Honest question : Who let this happen?

- New light players don't have a method to learn how to navigate the game. - Veteran players keep getting their stuff taken away and re-gifted back a season later. - The best looking armor is only available through Eververse. - The pvp community has been neglected for almost 3 years. - The only way to level up is to do the same core content that hasn't changed since vanilla destiny 2.

  • I’ll take it a step further...
Bungie btw only takes steps backwards
In D1 we had, by the end of the game: Venus, Mars, Cosmodrome, Moon, Dreadnaught, and the Siva area of Earth. That might be about what we have now but here’s the difference - each planet had multiple strikes and multiple PVP maps. In D2 the setup is similar but there’s not nearly the abundance of content as D1. Not only that but we’re losing two free roam areas, 2 or 3 strikes, a couple PVP maps, a raid, and a dungeon. I’ve already paid for that content but it’s being removed. If I want new content I have to buy it. That’s a scumbag thing to do in terms of doing business. In D1 all strikes had strike specific loot. The drop rates were relatively low for normal strikes and much higher for nightfalls. D2 has no strike specific loot and instead has mostly reissued weapons on a nightfall rotation. A big step backwards in my opinion and again, reissuing content I’ve already paid for (twice at this point) is a scumbag way of doing business. Bungie as a whole has not improved upon D1. D1 is better than D2 right now - there’s much more content to play and a much better variety of things to do. The fact that after Foresaken they have only gone backwards tells me all I need to know about them.
Scumbags
• Huh ok 1) how to navigate: - hold L2 - search which NPC you have to speak to - travel to NPC - speak with NPC - press X on icons and contracts from NPC - hold square on unrewarding box from NPC - delete unrewarding reward from NPC - go see NPC previous NPC asked you to visit after - press X on icons and contracts from latest NPC - hold square on unrewarding box from latest NPC - delete unrewarding reward from latest NPC - repeat cycle until you have to complete 10x the slightly modified new seasonal activity - enter seasonal activity - press mono-cellular action button in your brain and complete number of runs required - return to NPC - collect exotic - complete 100x the seasonal activity to obtain catalyst (don’t forget to press mono-cellular action button in your brain) - go to character menu and enable catalyst - go kill 1000 adds with exotic in thrall way (ask for CP on LFG). This procedure is very much the same for everything in the game. The only differences are the activity may change, and that veterans have two buttons embedded in their brain: - mono cellular speedrun - bounty completion optimizer The good thing is you don’t necessarily need experience to acquire these two buttons, you can either use an extra synapse to enable them, or ask a vet to share his insider knowledge. 2) disagreed, everyone will eventually enjoy paying again for stuff they already paid for. That’s when a new light knows that he is now a vet! 3) disagreed D2 gear sets are bad in general. With experience, players learn how to not look too bad. 4) disagreed everyone is neglected and baited. That’s a business model. Forcing the focus on imbalances helps management distract players from the actual lack of content. 5) disagreed, veteran fanboys will tell you to play what you like and not care about levels. PvP focused players will tell you not to care as long as the soft cap is reached, and good pve players will tell you that the only fun in this game is being under leveled. /S

Amazing how many people will make excuses for the game when posts like these are meant to point out flaws so they can get better. Don’t you guys want a better game? Don’t you want more interesting and evolving systems of progression? Don’t you want more content variety in a world that is expanding instead of contracting. Or are you really that content to live with the repetitive status quo?

        • No matter what Bungie does, people still defend them, give them more money and play the game. Under those circumstances, what incentive do Bungie have to improve things in D2 ? The actual development effort at Bungie is being put into Matter and other projects.

          • The answer is, developers who are out of touch, or actually enjoy antagonizing loyal players. I have never played and would never enjoy another game that timegated like destiny 2 does. 1 hour of story that you get 5 minutes worth of for 12 weeks. Imagine getting to the first bowser castle in mario, getting to toad, and he says sorry our princess is another castle, you can play level 2 starting next week. No thanks. I'd rather have my game there to burn through in an hour or come back in 6 months and complete. Oh you can't do either of those in Destiny? Great design. Crack team.

            • -They have no talent anymore. They milk this only running IP with mediocre content. -Greed took over here. Activision left and this game went downhill with content quality and new ideas. Fun left and Greed took over. Throw money at screen mentality. -They don't know what to do with what they've created. When Activision was with them, they have to bring the team that created Diablo to give them advice how to make this game work. That's how clueless they are. -They don't have the right people. They make videogames, but some of their staff that lead them aren't game makers or aren't educated to make videogames. -They are making other IP. They have limited talent that they are probably saving it to their newer games instead of putting all their talent in this old, broken game. -Did I say it's a broken game?... -Yep! They just milk a broken game! -Thats why I don't play this broken game anymore. And will not buy or play any of their future games. -Talentless! 😂😂😂 Milk!

