I want to know how everyone feels about Iron Banner. Back in D1, Iron Banner was a nice competitive twist on other game modes in the Crucible. The game mode would always be different each time the Iron Banner comes around. We had clash, control, and supremacy. Just these three modes usually kept Iron Banner feeling fresh no matter how many times it popped up in the tower. Nowadays we just have control every time it shows up in the tower now. From a lore point: understandable, but why should lore be the reason why a certain activity is super stale to the point where the pinnacle bounties don’t attract my attention at all? I feel the need to put other game modes in Iron Banner to breathe new life into this pinnacle activity

1 ReplyI completed the IB quest on every character during the last IB. The armor looked terrible. I dismantled anything that could not be used for infusing my existing armor. I have a good sidearm from that last IB. There has not been much reason to spend the tokens for quite a long time. I have 11,700+ of them. During the next IB I might not complete all the bounties because it isn't much worth the time spent on them.

1 ReplyIron Banana matchmaking is terrible. Majority of games are mercies.

the whole game's kinda stale. happens every year in between releases. I'm personally no fan of the seasonal model so the crap that gets churned out every season does not qualify as new content in my book.

God forbid as long as we have NO RIFT. Rift campers spoiled that game mode.

In D1 I played IB pretty much every time it came around. In D2, I played a few times and then pretty much haven't touched it or PvP in general in I don't know how long.

1 ReplyKinda stale? It's about as fresh as the old loaves of Roman bread they occasionally unearth from Pompeii when it was buried in volcanic ash 2000 years ago.

I have good news for you then. Way back when they announced the trials revamp, during the “Road to the Witch Queen” blog post, they mentioned briefly that Iron Banner would be looked at for a rework on a similar scale to Trials. Considering how they handled Trials (at least for week 1, the jury’s still out on whether Flawless matchmaking was a good idea), I’m confident that Iron Banner’s gonna become great. Honestly I just hope they can make some decent looking armor, or even bring back some D1 armor if they can’t.

That way if you don't want to do control, you can play IB rumble, clash, etc. Even throw in a fun mode like mayhem or something like that.

Just wish it had decent looking armor like D1 ROI stuff

Can't wait for IB Rift to come back.

IB should introduce a new game type like Trials will. And we should be meeting Saladin on a re-mastered Vostok. And new Rift mode? Instead of that sphere in the middle, it's a flaming banner in the shape of a hammer. 3 Flags you win. Maybe add Shiro-4 as it's annoucer or another Iron Lord. Now it would be Iron Banner for real...

Edited by A_mo: 9/22/2021 12:46:30 PMIt probably is time to look at moving away from nothing but Control in that playlist even though when matchmaking works a certain way IB freelance is probably the most competitive mode for solo players in the game. But with the mercies that people just can't get over and the super easy bounties that are somehow still a problem for some maybe they need to switch the mode up a little.
