Olay so let me preface this with Witch queen is the most phenomenal expansion Destiny has ever had. From story, to void 3.0, to post game, this campaign has given me every thing I wanted and more. It truly is incredible. I'm sure the people at bungie put everything they had into this and I am not one for giving unnecessary praise. Bungie did good here.
Except for one detail, why is the exotic glaive tied to a post game, frankly infuriatingly low, rotating drop.
For those who aren't aware, one of the investigation board quests is to effectively get the blue print and subsequently craft all the throne world weapons. Which wouldn't be all that bad, if it wasn't for the new six player activity, Wellspring.
Wellspring has 4 of the throne world weapons locked behind a daily rotation, these being the sniper rifle, auto riffle, heavy grenade launcher, and bow. Problem is that each of these weapons has an astronomically low chance to drop in the base version of the activity, well why not just do the master version you ask? Because it's 1580 power level, pinnacle cap is 1560. Meaning you'd need to be at pinnacle with a +11 artifact to not be slaughtered. I love me some endgame content but that is steep.
This is compounded by the fact you need a resonant version of the weapon to drop twice for the grenade and auto rifle and three times for the sniper and bow. These weapons already have low droprates and the resonant version is even rarer.
Bungie with how featured the exotic glaives were in the promotional material we shouldn't need to rely on this sheer level of absurd rng in an activity that takes minimum 6-7 minutes to run with a God-tier fireteam to get them.
This is excessive, this is unacceptable, I don't mind a grind and I frequently play rng based games where the rng is HEAVILY weighted against me. But with no real way to raise the odds, and no means of getting these weapons to drop outside the activity. Bungie this is a huge mistake. One I hope is ragged on enough to where you guys do something about it.
It is the literal only issue with this dlc as far as I am concerned. So please do something about it.

11 Replies-blam!- sake, this expansion is 3 days old. 3 days. None of us will have any difficulty running the master version in a couple of weeks when we're at pinnacle base and our artefact is leveled up to +11. Not everything needs completing in the 1st 3 days. Some stuff needs to be held back or everyone moans there's nothing to do.

1 ReplyEdited by Sohsuh: 2/25/2022 8:09:03 PMThey always find a way to ruin things with unnecessarily long, horrible grinds that aren't fun in any way whatsoever. They just can't help themselves. Just like the Dares of Eternity and having to run it 100 times for a catalyst. It's garbage and it's not enjoyable at all. So in order to get the exotic glaive, we have to grind the -blam!- out of this Wellspring activity and hope RNG blesses us. The thing that sucks about this, is right now I enjoy Wellspring, but after grinding it for RNG patterns I will hate it and I don't understand why they have to do things in a way that makes people hate the content. There's better ways to do grinds without having time gated bullshit with super rare drop chances.

Edited by R.Hammer: 2/26/2022 10:57:23 PMMy problem with all this is that about 50% of the runs result in 10-15 mins of your time spent to get ... 300-400 glimmer... No reds, no purples, no blues ... just glimmer. WTF Bungie. BTW I've been watching Cross farming Legenrady - 3 hours later just ONE red drop, and something - nothing at all. This is unacceptable.
-
1 Reply100% agree. Welllspring drop rate sucks, RNG for the red drop layered on RNG drops of the weapon.

19 RepliesEdited by Haters: 2/26/2022 9:04:38 AMGlaives are stupid. Been stupid since their first tease and will be stupid until the next expansion. Why would you ever use it ever? Junk. Also the whole crafting system is junk time waste nonsense.

I know Bungie doesn't want players to get these steps done too fast, but they should make the drop for the resonant weapon much higher for the first drop of the day. After that one drop, this RNG is ok to stop people from progressing too quickly. Im not upset about the rotation and waiting 4 days for the weapon cycle, but I an upset that I waste so much time in this activity. I'm not playing the rest of the game that way and it makes wellsprings repetitive. Make 1st drop a 50-50 shot
-
was enjoying the dlc until I hit this ridiculous rng quest progress wall. this alone is making me want to stop playing entirely as it is a total waste of time. I'll come back to wellspring when bungie respects the fact that not all of us can burn dozens of hours chasing one stupid item. then times 2 or 3 for each weapon. we have bills to pay, and most of us aren't getting paid to play destiny.

