BTW - Iron Banner is rubbish for casuals
Just so everyone is aware. Iron Banner is shockingly un fun for a casual player. It's not trials so why am I always up against flawless players that insta kill me with weapons I've never heard of.
Please can we have one SBMM Iron Banner this season so the casuals can enjoy it. Or maybe alternate going forward then everyone is happy.
Quick update - I'd messed up lowering my light level for the bounties. I thought I could take a weak heavy & kinetic and it wouldn't effect my energy weapon or armour. Thank you for the people that pointed out it works on your average light level and that's why I was getting smashed. I'm going to try again at my max light level. Cheers.

1 ReplyYeah that light of yours needs to be as high as possible to be on equal grounds as those players. You cant bring low light stuff or you will get deleted. If you aren’t a good pvp player then consider running a supportive build, use le monarque or any bow you enjoy using and just follow your teammates. Stay behind them at all times and use that high burst damage to help out anyone your team engages. You get credit for it so go for it. You could also go full support and use bottom tree nightstalker, bubble titan or well for easier map control. The secret to iron banner is to hold 2 flags as much as you possibly can, if you have a team full of hardcore players then you can just follow them and capture all flags to get an easy snowball and mercy. If your team is meh then focus on just holding 2 flags and stay near the first one so the spawn switch wont happen as much. If your team sucks then just do what you can to complete bounties and just try to stay alive while getting kills every here and there. You have to accept the fact you cant win all your games, you will get rolled just as much as you will roll other players.

1 ReplyDon't be fooled by any anti-sbmm farmers into thinking your lower LL *alone* is the problem. Yes, being under levelled would be an extra burden but when you level up you'll still routinely be facing players far beyond you, of whom this is pretty much all they do. And they'll smash pretty much every game up, with Shotgun, with Aim assist overload Handscouts. They may rework skill tiers after they implement it in Trials. They may be more inclined to offer matching players closer to our skill level as population increases - chicken and the egg scenario though. Crossplay might boost population too although that's going to be hardsell for many.

Wont happen bungies decides to cater to the small group and leave the rest out to dry. It's funny how even when cbmm was in the game only this said small group played the mode yet bungie says it was for all players benefit that its changed. Sorry but no they saw streamers threatening to leave for other games and got scared so they brought in farm mode for them to have "fun".

I am just playing to get the Valor Seasonal Challenge done,I already got god rolls on the new weapons I can't wait for the Iron Banner overhaul they talked about in the road to witch queen , hopefully it's more like D1

The skill based and match making system is jacked. I'm not pro CBMM or SBMM but if you go into survival at 0 glory you will not be matched against Tommy No Thumbs as some might think. My first match in glory was great because the other team was pretty bad, but the second team had players on it vastly better than me. So, no I don't think SBMM would make it more fun for casuals, maybe a tiny bit more balanced, but there's more to it than that. As a bad pvp player I just go in, do my best, and get out. I try to play safe and team kill so I don't die too much.

1 ReplyOk .. what pvp focused mode or game caters to casual players...? None, try and get better or don't play pvp. But to complain and expect Bungie to cater to you is rediclous. And I'll assume you know that if they make it easier for casuals, it also gets easier for everyone else to. Meaning you get curb stomped even worse. Maybe find a slower paced pvp game, practice helps. Try valorant, very slow game play. Just dudes hiding behind rainbow walls and camping corners.

2 RepliesYou do realize going in as a 1270 is a fools errand right? I miss my patron of lost causes(full auto/explosive) but I am not crazy enough to expect a chance when I am underlevel you need to be at least 1310 to not take massive penalties. A 120 with a damage can 1 tap you at that light and all shotties can 1 pump you. The gambit scout can replace pateon problem is you won't have mulligan and there are too many swords for you to be using that one but luck you they are bring it back this week. Raise the light and get back in the fight can't let these sweats off easy man, rob em for all they worth and make sure you bag em.

Its got really sweaty as of late plus I've matched (and had on my team) lots of cheaters. I'm really sorry team mate, you don't have a 4.2 average kda (multiple vac and game bans)!. 120s and DMT have really ruined things as well.

6 RepliesSBMM wouldn’t help you. It has nothing to do with your problem. Iron Banner is a LIGHT ENABLED PvP gamemode. Meaning your light level matters. And currently you’re literally 35 levels BELOW the Hard cap and 45(!) levels BELOW the pinnacle Cap!! You honestly shouldn’t even be going in there. You’re severely under leveled to even be entering that gamemode. You’re going to be smoked by every weapon in the game. No matter what weapon they’re using. May I suggest doing a little research on leveling up in Destiny 2. At until you get to 1301 where the damage curve isn’t so punishing to your character.

2 RepliesYour only character is at 1274, so light level advantages being enabled in the Iron Banner is probably the reason why you're having trouble. Take some time to get your power level upnto around 1310 or 1315 and I'm sure you'll do a lot better :)

i have to disagree, casual player, mostly solo (again thanks for freelance). i find IB a nice change from reg. crucible since it has power level and therefore is challenging in a different way. As far as running into "flawless" players from trials, i would have to imagine it's because you're playing IB when trials is off for the week. Also IB seems to be the only place where to get better stats gear in the crucible, if you don't count trials.

14 RepliesIts not trials, its the 6v6 version of trials. At least that's what I pretend. As far as the flawlesseseses, I wouldn't pay that much attention. All its going to do is make you play worse and a whole lot of the people who have flawless got carried by their friends. If anything seeing the flawless title should make you want to win more.

But i'm not always the one on the recieving end lol If it gets too much i use that thing called log out button, do something else and return the next day. Full fury and flames. Works for me
