Does Bungie really NEED to charge dunegons separately? Especially when they have literally given us free content in the past like Prophecy and the Whisper mission. They make millions of dollars from eververse every year. What reason do they have to charge 25$ for an anniversary pack? We all know that it doesn’t have 25$ worth of content. It just seems like they blatantly don’t care anymore and are just nickel and diming the players however they can. I’m a die hard destiny player and have no issue buying new content I barely pay for any other games.
But to my friends who I want to convince to get back into the game, how tf can I get them to pay 100s of dollars every year? Is witch queen going to give us the equivalent of content that’s in a full triple A release? We all know it’s not. Why is it 40$? Why was Beyond Light 40$? Beyond light arguably might have more to offer since it brought new subclasses. What exactly are we getting for our money with these upcoming releases? It doesn’t seem to add up to over 100$ worth of content. Die hard players will pay up but like I said how the hell can we convince people to come back to this game? And in the end the content we pay 100s of dollars for “access” will disappear eventually.

10 RepliesThey'll make the Jellyhorn so OP the first few months that people will drop the money.

A solid point, I remember when they litterally said this word for word.

2 RepliesWhen you have a bunch of F2P who won't upgrade to the actual P2P content, they have to make ends meet. If all these space wasting New Lights would fork over some money, those of who paid wouldn't be subject to these "penalties"

Edited by Wanderer: 10/30/2021 6:03:24 PMI'm pretty sure bungie is only capable of producing what content they have and only producing that type in that way. Regardless of changing demands. So the only way for it to survive is to find business models that get people's money for what the company can produce even if it's not in demand. It's a dead man walking thing. A stage where a company is blinded by the limelight and literally don't see the grim future in their forecasts.

6 RepliesEdited by Hardrive2677: 10/29/2021 6:52:56 PMPeople are acting like the 100 dollars they’re charging equals 100$ worth of content. It doesn’t. That’s equal to more than a full AAA game. That’s not what we’re getting. I really don’t want to be the guy who complains for no reason but if you just compare all the 40$ expansions. You can see a clear difference in size between Forsaken and every 40$ release that comes after. Same price, significantly less content. How is this acceptable?

You’ve been in since Whisper? Prophecy? You’re just now figuring this out?

116 RepliesThe role of EV changed when Bungie left Activision. It went from funding free content that couldn’t be directly monetized, to being a revenue stream that supported All content. IOW, EV is why you aren’t required to buy all expansions in order to play the game….like you had to under Activision. EV is why you aren’t required to buy all season passes to continue to play the game. While this keeps barriers to staying (or returning to the game) low, it makes for an unpredictable and unreliable revenue stream. As some players will hang at the edges of the game and try to pick-and-choose what they buy. Especially pvp players. This move (though it is a bad look because it creates the illusion that we are being charged more for the same content) is about incentivizing people to commit to the whole year, by increasing the cost of trying to play the game a la carte.

13 RepliesEdited by Minty: 10/30/2021 2:04:11 AMI mean I understand your frustration. However why shouldnt an artist get paid for their work? They were gracious enough to let a few go free. You couldn’t really think it would continue though did you? I mean the price isn’t bad. Your paying what you normally pay every year with the exception now of what 2 $10-$15 dungeons?

32 Replies$100 for a year worth of content. Sounds pretty good to me.

Edited by TheShadow: 10/29/2021 11:39:48 PMhttps://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/13672/7_Introducing-Eververse-Trading-Company
Our plan is to use these new items to bolster the service provided by our live team for another full year, as they grow and create more robust and engaging events that we’ll announce later this year. It has been, and continues to be, our goal to deliver updates to the game. Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests.
This is what it was in D1. What it's used for now only Bungie actually knows.
Does Bungie really NEED to charge dunegons separately?
Nope, they don't. They are just looking to bring in that extra cash and there is nothing wrong with wanting that extra cash as we all do, but what Bungie is offering for that extra cash like the "anniversary pack"? It's is a joke while other companies offer more, like expansions that are free.

They said that sales on the Whisper ornaments was enough to fund Zero Hour. There has probably been enough cosmetic purchases lately to fund the Gjallerhorn dungeon 3 times over, but here we are.

2 RepliesYou all know the drill by now This company talks out of both sides of their mouth Eververse was designed to generate revenue period All that bs about it paying to generating content was only to quell player backlash $30 for a dungeon is absurd and this is what the third time g horn has been recycled ? I remember the last time it came back and guess what? It was WEAK SAUCE pre order all day long but I can almost guarantee there will be a snake in the wood pile once witch queen releases It will just take a few weeks after launch before you see it lol

5 RepliesI love the posts that complain about dungeons being sold separately & the anniversary pack at the same time lol

So what everyone knew that was a lie and just went along with it. How often has bungie been caught in lies and people just go along with it while the apologists white knight on their behalf. It’s funny to me how each time excuses are made then people forget after a week or two then wonder later down the line why progressively worse content becomes or experience. Bungie has spent the past few years trying to milk destiny and cash out at ever turn. Sad thing is almost everyone pretending to call them out will still end up buying the latest. Sunken cost is the only impressive addition bungie has made to destiny in five years.

1 ReplyI wonder if, at some point, Bungie is going to realize that pissed off people are a lot harder to satisfy, even with quality content. The way they are going about it now, people get pissed because of the pay walls and so they're more likely to complain about the quality and content of the game if they feel it doesn't live up to the money they paid for. Result: a decline in the player base. This also works the other way around. People are more likely to appreciate a game, come back to it, and play more, if they don't have to pay for every virtual fart their guardian squeezes out. People are more likely to say: "wow, what amazing content, I ONLY had to pay $... for it! Then, when we hit a content draught, or the story is meh, the attitude will be more forgiving. The circle needs to be broken. Otherwise, all that's left to do is be pissed at the pricing and complain about the quality.

Dont waste your time destiny community have become trashy just dont buy and move alone that's what im doing im playing

halo infinite i think is time for me to move from destiny 2

Ghorn will be a beast until witch queen. It will be nerfed like lament was after a month of fun.

Can anyone tell me if witch Queen is even adding a new strike? I haven’t heard if there is. Strikes are so important to destiny and they have felt so ignored the last few expansions.

3 RepliesWhisper mission wasn't free. It came out long before Destiny went F2P. It was part of the price of the Warmind expansion. It just wasn't listed in the "includes the following" because they wanted it to be a secret. I get why people are upset, but y'all are acting entitled. Bungie doesn't owe you -blam!-. If you can't afford it, or don't think it's worth the value, that's fine. But all this crying and carrying on is a bit much.

1 ReplyThat was just an obvious lie that people of average intelligence seen through immediately.

79 RepliesCan you provide an official statement from Bungie that says Eververse sales will fund free content? I’ve looked, and I can’t seem to find any statement from Bungie about EV funding free content.
