Make Catalyst progress boosters work on older catalysts
It makes sense to have the boosters work the most for the current exotic, but many of the older Catalyst quests are incredibly tedious without a booster, like erianas vow, which takes 400 matches of anything to complete. Don’t get me wrong, the newer ones are a lot easier to complete which is great, but they are still a bit grindy.
A nice solution would be to give only the last progress boost work for old catalysts (edit: I meant this in the way that they would receive only a portion of it, sorry for not making that clear that’s on me), that way there is still an incentive to complete the newest exotic now, since that will still be faster. On the other hand, it makes the older ones more manageable to complete.

Honestly I'm not even sure why Bungie didn't think of allowing the catalyst boosters to become retroactive. Seems like another incentive to buy the season pass to be honest.

Still have Eriana's catalyst at 223 of 400. And Symmetry at 326 of 400. At 1 point per strike, I'd say that maybe somewhere next year I may have both completed. Won't cross my fingers, though.

i am not concerned by this issue, but i 100% agree. having to do 400 activities for a catalyst is beyond dumb (also it scares me because if i dont play for a season i will struggle to get a catalyst done with this system)

Eriana took me until just before beyond light dropped to unlock the catalyst. I only finished the catalyst last week lmao.

23 RepliesI missed eriana's cat quest the season it was active. Having to do 200 activities... it took forever and I felt like I was being punished for not doing it during the season. I feel you here. They can [u]at least[/u] give you a double boost. Maybe not the full quad

Word. Own the current season pass? Here’s a universal 4x catalyst quest booster. I learned my lesson after not getting Eriana’s done during Season of the Undying and then needing FOUR HUNDRED playlist activities to finish it. But I’ve got clan mates who just joined the game in the last couple months, and they’ve got a mountain of homework trying to get some of these weapon upgrades.

If you don't kill the eyes, it wants you to kill --5k-- enemies with the gun. 5k. Nonsense. It's also a bit annoying that orb kills don't count too. I'm about 38% in. When so many activities require champion killing, it is hard to work in those 5k. I've tended to spend more time on the catalysts that need 300-500 kills.

1 ReplyEriana's vow was a mind numbing grind. I finally finished my 400th strike but that wasn’t the end of it, I had to kill hundreds after that to complete the catalyst. My brains were oozing out of my ears. This was the grindiest catalyst ever.

As someone who did grind out the 400 strikes for Ari and another 600 for the other two guns. Yes, please, no one should have to suffer like that... It was miserable... :(

1 ReplyMaybe let F2P players enjoy the boosters as well! Or put this content in the vault and put out a Vanilla D2 without all the bling or season pass altogether. There are so much stuff that should be vaulted for the non paying customers and not even visible. That makes only people angry! Cause the stuff you get in this pass is not even worth the grind!

Probably the best solution that would "respect" those who grinded it during season and make sure Bungo still gets their money is to have the boost for the current season be the 40% for that seasons cata but all other cata's get a 25% boost. I would honestly rather they just cut the grind in half for total number needing to be done. And in future quests exotics that require a quest to get just auto give the cata once you complete the quest. Leaving world drop cata's to be the one you grind out with usage. But I think Bungie wouldnt go for that. Too user friendly.

People seem not to have a life outside D2 I'd rather commit Seppuku then trying to complete these! And as most already know, a exotic without a completed catalyst are only half as good! Waste of time and space!

I did the Erika as bow without a booster. You aren’t really intended to grind something like that out but have it more as a background thing. That being said, 400?….. really? Kinda ridiculous

4 Repliesyes very much, tho this 6 month content drought is gonna be a long -blam!- grind. gonna lost alot of money trying to extend this 3 extra months. this exotic quest already is a wonderful show of how much they have to stretch things. a fair amount of their player base is hopping for new world mmo. lets hope is does well and kicks bungo into a new seat of give a crap for their game. living in a world of famine shows you how well your game does in a era of feast
