun ... Damn you Bungie, free up my arm mod slots wth....

              • You know the mods like Backup Mag, Full Auto, Counter Balance Stock. Like the actual mods on the guns themselves. You should be able to slap it on any weapon from there.

                The restrictions on end game loadouts makes buildcrafting completely obsolete. You're not building anything you enjoy. You're building something that just makes you drag through the mud. It would be much better to slow down with exotics and start a long and needed path of reevaluating all of them. Throwing the other 99 percent of items in the game in the "obsolete pool" isn't going to keep players wanting new stuff. Seeing new exotics is always fun, but knowing the other 99 percent became obsolete makes them not desirable to rely on. False hopes. After all the light 3.0 changes, we need a massive overhaul to all exotics. That would be the optimal time to reevaluate everything and touch up the old exotics etc.

              • This is what Bungie does, they control the meta to keep it fresh in their words, I've always hated it all the way back when prestige raids were controlled by the weapons and modifiers they chose for us to use weekly, or when they nerf a weapon based on statistics because it's the most used. It's not going to change anytime soon.

                • The problem with Champions isn't artifact weapon mods shoehorning specific load-outs into gameplay. The problem with Champions is Champions. Their cheesy tactics need to be fixed.

                  • Real talk the limitations on weapon types need to go. Make the mod something you put into armor like orb generation mods. Obvious fix is obvious. Honestly, if champs are going to stay then Unstoppable needs to be looked at as “what good looks like” your champ mod makes killing it easier, but it’s not required. Barrier needs some sort of adjustment to not be a full heal / reset if you don’t pop it’s shield in time…and overload, Well overload needs to -blam!- go. Easy solutions to easy problems. Why is Bungo limp -blam!- when it comes to implementation of these solutions?

                    • This is the same reason I dislike the really op artifact mods that require a specific weapon. Bungie weapon balancing isn’t just artificially changing the meta of the season to whatever flavor you feel like😂

                    • I wish they would address the champion issues, but I have a feeling that we won't see any champion or mod changes until they are done revamping the classes. Bungie rarely does multiple big changes at the same time and overhauling the champion system would be a big change since it's built into the current nightfall system.

                      • It’s true. I’m so bored of it now. Just running the same guns and same strikes over and over and over. Especially when I’m trying to level up my weapons-but I’m forced to use other weapons when playing a thing with champions. It needs a rework. Just keep it simple. And also all weapon mods. Constantly swapping mods when I swap a weapon is infuriating. Just have kinetic weapon reload-special weapon reload etc. There’s just too many mods.
