Tell Salvatori to use more melodies from D1 vanilla

Remember at the end of the red war campaign they used an old track from D1 as the traveler awakened the pyramid ships? I’d like to see more of that. It makes the game feel more in tune with where the story began. I remember being impressed when they used that at the end. I want to hear the music from when the astronauts first landed on Mars come back. Or maybe if they did an extended cutscene to show more of what happened when the traveler first arrived and when the collapse started to show some parallels to where the story is headed. It would be pretty epic if they showed us more of those astronauts in the opening cutscene for Lightfall. I want to see D1 come full circle into what they’re doing now. It’s likely that a second collapse is coming. I’d like to see the origins of the universe be fully explained as we head toward a finale the original soundtrack from vanilla D1 is the perfect tie in to where D2 is heading. Those melodies fit the story more than the red war melodies constantly being re used every year. Also music of the spheres bodies the entire D2 soundtrack in my personal opinion. Yes deep stone lullaby is good. It’s not better than the main themes from vanilla D1 that we never hear anymore. Those aren’t just the D1 themes those are the MAIN themes for Destiny in general. It would be like Star Wars only using the force theme during the binary sunset and never using it again.

  • Why? He’s way better than Marty imo

      • There’s a lot of beef between bungie and the original D1 composer so I’m not sure if that would ever happen

I would argue both Marty and Salvatori are just as equally as good. Marty has a more mysterious, almost serene type of mood to his music. It makes you calm, even during action segments. Focusing more on choirs and softer type of instruments. (Example being ‘Excerpt from the Union’, which plays during the final fight in the Black Garden. Sure, there are drums you could hear, but it’s often the trumpets and the softer instruments (a la the strings) that often overtake it. Salvatori, on the other hand, seems to mostly use more percussion and piano for his tracks. It’s a different feel to them, bringing a much more epic sort of tone to them. Example here would be ’Look Within’ from Beyond Light; you get the opposite effect. Sure, the violins play some integral part in it, but it’s mostly the drums and the heavier instruments that take center stage. Personally, it’s just up for preference on what you prefer. I’d say they’re both as equally as amazing. Now, a soundtrack with both of them at the helm? That would literally make listen to it all damn week, lmao. (I have listened to good soundtracks like this before from movies and such, if you wish for an example)

          • Athanasia > Deep Stone Crypt Lullaby Also, themes from the past should only be implemented if the composer "wants" to utilize it. But it should not feel forced nor be shoehorned into a track. D1 music represents the beginning, yes, but we are way past the beginning.

The reef music is still the best. No lie, I log in once monthly and afk in the reef just for the music, sounds good with my subwoofer and sound bar. The only other music I’d recommend is the original d2 mission music, the regicide music and forsaken after cayde died and you first got the tower. Top notch tunes

          • If the tower comes back, it better have all the original idle tracks that played there like 'tranquility' and such. Idk, D2's soundtrack is awesome, but D1 music just felt.. right. It was magical.

          • Music since The Taken King hasn’t been as atmospheric. There seemed to be more optimism and less doom-laden themes. The original score is a great piece of music on its own.

            • I think that those tracks will continue to show themselves one way or another. I remember the "Queen's Oracle" soundtrack holding a bit of "Bow to No One" from the Taken King in it's music and it sounded so cool. Not to mention the Proving Grounds redux of "Dust Giants" was sick! Granted I always love me some new unique soundtracks but I agree with you, would be nice to see a return of some of Marty's work alongside Salvatori's amazing pieces. Both gentlemen are legends in my opinion.

              • Leave D1 content in D1. The whole cosmodrome is a waste of space in D2.

                • His work is a masterpiece regardless. The only thing I can say is truely flawless at Bungie is the composer. Strong first besides darksouls composer.
