Open world games with those "collect 50-100 of these items scattered across our gigantic map with no clues to help you find them all!" Collect quests, now yes most of them (if not, all) are side quests/optional but still, I don't know who would do that unless you're trying to 100% the game

The entire fallen order combat system, JK. I’m getting really tired of button mashing

1 ReplyEdited by Centaur-1: 3/11/2022 12:46:39 AM— Having to use some kind of consumable every 3 minutes if you don’t want to die. It’s a horrible mechanic meant to add difficulty.
Spicy peppers in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and hot drinks/cool drinks in Monster Hunter: World.
— Any “higher difficulty” that adds basically nothing new to the game besides an obnoxious damage increase.
Legendary campaign in Destiny 2.
— PvP. People suck.
Crucible in Destiny 2.
I’ll probably add more later… — Got another one: annoying dialogue that repeats over and over and over again. It enrages me so much that I just want that character erased from existence.
Spider-Man on PS4 reminding himself about the objectives every minute, Batman from Arkham Knight telling himself not to do anything and that he needs to stay in range of the remote control, and don’t even get me started on Screwball from Spider-Man, the Riddler from Arkham Knight, or the Handler from Monster Hunter:World.
2 RepliesTerrible shotgun range. Seriously, Titanfall 2 has the most realistic game range on a shotgun I have ever seen. Real shotguns aren't what these naive devs think.

3 RepliesArtificial difficulty such as: - Bullet sponges that require you to outlast the enemy rather than outsmart them. - Making enemies extremely aggressive and uninterruptable, requiring you to AVOID fighting until a tiny window presents itself, which point you're likely low on stamina due to dodging or magic due to putting up barriers and healing and can only pick off some damage before the onslaught begins anew. - Having an opponent button-read to give off the illusion of godly AI. - Enemy phases where you can't attack them but they can still attack you. One of my favorite Oblivion mods made it so that enemies didn't grow tougher as you leveled, they just showed up with better gear/magic and in greater numbers as you became a greater threat. Early on it was pretty much normal but by the end it was more like Vermintide.

In game cash shops. I get why they exist and I would be lying if I said I ignored them all together. They still make me audibly groan every time I see them.

After getting an objective when a nearby character or someone over the radio tells you to go to the objective or that you're taking too long when it's only been ten seconds.

1 ReplyCollect 100% of [X] to get the real ending. Multiplayer modes in single player focused games. "Difficulty adjustment" by simply adding/subtracting enemy health, or by just nerfing the player. Morality mechanics. Writing that tries to be both serious and comedic and the result is neither. "Characterization" by ear dumping annoying, horribly written dialog, usually through a radio. Bonus points if it's more than 50% sarcasm. Action heavy games that rip control away every twenty paces to play a cutscene. Resident Evil 6 is probably the worst I've seen for this. It's unbearable.

Just all of monsoon from mgrr because I suck at parrying and am greedy. Also stamina bars in any game.

The A button being the run button in Gears of War. You can't steer your character when you aren't using the right thumb-stick. Idiotic. Games where you run out of air every couple of minutes and have to run somewhere or gather something. No Man's Land for instance. No zoom when aiming at tiny little enemies. Dues Ex on Xbox One. Loved it on Mac. Bad and overly-complicated movement mechanics. Mirror's Edge. Could have been so good. No save anywhere or at a reasonable interval. Never ending bad guys spawning. Give me a limited number. It can be 200, but I want to have a definite end so I can relax.
