As the title states, I feel having armor set bonuses would make armor more important. As of right now once you get your armor set the way you like you have no need to ever grind armor again. Set bonuses would also help you refine your build other than maxing stats. Entire new playstyles could be opened up with something as simple as set bonuses. This game claims to be an MMO, embrace it.

Bump, this would be amazing given we have transmog now but you should be able to go for 2,3 and 5 piece bonuses for at least end game sets
-
3 RepliesThey tried that with gambit prime armor. Not sure how popular it was though. I don't really remember facing off against any broken builds or dudes running full gear sets.
-
1 ReplyWearing a full set of raid armor should definitely do something.
-
Definitely a nifty idea, but I could see problems arising from the extremely limited inventory space, high cost of enhancing gear, and random chance of getting proper rolls. It would require some work to work in and feel good.

14 RepliesI argued this before that armour sets in endgame content should be a thing, bonuses should activate intrinsically with each equipped armour piece and someone told me that Raid Armour mods are the armour set bonuses... This community man...

We've been daying this since D1
-
They've tried it with things like the reckoning outfits, and again now sort of with the iron banner set. They need to really focus on it because as they've done it, it's not great. But yes I agree and I've wanted this since d1

Edited by Kiro - 13: 12/4/2021 6:10:44 AMIt would be awesome. The current system prioritizes cluster values when you meet or exceed tier 31(base before mods). A average player has 27-28 tiers an exceptional player only has an average score of 28-29 tiers, this would allow them to gain more value for their time & effort then almost no difference other then a more hyper compressed stat(example: 100 rec and int but mediocre to sub par in other stats). But the community's armor quality can be blamed as much the individual for a lack of understanding to prioritize clusters over all raw value as much as RNG.
If you know what a cluster is your to deep & might need to touch some grass like myself
2 RepliesWow how thoughtful and original. Any more bad ideas?

Edited by Dray: 12/4/2021 6:19:14 PMI would love to see this, Bungie tried it with the Gambit armour and they struggled with it, so I think they put it down and haven't looked at it again, too hard or just engine limitations I don't know tbh. I'd also like to see a system where if you wear a full set of the same type say because you like it cosmetically the full set bonus would allow you to apply an exotic armour piece ability that you have in your collection, there's sets I really like that sometimes look a bit awkward with some exotics as the style is at odds with the set/transmog, if that's not doable some system where you can apply your transmogs to exotic pieces to keep the aesthetic. Either way don't hold your breath, the current monetisation practices are showing a side of Bungie that's not encouraging to the players or to content being created that wont affect income.

I like the idea upvoted

The iron banner armour kinda has a set bonus. But I like the idea of more.

1 ReplyThey can’t even get the perks working on single armor pieces. You really want whole sets deactivated? 😂
-
for PVE supporting perks like being able to heal teammates that are standing next to you because you got multiple headshot kills or in PVP with crouching for 3 seconds near a target grants 5 seconds of invisibility some neesh abilities that are activity focused would be nice tho you would have to make them super rare and can only roll on high stat gear like 80+ your best chance is by resetting the vendors after hitting max rep

8 RepliesSet bonuses would break PvP. That's a no from me bud

Iron banner armor was our first look at it. Other bonuses will likely be similar to the iron banner bonuses. They also teased something similar coming to differentiate weapons.

1 ReplyBungie could not be rusted to do it right. The most powerful set bonuses would go on the worst trash can looking armor sets, then they would put wild looking ornaments behind the silver wall in eververse for big$$$$.

Be a cool cosmetic feature

4 RepliesImagine the community making great suggestions like these only for them to potentially get into the game literal years down the line.

2 RepliesThey tried something like this with gambit prime armor back in forsaken.. Lots of people didnt like it. But who knows.

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 12/4/2021 8:03:20 AMSure and to keep it from destabilizing pvp, it’s disabled in the Crucible. They can make Crucible variants after they see how the pve ones perform. Main issue is the armor is limited by its coding. Per Bungie, only so many perks can be active on gear before they start glitching. Probably couldn’t do it without overhauling that system.

Heck yes, bump

Maybe Location Armour & Weapons (example Europa) should grant specific bonuses & buffs when used on that location (including Vanguard Operations/Strikes/Nightfalls, Raid & Legebd/Master Lost Sectors) Much like 5 or 4 pieces of Iron Banner Armour (+1 exotic) & 2-3 Iron Banner weapons should significantly feel better in Iron Banner (regardless of whether the opponent is wearing Trials gear & wielding the latest Trials adept & superduper raid weapon) Making Iron Banner feel like the end game PvP mode it always were in D1 & chasing/building a specific armour/weapon set for IB itself
-
2 RepliesYea but armor set bonuses would have to be good enough to consider using them over an exotic. If they can't compete then it wouldn't be worth it anyway. They'd either be so good nobody will ever use an exotic, or so bad that it's a waste of time to implement them because nobody will use them anyway.

5 RepliesEven something as simple as a damage boost versus an enemy type or something.