17 RepliesIf you actually read the rank 30 fynch perk once you acquire a throne weapon it can drop from fynch.
-
2 RepliesIt took me 40 wellsprings to get 2 red autos. The drop rates are so atrocious what’s even worse is I’m going to do it again for the Tarnation
-
Edited by Joulevette12: 2/27/2022 3:04:28 AMThis is ridiculously you give us a six man activitie with one chest and "ONE WEAPON DROP" are you serious even the season pass battlegrounds more rewarding then this not even master worth the effort it's crazy
-
Likely it's on purpose they will say the drop rate is lower than intended after the raid come out and wor on it then watch.
-
It is annoying that we have to get a drop first, then a lucky roll for a deepsight resonance and all that multiple times to unlock the blueprint. I’d rather a rarer but guaranteed drop of a blueprint once you get a drop.
-
The problem comes when Bungie gives Tubers early access to these items so they can show them off. And veryone else thinking "I need this today". You can't get it today. Be patient.
-
2 Repliescurrently 0-20 today for red drops :) working as intended righr bungo?
-
Yes, I got one in ten runs, Bungie can keep the Glaive.
-
5 RepliesEdited by kickmeh: 2/26/2022 1:20:08 AMRELAX! you dont need the exotic glaive almost instantly ffs this dlc only dropped 4 days ago.....as some suggested wait it out until you are strong enough for the master version probably a couple of weeks but we also have the raid coming out as well...sometimes u cant get things when u want them.
-
Simple reason. To keep us playing over and over. Keeps play time numbers high which impresses their corporate overlords
-
What a joke im done with wellspring activity. Fix the drops then ill come back
-
1 ReplyWe should be able to target Resonance weapons or Spend Glimmer and Shards to make a non Resonance version Resonant. Otherwise this crafting system is DOA.
-
1 ReplyThe ridiculous thing is that there is no legend version. We have a “uncommon” drop on normal then a “common” drop on master which is 1580. So we have to suffer through terrible drop rates until we hit at least 1560.

Edited by PalingenesisII: 2/26/2022 3:43:51 PMThis is unfortunate to say the least. Was excited to grind out those bounties to get the exotic glaive. Kind of hit a wall with this quest as well. Not to mention even shaping the weapons takes a good deal of grinding for the materials Maybe this is an unpopular solution, but I personally think my approach will be taking my time with things, and putting this type of thing on the back burner. Just play the content as much as it feels good to play. Trusting that bungie will see this kind of constructive criticism and change things around sooner rather than later. Still a bummer to hit a wall like this but I find this approach to be much less frustrating. Plus, rationing myself on the post campaign content keeps things exciting and fresh for longer. Not sure if that appeals to you at all, but I hope you’re still able to enjoy things despite the frustration with this quest! Edit: I realize a big part of your issue was them promoting the exotic glaives and such, which I do agree feels silly when designing the quest to be such a lengthy one. I do think it goes both ways but I feel bungie would be much better off not building peoples expectations as much as they do… at risk of starting a tangent here, id say the transition to a live service game has kind of stoked peoples appetites for content to an unhealthy level, and it’ll always be a struggle to meet that demand. Games as a hobby is fine, but one game as a hobby? Simply unrealistic imo
-
I totally agree and this is probably my only real complaint with the expansion right now. Proceeding in that quest is just too reliant on RNG. Wait for the weapon you need to come up in rotation, hope that not only are you lucky enough to get the weapon, but get it with the deepsight perk. AND then do it a second time. I get they don't want us burning through it in the first week, but still...
-
I agree this dlc is a masterpiece, and I haven't felt so good about a Destiny expansion since Forsaken. Hats off for the team there. I also agree that the deepsight weapon drop rate is absolutely ridiculous. I haven't gotten a single deepsight weapon to drop from wellspring at all, and it's infuriating. They've made one single activity feel like a boring chore and on top of that, the armour drops with a 48-58 total stat which is just an extra slap in the face. They need to do something with the drop rate. A 10-20% guaranteed bump each run you don't get one would be a good compromise. Will keep people in the activity for Bungies sake and we'll know that after x-amount of runs we'll get a deepsight weapon guaranteed.
-
1580 isn’t bad, I’m 1560 with artifact and it’s doable. Drop rate Is still low in 1580 btw
-
3 RepliesYea was excited to finally get a wellspring weapon to drop you can pull the pattern from only to realize I needed two of them. More monotonous grinding. And just think there are 4 weapons tied to wellspring. How exciting…..
-
Doesn't help when the activity is seemingly bugged and I get 0 drops, not even a blue. The chest spits out glimmer i don't need and that's all I get, and yes I stay around till 0 seconds left.
