The anniversary pack is an extremely scummy move, Bungie, and it’s disappointing to see you going fully through with it. Overcharging players for a “CELEBRATION for US supporting YOU” and also locking a dungeon and the most iconic weapon behind this pack is atrocious. And to top it all off you’re shoving cosmetics in there for the sole purpose of jacking up the price. I can’t think of any popular game franchise that charges players $25+ to celebrate THEMSELVES SUPPORTING THE GAME. It’s like charging people to come to your birthday party.
What an absolute joke, Bungie. You should be ashamed of yourselves, but you won’t, because you made money. Hopefully this anniversary celebration is worth losing diehard fans, because that’s what gonna happen. You don’t celebrate your playerbase by charging them for more money on top of all the money you already charge them for.

4 RepliesEdited by Artisan: 12/5/2021 3:19:20 PMThat they're loading the game with bombardments of microtransactions, charging for the game, DLCs, DLCs that now don't include the Dungeons, Season Passes, Transmog monetization, monetization of "celebratory" anniversaries, monetization of iconic and potentially pay-to-win exotics, all combined together and more ...and posts like this are DOWNVOTED (!!!) by the very people victim to it, shows the anti-player salesman tactics completely work. That's why the games the industry are producing like this are ruined, force us to play games how THEY want us to, serve corporations and why they're making BILLIONS of dollars.

1 ReplyEdited by WhiteInk47: 12/6/2021 2:20:14 AMAgreed. I love Marathon and would’ve enjoyed getting those decorations, but if they’re not available in the free activity it’s a no go from me. Gjallarhorn is an even bigger issue, as it’s so deeply beloved by the community and often massively shifts the meta. Seems like they’re really playing our nostalgia against us, and that feels pretty predatory. Edit: Wow, these replies are really toxic. Glad to see the Destiny forums didn’t become any less of a trash heap while I was off here for 4 years

71 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 12/2/2021 2:22:20 AM“How dare you ask to get paid for your work, creativity and risk BUNGIE!!” It is both sad and funny watching the greedy and entitled accuse other people of being greedy…. This is essentially a fifth season to tide us over until the release of Witch Queen. If you expect to be paid for your work then don’t be a hypocrite and resent others being paid for theirs.

4 RepliesWe’ve known this for months Should’ve saved some ghorn money
-
So far, Grasp of Avarice and Gjallarhorn have been pretty fun. Are you enjoying the free Dares of Eternity activity?
-
Eh, either way I assume we’d be paying for the Dungeon with Gally, the thorn armor, and other weapons. I guess the big reason for the high price is the cosmetics that come in the pack. Not a bad deal if you also like the two ornament sets. If you only play one class it’s not great, but usually an ornament set in Eververse is around $12-15 per set, per character. On the one hand the pack doesn’t exactly feel worth $25, but on the other hand i do like the feeling I don’t have to buy armor ornaments for silver. It’s weird. I kind of paid for them already, but feeling like I can unlock them by playing the activity gives it more purpose than it would otherwise have. In this way it isn’t too different from a normal content drop. When I weigh it all in my head I like spending $25 (well only $20 since I bought the $100 edition of WQ) rather than the dungeon being free and all the ornaments, emotes, etc being locked in Eververse for silver. Maybe the non-paying players aren’t getting as much out of the event, but I feel like I’m getting more for what I’m spending.

3 RepliesReally on the fence about the whole situation, I think Bungie are more then entitled to charge for their work, and I’m willing to pay if it’s worth the entry fee, but key things to consider are. 1. Nobodies had chance to verify if that premium price tag actually is justifiable yet, and releasing the trailer and related information an hour before launch is kind of warning flags. 2. Charging for content during a content drought of there own making seems somewhat ironic. Yes we all understand why Witch Queen’s delayed, but when companies like Square Enix are half the size of Bungie and are putting out absolute belters like Endwalker, it doesn’t half leave a bad taste in many peoples mouths. 3. When you’re posting record profits in your investor earnings calls ($100 million to $500 million) but monetising what is essentially a celebration of the fans, it does make you question if they see you as walking money banks and nothing else. Let’s be real, NOBODY at Bungie is going to go hungry if they didn’t charge for this, stop being ridiculous. Ultimately, it is what it is, but I’ll be holding fire until hype has calmed down before making an informed purchase. Now, if you want to know the thing that’s frustrating me is everybody’s patting them on the back for a good job and hyping up the “halo” weapons. But they’re NOT the halo weapons are they? Anybody paying attention will see this AND the fact anything Destiny related leaves gamepass today and read read between the lines, the deal between Bungo and Microsoft fell through. They’re as close to references as they can get without breaching copyright. Which in all honesty I see as a failure. It’s your 30th anniversary and you can’t even put petty quarrels aside for the people that helped you get there, the fans. Ultimately, it was on Bungie to secure the Halo crossover, and in the time between the leaks and now, talks have clearly broken down, as many had concluded. That’s on Bungie, (and by extension Microsoft you could argue) nobody else.

1 ReplyWhats ur cashapp ill give u $25 so u can stop being so mad

7 RepliesThe diehard fans will be the FIRST on line to pay for new content. While I firmly believe that developers should be paid for their work, I will agree that the cosmetics should've gone straight to Eververse and they could've sold this for $10-$15 without the cosmetics.

Edited by Quaddity: 12/7/2021 4:08:08 PMI might bite if it wasn't locked behind a dungeon that I'll have to lfg for since most of my clan members don't play anymore. I'll try the new 6 player activity out and go back to other games. I lose stasis tomorrow in time to start the new Halo campaign.

"bungie I'm cheap and don't want to spend money on content.. the fact you're a business and want to make money is appalling... I'm going to claim I'm a hardcore but publicly bash you for providing us with mid season content and bringing back some fan favorite weapons and possibly new ones or skins.. " play or don't no one cares.. if you don't have the money/don't want to spend the money then don't.. there is already enough free content in this gane.. if the actually supporters of bungie want new or reprised weapons then allow us to have them.. you go on about your day with no gally or 1k stare or eysluna

6 Repliesso sad gaming communities are. to not understand that bungie is a business and needs to make money. Do you have any idea how many millions of dollars go into a video game. Do you know how much money they spend on paying employees or the electric bill. Stop crying about it what they are giving in the 30th package is more than fair for the price.

12 RepliesEdited by Knight: 12/3/2021 1:31:56 AMJust don’t buy it if you don’t like it. Other games charge $20 for a SKIN. Many armor sets, exotic quest, new weapons, a dungeon and more that hasn’t been shown. You’re complaining for the sake of complaining. Welcome to gaming in 2021.

It’s really not a lot of money, the people working to make this game need to earn a living too. I can spend more in the cereal aisle at the supermarket than this dlc costs.
