Scorn Snipers, too much damage?

My clan and I have been noticing that scorn sniper units have been inflicting inconsistent damage to players. Ranging from actually nothing to, most often the case, one-shotting guardians through overshields. This occurs even when our light values far exceed the activity.

    • Maybe when it's low damage, it's a body shot and high damage when it's a headshot....

        I agree ! They seem to have ate a Bowl of Wheaties or something… they one shot me constantly now 😁

      • I've noticed this to an extent. A red bar scorn sniper will pop me and it literally decimates my shield every time, and then the next thing that barely taps me will kill me. I have noticed it most often in the opening raid segment (with the moving boat) where I'll commit to a play and then right when I jump in, some sniper in the back of the map hits my shoe and I'm basically at 1HP going in. It's super annoying and I've learned to just stay near the dumb boat and use it for cover.

      • It seems like Scorn crossbows, Ogre Eye Blast, Taken Envoy/Wizard jazzhands and Taken Knight fire spray always just straight insta kill me no matter what difficulty, build or level I am. Like my health doesn't even adjust properly. I'll have full health, it gets ticked once and then I'll just insta die. It feels like the game is trying to register what I'm getting hit by and instead of applying the damage I'm actually taking, it'll just register it as "you got hit like a billion times" and just insta kill me. And come to think of it, ever since that last hotfix we got, I've been getting 1 hit by the exploding light moths too when previous they hardly did any damage to me. 🤷

        • And lucent moths too. They need to be toned down for real. You shouldn't be getting one shot in a night fall wearing thermoclastic armor mod and an additional arc mod. Love the balance and play testing; last year was extended and WQ is broken in many areas.

        • Even with 2x void resist (40% resist) and 70+ resilience , I seem to still get melted.

        • Yep... this is the same issue with Cabal Slug launcher Centurios... One shotting you or not... they fixed it... now you have Scorn Snipers doing one shot with 3 projectile hits at once and doing the same as the Slug launcher Cabal in the Past... random damage that sometimes tickles your Jimmys and sometimes Deletes you like you get hit by a Thundercrashing Titan

        • i also noticed that they can see, aim and fire at you from a way way farther distance than previously (before WQ), they used to be slightly annoying but now... they fire more often and from farther, to the point that they're outright just harassing no matter the distance bungie needs to take a look at this (sniper enemies in general) and tone them down a bit, specially their damage too because i refuse to believe that their weapon in so fatally lethal compared to any other weapon the scorn have, even scorn big dudes don't kill as fast

It's like, how do they know you're about to jump? My bad. Kill first, then jump. Or fake your jump. Not to mention jumping in your face or blocking the boss when you shoot a rocket! It's crazy in there now!

              • Doing Preservation Solo is annoying as all hell right now because of the one shot antics these things have.

              • Agreed. There will be basic matchmade activities where I suddenly lose 45% of my health to a single snipe from a red bar while I'm over leveled, and yet in the raid scorn don't do -blam!- for damage. It's really inconsistent and it throws me off sometimes.

              • As a hunter I tend to shoot first. If you're getting hit, then you deserve that damage.

              • As someone who has played Halo 2 and 3 on Legendary, consider yourself lucky you can at least survive a sniper shot from an enemy without dying

                  • They've been been consistent for me. Strafing helps avoid snipers hitting (or headshotting) you. Raiders have that tri-bolt that hits harder than say a vandal

                      I thought it was just me. I mean, who would've thought that as guardians who have taken out GODS, that we wouldn't be able to endure a trash Raider who can do one shot damage that even raid boss' couldn't pull off
