If you're content as a hunter main (your highest power character at the moment) then ace is probably the play. If you decide to go down the path of the dress wearer (aka warlock) then thorn with necrotic grips is one of the most satisfying combos in the game. Eriana, for me, is kind of unnecessary. I feel like other weapons do anti barrier better and don't cost your special and exotic slot.

Late response: Ace is an overall GREAT handcannon Thorn is entertaining, and can be solid with builds, but it lacks something right now - hopefully it’ll get some love. Erianna’s Vow is beautiful in high end pve content, and the catalyst makes it that much better, but the catalyst is a grind.

Ariannas with out catalyst is junk, but another option for anti barrier this season…ace of spades is decent, since hand cannons got a slight buff in pve…thorn is niche, rarely see it and the ones who do use it are usually at the bottom of every thing, strikes, crucible…thorn is a shadow of its former self since destiny 1.

It depends what you want. Ace Of Spades is arguably the best hand cannon in the game, but the Thorn has it's uses - especially with Necrotic Grips. Erianas Vow is useful for long range anti-barrier without needing mods but I personally never liked that gun so don't use it.
