Shaped weapons should be configurable with two rows of selectable perk options in each column

The only thing better than getting a so-called "god-roll" weapon is getting a weapon that has a god-roll option but also has other potentially useful perks in one or more columns that might be better in certain situations (add clear vs boss dps for example), that's one of the biggest reasons for peoples bloated vaults; all the duplicate weapons that need to be kept for the different situationally good rolls they possess. Being able to craft a shaped weapon and (eventually) configure it with your ideal set of perks is nice, but it strips away that flexibility of hot-swappable perks you can switch to on the fly, and while you can reshape to change perks the fact they don't stay unlocked once you paid for them once means having to waste resources every time you want to swap back and forth, which is especially punishing for enhanced perks. What I would like to suggest is that once you reach level 20 on a shaped weapon you should be able to pay an ascendant alloy to upgrade it to have a second row of configurable perks looking something like this: https://i.imgur.com/inG1NA2.png that can then be hot-swapped in the weapon menu just like the ones on regular weapons, while still having you pay if you want to completely swap out any of those perks for something else by reshaping it again, at least that way you wouldn't need to keep multiple versions of the same shaped weapon just so save on reshaping costs if you swap back and forth a lot. Also it would just be nice to have a way to put the masterwork border on shaped weapons even if it is just cosmetic as it makes your best gear easier to find when looking through your vault/DIM.

  • Weapon crafting just won. I'm not doing it since master raid weapons (adept) Are just not going to worth it, they Can't even roll with enhanced perks and they also got a fixed 2 perks That is just solely dependent on luck to be Bad or accepteable. Once a stasis linear comes out with triple tap and firing line, i'm deleting my adept reed's regret. Also i Just vaulted 3 adept hothead God rolls because palmyra-b is better.

  • Or just lower the material cost, no, how stupid of me, who think Bungie would even consider such a thing? Nope, Increase it so just the 1% will ever succeed. Your 1% of Destiny awaits!

  • I mean this is so close to how it was in D1 wasn't it? I remember levelling weapons and being able to select perks on some weapons and I thought crafting would be an extension of that, because it worked. Instead, in typical fasion, Bungie have over thought the entire process and come up with something that's actually pretty piss poor when you consider longevity. I mean that fact alone that you have to RE-BUY perks you already bought if you want to swap them is just a facepalm. Add in the red frame system that seems okay at first until you realise they bottleneck the system and leave players with vaults full of red frames (when vault space was already an issue) and that the rididulously low caps on materials only make this way, way worse and it's just a really porrly thought out system. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much because I'm used to Bungie implementing new features in convoluted and nonsensical ways (Transmog, armor 2.0 and so on), but I think they really outdid themselves here.

  • Even have it as a give/take where you can give up enhanced perks for a double perk choice so then there's more variety to choices and thinking before crafting.

  • Not only these changes would be great but also, they could take this chance to get rid of gear score farming for random drops by making it so our crafted weapons level is their item level. We could literally grind them up to the power cap for the season and it would be how we increase our power on our weapons. Just by using them. They could do something similar to how deepsight resonance is completed for armor levels as well by just having them tied to activity completions. I want so badly to just be able to level my character by playing the game and not being told to go play specific activities for a chance of getting the score increase I need. Just my two cents. I already know we gain power from our artifact and that's fantastic as a buffer to bad luck drops, but if like to see a full rework to leveling nonetheless.

  • Can't add more than a set number of perks on guns cus it'll break the gun and it won't work. Proceeds to add a shotgun with double perks and all 3 core Playlist origin traits, or you know THE ACE with 14 different hidden perks at one time lol I'd like double perked craftable guns though, it'd probably cost a ridiculous amount of arbitrary crafting materials to "balance" it though

  • Honestly this is a gd idea to do for vault space problem as well it make it so you only have to craft 1 weapon for your pve and pvp Bungie tried to solve the problem but unintentionally made it worst I rather spend hrs leveling and resources to make 1 weapon with 2 godroll slots for pvp and pve then constantly switching rolls on it and wasting resources for pvp and pve or having to make 2 weapons for each weapon Like wat Aztecross thought weapons 3.0 was gonna be like

  • Crafting is always going to be kneecapped by Bungie's need to keep people on some kind of a hamster wheel.