The game is slowly turning into a crap shoot for hard-core players only we all know it. It makes me fear the day that no new players join back for new content cause that means the game is actually dead. Listen I hate this game but I'll never stop playing it and thats only because I've been here since d1 and in all honesty I'm too invested to leave. But for real bungie is constantly shooting themselves in the foot with updates and dumb ideas that make new players feel overwhelmed and I feel like they just don't care anymore everything new or fun or cool added in is locked to paid content and its like they're overlooking the whole free to play aspect that got d2 so popular with new people. Like its free to play not free to pay stop removing stuff and giving bs excuses for removing most of the game.

It’s the new light quest. It’s just not very good as a tutorial, especially in regards to any direction on what to do next. (2)other than artifact mods and bonus levels I’m not sure what I’ve lost and then was given back the following season. (3) debatable. I still think the Raids and Dungeons have had some the best looking armor. Some of the season pass ornaments have been really nice too. I don’t believe Eververse has a monopoly on good looking armor. (4) the community always has something to complain about with PvP. Bungie makes a change, and people either complain about that change or about something else. It’s not always the same people complaining though. But it is a classic example of “you can’t please everybody”. Destiny 2’s PvP has had sandbox tuning and tweaking probably more than Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo Reach combined. Not liking the changes made to PvP is not necessarily the same thing as neglect. Many updates to PvP have been a direct result of player feedback. (5) well to be fair we have more activities than just Strikes Playlist and Crucible. You can matchmake nightfalls now, which you could not do in vanilla D2. You can play Gambit, which wasn’t even in the game in vanilla D2. Each expansion has had a list of activities to get pinnacles, that we’re not available in vanilla D2. Prime Engrams was not a thing in vanilla D2. Each season has brought a new activity. Dungeons have been a source of pinnacles too. Every Raid in the game now was not in D2 vanilla. That being said, the core activities are stale feeling, and any new activity doesn’t take long to get stale too. Destiny 2 (and this is true for many games) is a series of compromises. Bungie could put a bunch of focus into new PvP maps and modes, but that could and likely would mean less emphasis on new PvE content, which brings more people back to D2 season over season, year over year. Bungie could put far less desirable armor in Eververse, or none at all, but then that’s giving up a reliable revenue stream that may play a big part in keeping the Destiny content train moving without needing a publisher to front them the cash. Destiny 2 won’t ever be 100% of everything to 100% of everyone. I’m not saying there can’t it won’t be improvements, but if you’re struggling this much with liking what’s in the game now, I don’t know if it will get any better for you. At least not in the near future.

Since you asked honestly... I think it's the space magic. There's no reason to magic; it just is. I think it's the most talented artists in the world, not just videogames. [If Solas doesn't convince you, or Destiny is beautiful, I don't know what will]. The enviorns are to die for. The music amazing. The Foley work, soundfx, they breath such life into a largely barren world. I think it's the sense of adventure that has largely gone unexplored. I think it's a rich science/fantasy/human/future tale that promised a ten year commitment although the promise bailed and failed. I think it's the hope that it will one day get better keeps us moving forward although it's not, it's getting worse. Still, no one likes a pessimist- and there's just so much talent there. It's not the story. There wasn't really one. In game, not up to about a year ago. Nothing narratively cohesive that is.... All this, and the guns have weight, [(Although ), I'm pretty sure it's all smoke and mirrors and the numbers are more or less coerced to make sense] are how we got here. As long as you factor in the mismanagement, greed, and utter disdain management seems to harbour for the community of it's creation. We got here via a simple lack of respect. That is the truth. If you dare try to express this to Bungie they shut you down, write you off, or ban you. I mean bungie's HR / workplace drama shouldn't surprise anyone in the Community... It's how they treat us, the fans.

Game is what it is. Accessible. It is an easily accessible low skill cap game. Nothing about Destiny is new or unique or innovative and it probably never will be. The path to success in destiny is simple - > Keep doing strikes and you’ll hit 1320. > Then keep doing pinnacle stuff and you’ll hit 1330 > Get your Xur exotic every weekend That’s the business model. Always will be the business model. Some people are cool with shelling out $30 every 6months for that product and end result. Knowing that the road to success in the game won’t ever change and they’re content to walk it over and over because that’s what they expect and that’s what they pay for. Simple as that. You want innovation, look to other studios that give a damn.

The game engine isn’t capable of taking this game to the next level. Neither is the group at Bungie. Everyone knows their next IP is coming. So don’t expect to be blown away.

                        • Sadly people keep paying so it will continue like this for however long the game exists for. Quite simply, it’s a cash cow. I loved the game and played every day for like 5 years then one day I just decided enough was enough and stopped. Stop playing, stop paying. That’s the only way. Sadly, that won’t happen.
