Instead of trying to nerf select perks or weapons leave them strong.
The better route is to adjust how much Special Ammo is available.
Something like 2 rounds on 1st spawn, 1 round drops on Primary Kill. No Scavengers. Maybe an ammo box spawns a couple times a match (in 6s).
That way it encourages people to use primaries more, and also doesn't allow people to main Special.
Of course nobody wants a Year 1 situation, but a balance could be achieved IF an attempt was made.

7 RepliesDisable scavenger mods in pvp. Make it like Destiny 1 Y3 where you spawn with 0 special ammo and have to find a special ammo crate for ammo.

Edited by Evilman520: 4/2/2022 2:19:58 AMSimple solution: -make it so Savenger mods don't work in PvP -downed players drop NONE of their special Ammo on kill -make Ammo Finder mods work in PvP. Look at what they say: primary weapons further increase drop chance. So if you want to get special Ammo after your initial spawn, you'll have to use your primary a bit. Thoughts?

10 RepliesNo. Y3 D1 was arguably worse than Y1 D2. We do not want to go back to that.
-
2 RepliesAlso rounds 1 and 3 and 5 should be the only rounds of a match that gives u 2 shots right off the bat that way the advantage or tie up matches are mostly primary fights. And after the 5th round it's still 1 round matches Ammo boxes should spawn during 2 and 4 but only if the match stretches passed 3 mins. After 5th round no more Ammo box spawns.
-
2 RepliesI agree with making scavs not work and making special only drop from primary ammo but for the love of God never suggest ammo boxes again, just try and remember how extremely awful it felt towards the end of D1 when that was the only source of ammo
-
5 RepliesAh yes, ammo crates. Because that was something that everybody liked in D1.
-
1 ReplyTerrible idea, what would happen if the enemy camps where the green spawns?

43 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 3/31/2022 12:23:53 AMNeither specials nor the ammo are the problem. The problem is that the primary weapon TTK is too long. There is no way to balance the game around that long TTK, given how fast players move....and trying to limit the ammo is nothing but a PUNT. An admission that they can't balance the sandbox properly. No matter what Bungie does to the "ammo economy", better players will wind up with more ammo...and special weapons will remain a nasty snowball mechanic.

1 ReplyEveryone didn’t care when it was a shotgun sniper meta for years and years. I for one having maybe 30k pvp fusion kills like it. Leave it alone. There are still sniper players and shotgun players that it’s finally as balanced as it’s ever been. Wish they could buff gls a little to have 4 things at or around 25% usage but shotguns will probably always outnumber everyone regardless of the balance. I like the way it is.

11 RepliesBungie should make a playlist, where only granades & kinetic weapons are allowed, no special abilities, like dodge, barriers, rifts, or supers are allowed. Just good ole' wild west firefights. Kinetic primary sniper rifles/granade launchers are allowed too, with bigger ammo reserves, but are weaker & are more challenging to utilise. Call it, "Team Deathmatch: Classic" or "Control: Classic". Basically, it's CoD team deathmatch, but without the "space magic".

1 ReplyOr just accept Destiny can't be balanced without giving up what the game is
-
Disable green scav perks for pvp. You already do this with heavy. Green bricks only drop from primary kills. Much better.
-
3 RepliesThe only thing that needs to be done is Fusion Rifles need to stop mapping people. They don't need to do anything about special ammo. If you are good enough with YOUR primary you will always kill people before they can close the gap. I never get shotgunned. I don't let someone run straight towards me without killing them. If I do get shotgunned they were lucky in their way of coming around the corner, but even then 9 times out of 10 the radar gave them away and I already made space to spray and pray. Fusion rifles have a bit too much range and it is cause we are playing on Year 1 maps, designed for 4 vs 4, but now it is 6 vs 6 so you have 12 people cramped on a 8 person map. The battles can tend to be too close for fusion rifles that have that much range, but shotguns need to get close which is sorry to say, your responsibility not Bungie's.

3 RepliesYup, my words for the last 3,5 years now. Been praying to just adjust the ammo economy. Instead they completely neutered shotguns, left the dumb sniper flinch to the head when shot in and left fusions completely broken, just like linears like lorentz and other exos such as bastion, lord of wolves, chappy and the toaster. All of those run rampant and the most popular and for most players most fun and enjoyable weapon, shotguns, have been nerfed into oblivion with the slide nerf, pellet spread, range cap etc. etc. I remember when literally everyone asked for shotguns to be MORE consistent. Now they are crap. All this could have been fixed by simply doing what you suggested. Spawn with 2 ammo, zero ammo from special weapon kills, 1 ammo from primary weapon kills. done. But no, lets just nerf shotties into the ground and make everyone map people with fusions. Bungie must have talented pvp players working for them.

3 RepliesNo, just no. That's what they did in Destiny 1 and it nearly killed the game. Then they tried the double primary system again at Destiny 2 launch and guess what? It nearly killed the game again. The answer is NOT to limit or remove special ammo from the game. Quite the contrary, they need to embrace it and instead of pissing everyone off with nerfs, just do what they said they were gonna do and bring other under performing weapons UP. People like the power fantasy and space magic. I mean that's why we all play this game right? If I wanted boring -blam!- meat and potatoes shooting I'd go play Halo or Overwatch where everything is -blam!- into feeling all more or less like the same limp noodle. I'm sure I speak for the VAST majority of players when I say that no one wants to go back the holding hands meta in year 1 when all anyone did was plant themselves somewhere and teamshoot everything. That was boring as hell and didn't leave any room for "hero moments" or epic plays. Though the real root of the problem is that some people just need to accept they aren't as good at this game as they think they are and sometimes you just gotta take your medicine. There is always a bigger fish in the pond and sometimes you just get outplayed. Or they just refuse to adapt to what their opponents are doing and either A) get pissed off they got killed by the "no skill camper sitting in the back with a sniper" or B) get pissed off that they got killed by the "no skill shotgun ape" that rushed them down and killed them or C) get pissed off by the "no skill dad rifle user playing range"........ Do you see a pattern here? The problem isn't what other players are doing. The problem is what you are NOT doing to counter them.
-
Totally agree, to much special everywhere, then the answer is to remove the ammo significantly. We don't need 47 kills with a shotgun simple as that.
-
What's wrong? Don't like turning a corner after spawning in momentum and immediately being killed by Dead Messenger?
-
1 ReplyIt’s just PvP being trash is all. Should have never been in the game from the beginning of D1.
-
Just have it be like D1. No one spawns with ammo and you only get it from special crates. Easy as that it worked perfectly fine there I don’t see why it can’t be brought over here.
-
3 RepliesSpecials IMO are fine, yes fusions are insane but one simple balance change is as some ppl have said, just make it so special ammo only drops on primary kill that's it, one super simple change and boom the gameplay will change to the better 👍😁 Bungie pls, i Love this gunplay and the PvP is so close to being amazing. We just need it so you can't run around with a special all match 😌
-
Agreed all around.
-
1 ReplyHow the hell am I supposed to spam my fusion rifle while I’m invisible if I can’t get ammo? Don’t kick my crutch out from under me.
-
Hmmm, didn't D1 have special ammo crates in pvp? Awwww, the good old destiny days! ::Shrugs::
-
8 RepliesThe only people that wouldn’t like going back to ammo crates are the people that main -blam!- like shotguns, main ingredient, and jotunn. You should NOT be able to run an entire match of crucible only using a special weapon exclusively. They are called “primary” and “special” for a reason. A special should not have the ability to be used as a primary period. Why do you think people are always crying saying nerf those guns? Are they too powerful? No, the ammo is too accessible