ALL perks (for crafted weapons) should be available to unlock/purchase (Perk tree as seen on sites like D2Gunsmith) This allows a player to build the weapon exactly how they like it, switch perks when necessary Masterworking it (also swappable) at the end allows it to create Orbs of Power & allows it to level up to Adept/Timelost standards And the Collections tab becomes a vault Because you only ever need 1 version of that weapon Returning it to the vault saves progress & allows retrieval to finalise the progress Crafting weapons of certain classes (Scout Rifles for example) progresses towards Gunsmith & Armourer seals ALL weapons could eventually be crafted (inc sunset gear, freshly reprised) This can work so very easily & clear up huge issues with vault space & Bungie’s memory cache issues

  • All purchased perks should get added to the crafted weapons perk column. Having to repurchase perks when swapping is stupid and has to be the most disgusting way bungie has artificially extended the grind.

Sorry but nope, while I hate crafting in its current form, adding a 2nd perk colum might as well render any activity that offers 2 perk column weapons useless. All they need to do is fix the material caps and figure out what to do with enhanced perk costs after you purchase one. we dont need 2 perk columns when thats the entire point of seasonal focusing.

      • This… Is actually a good idea. Had considered a long term situation where I would craft multiples of the same weapon for a situation (PVE, PvP, endgame, running around having fun, etc.) but I like this better. I’d have no issue grinding another ascendant alloy to have two or so regular/enhanced traits to switch from. Plus, I feel it would both be a motivating factor to grind that weapon to its max potential as well as really show that you invested time and resources into said weapon to give it situational versatility. 🤔 Also, like many others, I was disappointed to learn that a red bar weapon dropping did not necessarily mean it’s pattern could be extracted and then was able to be crafted. I’m hoping that the pool of available weapons expands dramatically soon. 🙂

      • Bloated vaults is because they dont read well and the only currency cap to raise is neutral otherwise i don't see a problem with the rest you can make as many copies of weapons as you want screw other selectable perks its turned from shooter looter to burger king have it your way with most of this community of cry babies

      • Haven't read the whole thing but totally agree, especially with the first bit - love getting good rolls with a perk choice. Crafted weapons don't really have much that sets them apart at the moment. Improved stats are only slightly better and so far most of my best guns have been random drops.

        • FULLY AGREE! The reward is barely if at all worth the grind. I have ZERO desire for any of the available weapons. Especially since you can’t unlock the perks permanently. F that mess

And we shouldn't be charged an alloy for reshaping a weapon, that's absurd. And the crafting materials caps should be greatly increased or just removed.

              • I'm pretty much blow away this isn't the standard. Not only should it have 2 rows, it should have as many rows as the player wants. If you for some reason want to unlock every single enhanced perk on a certain gun, you should simply be able to do that. It's great for saving vault space and I hope this will simply become the standard.

                • Agreed. Most of the time the “god roll” for a weapon that I want to use in different activities has just one or two different perks. Plus I hate grinding out multiple weapons for the benefit of just 1 perk.

                • far simpler solution to the problem 1. remove caps on materials 2. once you pay for the perk it is unlocked 3. craft away You will never need to swap on the fly in the same activity so if you are running a raid with the weaon you won't need to be switching perks.. but, if you go from raid to pvp then you might. so go back to the table and reshape the weapon. We don't need new systems and patch work. just a system that unlocks as you pay for it and can be readjusted based on the amount of time and effort you put in to that gun. I fyou pay for all the perks you should have access to them.. Like cable tv.. you have all the channels, even if you never watch them all.. you paid for them to use when you want to.

                  • A god roll option and fun roll. Mix and match and do what you want. I'd hope eventually this happens. We pay for the rolls, let us interchange them.

                    • Vaults are bloated due to material caps honestly. You could I suppose also add the un necessary amounts of "build theory crafting" armour in there as well......although the builds serve no purpose for the bulk of the content. But they can be fun. All that said a vault space increase wouldn't hurt. But again there's more pressing concerns than people who can't organize themselves.
